Hmph.
The game is a very good game, but I don't personally feel the vibe with the name "RE".
And I found Replay value quite...bleh.
Mercinaries was too hard imho, and It got boring after a few rounds.
Seperate Ways and Assignment Ada...I love me some Ada, so I was happy about the inclusion of these modes.
But the game didn't make me want to play it again...
I've gone back to RE1 about 6 times in the past 5 years, RE3 about 8, and RE2 about 12.
Yes, I love them that much, I don't know if its just nostalgia, but I can play through these again and again after so many years...
But I've only gone back to RE4 once, and that was this year, since it was first released on NGC...

I used to play it a LOT but it's been a little while since I did (not including the occasional blast on Mercenaries). I'm about to do it all again though, as I've just got the Bio4 PS2 version. It has classic camera angles in the castle, when you control Ashley, which I havn't seen before.
Damn, I wish I hadn't agreed to permanently take over 2 extra shifts at work. My gaming time has been dramatically reduced. I used to be a man of leisure

I pretty much agree with everyone in this topic who went for the "not a good RE game" route. Principally in the scare factor, to me RE should have always been a horror themed game, and they screwed up royally with this one. There's no sense of having the odds against you, or any possibility that you could screw yourself over completely (e.g. RE0, REmake, CV) which is funny considering the fact that the enemies are overabundant and supposedly more strategic. When one of them gets to attack you it's more of a drag than a threat that leaves you trembling. Sure there were creepy moments, but that seemed to be only in the introduction of enemies (colmillos and plaga in particular worked). Funny that they used the same technique for regenerators (heavy breathing) to try to instill fear as they did in RE2 for lickers. Plus didn't Leon have a parasite slowly maturing inside his body? Why didn't they add a gameplay element involving that? That element seemed promising for 3.5. Let me finish this portion by saying that the music in this game is so unremarkable. They didn't have to drop the ball with that.
That said, I'd be lying if I claimed I didn't have a blast playing it. I enjoyed upgrading weapons and laying waste to the ganados. It just doesn't have much sentimental value.

Sorry dear, it doesn't. Same old angles (angle, rather) as the rest of the game. They were gonna do it, but then Mikami hated the camera angles so much he just BALEETED them. Score one for Capcom!
As I understand it, when playing as Ashley you get the same over the shoulder perspective as Leon, if you're playing on easy (I've never played on easy but I read that it's so). You get fixed camera, third person views (classic RE style) in normal and hard etc. But the Bio4 version has some different fixed camera angles (Dot told me so).
I havn't had time to play it yet, so I can neither confirm nor deny...
btw, the Bio4 Incubate dvd is awesome to see some of the various fixed camera angles, that were obviously never used in the final game.

thers a re4 classic edition?
Dot made an April fool's joke where he said a new high-def version of RE4 was coming to PS3 and 360. He made videos (modding the pc version), box art and everything! It was said to include the choice of playing with over the shoulder perspective OR with 'classic' camera angles.
I wanted to believe and was really excited... then the horror was revealed.
Now, let's never speak of this again...
