All three movies have been focusing on that Mary Sue. They aren't suddenly going to focus on a character fans of the games would care about. It's going to be Alice and Wesker duking out out, whether we like it or not. At least, that's what the rumor mill turns out.
Still, that doesn't mean they won't do a two sided thing. Going back and forth between what's happening to Claire, and what's happening to Alice.

Now, according to the Extinction book, Claire was looking for Chris, and the books are fairly official, so there is a possibility that the 4th movie will involve Chris, maybe Alice meets up with him, and he hears about Claire's whereabouts, so that could work together somehow.
Either way, it hasn't been written yet, so don't assume.

    • I think it's a safe bet Alice will be the focal point of the fourth. If Claire or another character has another story it will be a smaller, minor role in a relatively unimportant mission. They might end being a Deus Ex Machina, maybe flicking on the switch for lazer beams to block a monster chasing Alice or something similar, but the chances of a more extensive involvement are...slim.

Why? Because, as much as I personally dislike her, Alice sells tickets to the movies. A lot of tickets. So long as the forumla of Alice, Alice and, yes, a sprinking of Alice works they'll keep doing it. They have no reason not to.

And add in the fact Milla is Anderson's wife and the script we've seen with it's description of Alice...and that Anderson himself said if a fourth was made it would be the Clone Wars...then I think it's a safe bet.

      • You do like to exaggerate things. Come on, Carlos' big explosive finish was hardly a minor act. And Claire had a kick ass part in that battle against uber-zombies. Same with Chase. Hell, even K-Mart got a headshot with a shotgun on one of them.

        • Please dont encourage this nonsense they call films and dont go see it. If the movie does crap they will and over the project to someone else, wouldnt you rather wait and see a real Resi film.

Well, it's all I have to look forward to. Since Degeneration isn't really a film so much as a long noninteractive cinematic. But hey, I'm not pushing my beliefs on you, and telling you not to encourage crap like that.
Frankly, at this point, I like Anderson's work better than anything Capcom could come up with.
The game franchise is ruined for me. So Anderson's movies are the only thing I have to look forward to. And as long as they don't include Las Plagas or characters like Marcus, Salazar, or Wesker the way he was represented in Umbrella Chronicles, I'll be fine with whatever Anderson creates.

            Can't wait for it!

            • Good god man you sound like you actually enjoyed the movies? Thats not possible, look at extinction even if you take away the fact that its supposed to be a Resi film that is still one of the worst films ever! I mean Halloween 3, blair witch 2, starship troopers 2, sleepless in seattle some of the worst films ever made look like master pieces compared to that, I honestly could not put myself through that again I have never been so bored and pissed off over a film in my life, You could put a gun to my head and say watch this film and of course id watch it but I would seriously think is life that great before saying ok lol, cmon man its trash, its trash thats been left out in the sun and its ben pissed on shit on vomited on period blood on puss on maggots n well you get the point. They should bury it and pretend it never happened.

              • It was better than Spider-Man 3, or Transformers. Better than the new Indiana Jones, or the new Die Hard. And it had a better storyline than RE4, or Umbrella Chronicles. Hell, Umbrella Chronicles even tried to imitate the laser hall from the movies. Which would've been cool if Chris hadn't done that backflip. Not to mention the Red Queen and the White Queen.
Extinction is a genuinely good action flick. I'd even watch it over Matrix Revolutions.

                  • So... How is that any different from me refusing to believe that anyone could enjoy Degeneration? I've seen 10 minutes of it, and I already thought it was worse than... Than an Uwe Boll film.

                    • Oh, folks can enjoy them. They made millions.

Carlos story became important for, what, five minutes? So he could let Alice into the Umbrella compound? Therefore he falls into the Deus Ex Machina part of my statement above.

And people getting to do something in a single battle hardly makes them vital the movie. Even Carlos' death scene wasn't terribly nessecey since they could have gotten Alice into the compound a few other ways and, in the end, the only scene in the movie where the character was especially important. So, I stand by the 'minor' statement.

Simply put, the other things could have been done by anyone, or in different ways. Only Alice is vital.

Edit: Worse than Uwe Boll's movies? Now you're just being silly. Seriously, nothing is worse than Alone in the Dark and BloodRayne except, maybe, herpes.

That's really not true. Every movie in the world would be 10 times more boring without having some supporting characters there. Yes, logistically speaking, Alice could've been among a bunch of Star Wars clones, who looked the same and had nothing that separated them from one another. But the supporting characters like K-Mart, Chase, Claire, Carlos, Betty etc. enhanced the movie. Gave it more charm.
Like, Rambo 4, could've easily had Rambo bust in there with his usual macho self and kill everyone alone. But the fact that he had those mercenaries there enhanced the experience so much.
Hell, One Flew Over a Cuckoo's Nest could've done with like... Jack Nicholson and maybe 2 loonies, tops. But no, they had a great group of guys, each added a little something to the movie, to make it one amazing experience.
It's not always about what's necessary and what isn't.

I haven't seen Alone in the Dark, but before I knew what I was getting into, I enjoyed the first ten minutes of Bloodrayne.

Well, I was never all hardcore about Alien or Predator. I'm sure that someone who is probably wasn't too happy with how the Aliens got butchered. But I didn't care either way. It had good action, that's all I was looking for. It was a rental.

I am, however, a fan of Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat, and the very recent Death Race, which I absolutely loved.

Chase? Whos dat? Carlos was even more annoying than the one in the game, Claire considering she was played by a farly decent actress was awful K-Mart is dat the black dude? him and Jill are the best things to happen to them films GTA Mother F**ker lol love that.

                            • That's true, but equally, there is no need to have one main character and a bunch of minor characters.

Look at Firefly and it's movie, Serenity. There are nine characters with Mal as the lead but, interestingly, all the characters are strong and have there own ups and downs, and each has a vital role. Especially in the movie. You couldn't cut one of those guys out. And yes, then there were minor characters, and even some extras. But the main cast was important.

Which could have happened in the RE movies. Nemesis could have been hunting Jill, Calros could have had a bigger role, Claire could have had a bigger role doing something other than shooting a couple of folk and deciding to go to Alaska. But they didn't.
