Initially, the text above his name was thought to say DJ, but its actually Roy. So thats where some of the confusion comes from. Alzaire can clear up a lot more questions than I can about specific stuff.
I don't mean this in a specific rude way to anyone, but wow the ignorance and misinformation in this topic regarding 1.5 is so thick I could make a gravy. It's a bit understandable though, Bioflames website is not very thorough and no longer updated for the last few years with the new informations. Plus most of the Inflames exclusive images he showed off are sprinkled throughout various topics spanning years, so they aren't easy to find. Most people who are newer fans and members don't know a whole lot.
Just some points:
Marvin was indeed a black guy and survived throughout all of 1.5. Roy was originally thought to be named DJ, but a higher quality scan of the groupshot with the JP text showed it more clearly it was a sloppily written ro i, or Roy (so yes, DJ and Roy are the same person). Ada was named Linda in 1.5 and she appears to be an employee of Umbrella of some kind. John (his name is not Kendo in 1.5) is apparently a regular citizen in the RPD who helps Elza. Marvin and Sherry are playable at certain points in the game, but not Linda or John.
The game's design was changed a lot, including the labs which are layed out similar. Most of it is different than the retail game. The story was also setup to be fairly different than retail. Umbrella was proven as the ones behind the mansion incident and was being shut down. Leon was already at the RPD when the outbreak occured, Elza was a college student who seeks shelter in the RPD. Chief Irons was not a corrupt police chief. Annette and Linda are both good characters. Marvin and Linda could both survive in the end and escape with Leon, John could also escape with Elza and Sherry.
Quite frankly, of course the retail game kept elements from 1.5, but the majority of 1.5 is vastly different. It's why it was a fully scrapped game and restarted at around 80% complete. It is, in essense, a totaly different game than retail. That's why it is such a mystery to many fans of it and is highly sought after as the holy grail of betas in the Biohazard series, if not one of the most sought after betas in the prototype community overall.
The final version of the 1.5 beta is extremely rare, but still does exist. Most likely only in the hands of Capcom employees and close friends of theirs. There is an earlier build version of 1.5 that is confirmed and is "closer" to the community in that it's a private collector that has it (not a community member). There is a possibility other copies of that build exist, but they are currently not in the hands of community members or people willing to talk about it.
Well, I'm not the particular RE 1.5 obssesed guy if you ask me. Like I said before, I don't give a d@mn for this game so yeah, I might be a little bit uninformed about it.
I'm almost entirely certain that this game is going to get leaked onto the internet sooner or later. My question is how many 'veteran' RE fans are going to be around by the time that happens? As passionate as I am about 1.5 (I've been regularly visiting Bioflames since its' early geocities forum days), I feel that this whole waiting game is getting a bit ridiculous, rare protoype or not.
Last year's unfortunate turn of events was a great blow for many hopeful fans. Sure, there were probably many other similar cases that the majority of us didn't know about, but that is exactly what made this case special: the fact that the information was made public gave many of us the impression that after all these years, there was finally a realistic chance of getting our hands on said game. Of course we all know the rest...
I try to console myself with the fact that if the prankster of the that fiasco was serious about selling the game, he/she would have accepted Dot's offer; it was a more than generous amount (especially considering the price that person bought it for) for any beta/prototype.
And yet I still wonder if there were any other reasons for him/her not releasing or selling it.
Anyway, I'll still gladly donate should another opportunity pop up in the next few years , probably even more this time around. Oh yeah, and I'm looking forward to that in-depth RE1.5 section!

It's going to take a while. Between doing stuff for the podcasts, our own personal regular hobbies, and other projects that Dot50 is working on, the 1.5 section is being a slow project. We worked hardcore on it for about 2 weeks and Dot got burnt out and I hit a timeframe where I was too busy with other stuff to work on it so we ended up putting it on the backburner so to speak. I can't give any estimated timeframe on it. Everytime Dot and I sit down to work on it, something else comes up.
people, 1.5 was scrapped, we wouldnt even know about it if it wasnt leeked by that dude.
They will not release it, yes it looks good, but that doesnt mean the game play is any better. They got rid of it for a reason. :]
but i think that elza should make it into a game because from what i've read
she's different than claire.
What do you think?
(even in a mod like dark biohazard)
i know ive posted 3 times and probebly in a row but i have stuff to say x]
Elza IS Claire.
it would be a waste to release an uncimpleted ps1 game, i doubt it would make money off it, it would also cost money to complete it and get it up and running. Chances are they dont a disk of any kind with it on, after all it was scrapped basicly useless.
Capcom do not only care about money, like every other games company they have moved on, using the same game fomula over and over again does become stale and in the end less and less games will be sold. I know this because im having courses on 3D modeling/Games creation myself, by reinventing resident evil they have made resident evil become even popular.
TO be honest all you people waiting for an old school game should really get over it and move on like everyone else has, or you'll be waiting in the dark for a very long time.
