  • Jill Valentine forced into side-kick?

I know Capcom pretty much forced Jill into side-kick position in Umbrella Chronicles.

Whenever Wesker mentions STARS, it's always "Chris did this", "Chris and the others got here" or "Chris and that girl destroyed my Tyrant". Maybe it's just his love-hate relationship with Chris,
or its Capcom slowly trying to shove her onto the backburner.

Like her RE3 portion of Umbrella Chronicles. She becomes a damsel-in-distress
and needs Carlos to help her when originally, she did everything herself.

And now she's believed to be dead.

    I hate you, Capcom.

I always liked the Jill character better than Chris but I guess capcom couldn't find a reason for Jill to wear a mini skirt in Africa.

you are thinking too much. they just want to build chris as the rival of Wesker instead of jill. its more interesting than a mix-gender rivalry (jill-wesker). same-gender rivalry is more fair and balanced, and hence more interesting.

Jill faces the Nemesis, probably the most powerful creature in the series, plot-wise. Most of the time, she kicked her butt herself, and the only time carlos was useful was when he helps to fetch the cure for her when she got infected. Its not more than Chris needing rebecca to fetch him the medicine in RE1 or Sheva's partnership in RE5.

...don't we have enough threads about Jill? Dead or alive...when it comes down to it... Chris is the star of the show.

I know Rosetta, I just came up with that thought and I wanted to share it. I don't think this bothers, and if it does... would it wrong? :S

another Jill topic by Jill Lover

Anyway I remember Wesker saying this when he escaped after his rebirth from the laboratory in UC: "Jill and Chris... I hope you two stay alive long enough till we meet again!"

Well he said something like that
So it's not always about Chris

No...it's just a bit confusing trying to keep up with all the Jill conversations...since all of them eventually go back to whether or not she'll really be in 5.

And that image...did you make it? I like her short hair better. ;)

You worry too much, my friend. Jill has the most appearances out of any character in the RE series (she was in RE1, RE3, REUC, apparently RE5, Capcom -vs- SF, and a few other games listed on Wikipedia). She is the favorite character of the series creator, Shinji Mikami. She got her own game (RE3) while Chris has never even been the sole character in a game until RE5. Jill was featured the most out of any character in REUC.

The only reason Wesker focuses on Chris is because they are the ultimate rivals. With RECVX, Wesker's resurrection seemed to indicate that Chris' story in RE1 became canon, thus Chris ruined Wesker's plans. So, in continuing that trend, Wesker mainly hates Chris...and in leading to RE5, Wesker constantly refers to "Chris and the others" to hammer into the player's head that:

Wrestlemania V: Chris -vs- Wesker is coming!

EDIT: Honestly, if you think about it, Chris fans should be the ones who feel shortchanged. The guy was in half of RE1, half of RECV, and never even got his own full game until RE5. Rebecca, for crying out loud, got her own game before Chris.

I actually started a thread like this on another RE site. And yes Jill Lover, you are so right. Everything that comes out of Wesker's mouth is Chris this, Chris that and it's sickening. Jill ruined Wesker's plans too and Jill's partners were killed too..She has every right to be Wesker's main rival just as Chris does. At least they did'nt treat her like Barry and just shoved her right out of the picture. After UC I did feel as if Jill was fading away. But after they revealed her tombstone, I actually think she may play a bigger role in 5 than it seems.

Barry has never been more than a side character. In RE1, Barry & Rebecca were side characters for Jill & Chris respectively. How was Barry shoved out of the picture? Last time I checked, he still had a cameo in RE3 (and an epilogue file) AND he was in RE: Gaiden. Being "shoved out of the picture" would be like what happened to Billy or Carlos.

Fans of Jill cannot honestly feel like Jill has not had her fair share of screen time. She was the face of RE before he-who-shall-not-be-named got all the glory back in 2005.

Jill's appearances: RE1, REmake, RE: DS, RE3, REUC (the most of any character in the game besides Wesker), *maybe* RE5. From Wikipedia: "She is one of the more popular Resident Evil characters within Capcom's internal staff, making cameo appearances in Pocket Fighter, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash and Marvel vs. Capcom 2." Jill's outfit is also an unlockable in Wii Love Golf. She also was in RE: Apocalypse. And the RE Pachinko.

How has Jill not been adequately featured?

This occurred in REUC, as Capcom was obviously setting up the confrontation and tension for RE5. Also, it was necessary for the condensed narrative of REUC. Besides, Wesker and Chris are rivals, so why would Wesker not be focusing on Chris?

Why is it so "sickening?" Because Chris got some time in the limelight?

This should totally be a word filter for him now.

Here we are concerning about ourselves about Jill, when really we should be asking each other - What about Barry? We cannot allow the bearded one to descend into the same receptacle as Billy and Carlos. He's the Brian Blessed of Resident Evil. Without Barry, Chris would never have joined S.T.A.R.S. While Billy has long gone, Barry still clings to hope. He was in RE1, he made an appearance in RE3, and he later reprised his role from RE3 in Umbrella Chronicles.

Like I've said before, they need to expand the series with spin-off titles. But actual canon storylines, with good plots (for RE), just to flesh out the universe. Hopefully we'll know what Barry's been up to in RE5, seeing as one of the plot points of the game is what happened to Chris and the rest of S.T.A.R.S between 1998 and 2008. We know that Chris bolstered himself up with anabolic steroids, we know that there's a possibility that Jill is dead. So now all we need to know is what happened to Barry and Rebecca. Joined the B.S.A.A? We know that Jill and Chris did, but what about Rebecca and Barry? That said, let's hope that the B.S.A.A becomes the new S.T.A.R.S.

On another note, what about Carlos? He has the skills to become a viable member of the B.S.A.A, but what about the motivation? He didn't seem as passionate to stop Umbrella as much as Jill. But with Jill's death made apparent in RE5, there's a good opportunity to bring in Carlos. If both of them continued with the relationship they formed in RE3, there's reason for Carlos to be involved. Personally, they should do some kind of spin-off for Carlos, following a certain plot that I outlined in a previous post - involving midget butlers, paramilitary forces and Nicholai's fantasy island. We can call it Under Siege 3: Carlos Ryback, and bring in Everett McGill with the best Russian accent he can do so he can voice the fictional character he so eerily resembles in his performance as the malevolent Penn, in the ill-fated Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. With the lack of Steven Seagal, I expect all the fights to be evenly balanced.

As for Billy, they could do a story where he has to prove his innocence to the U.S. government. We could do all of that in an episode of Boston Legal, with James Spader defending Billy, while at some point in the episode turning to Shatner for advice, who turns out to be a former U.S. marine himself after he demonstrates firing a fully automatic assault rifle in the courtroom.

Now I'm hoping that Jill is dead.
                          See you in hell.

I feel like I'm starting to like Jill less and less ever since that trailer came out. Anyone else feel this way?

EDIT: And Jill Lover, that picture you posted puts the 'whore' in survival horror. Seriously...what the hell is with that picture?

Rebecca might be dead too. RE0 wasn't that good enough aswel. Everyone wants Jill to be dead just because of the many people making mutiple threads about her?. That's not fair.
But let's face it, Capcom might have actually killed Jill off, so everyone can be happy.

I made this thread just to share that thought, nothing else. ^^

Why do you think that ChrisR? Oo
