Do the fmv sequences and intro have burnt in Russian subtitles?

There is no updated RE1 that I know of. Only the good old win95 version

By far, neither of those are the russian version of the SourceNext release.

I installed the RE3 one and, at least for me, oddly enough, it doesn't run any FMV... It doesn't have either the problems that had the old releases, this can be played in XP with no problems. Is exactly the same game as the american release but this is fully in russian, voice and texts, with no subtitles besides the ones at the beggining of the game.

I have the RE1+2 one too, but I have not the right game number and due that shitty Starfox Protection System I can't play it. So I can't say too much about that one.

            Is RE1 optimized for XP?

That's something weird too. In the game box is said to contain the RE1+2 but when I install the game it only installs RE2, so I don't know if is optimized or even in the disc =/...

EDIT: No, no, I'm wrong, it's in the disc, I just don't know how to install it XD

Post a pic of the disc contents / dvd drive it's probably a separate setup .exe file.

Pic in the attachements. The installer is 'ResidentEvil.exe' the one of the good old zombie icon and I install it yesterday =P, but now the problem is this:

Oddly enough I have my color depth in 32-bits... so I change the hardware especifications to work with "Non-Accelerated Version (System Memory)" as the options advise and the problem continues. Besides, the RE1 included in the disc has all the options availables in english not russian, even though the installer is in russian. But thanks to the problem above I can't say if the game itself is all in russian as the RE3 one or is just an english bonus for the russian RE2.

@ Helegad: Looks like the game has no problems in XP. Usually when I start a game that's not compatible it request the compatibility right away, this in exchange pops up the previous problem... I don't know if it's because my pc =/.

Did you try running it in Windows 95 compatibility mode?
Also try LAUNCH.EXE and use the "Creative 3D Blaster (Rendition)" option to test if it works with that go to the first zombie encounter and wait for it to play the fmv sequence if it crashes & resets your PC it's not compatible with that option just go through each one until you find one that doesn't crash.

I finally manage to make it work; it doesn't need to be run in compatibility mode.

It's indeed a bonus for the russian RE2, is totally in english with uncensored FMV's, the main 'Options' of the game are slightly diferent to the one I remember, this one with the option to play it with the Sidewinder controller. It runs faster than usual but I guess that's because my hardware. It doesn't have either the Starfox Protection System, so it can be played without the original game number.

EDIT: I forgot, I had to turn down the quality of the color from 32 to 16-bits.

So Chris smokes?, is the intro in colour?
If it is does it look like it's been recolored from black and white like.

Yeah, Chris smokes in the intro and it's in colour and no, it doesn't look like it's been recolored from black and white, is the original movie, the same of the Birth Of Biohazard tape (of corse, without the japanise subtitles).

Another thing I forgot is that it doesn't have any selection of dificulty at the beggining of the game, you select 'New Game' and the thing begins.

Interesting. So it's just one scenario? Who is it?

Maybe it uses some wonky (possibly licensed) codec for the FMVs?
Wouldn't be the first time that has happened.
Check the FMV files if they are tagged with the name of some weird codec and then just do a bit of googling (or look on the disc for a possible installer) and you should be ready.
