The Future of Resident Evil

With RE5 drawing near, we've all come to expect a lot of serious changes to the story with this next installment(certain characters dying off, mysteries revealed, etc.). So, if this isn't the big finale many of us have been waiting for, what would you like to see in RE6. A new story arc is risky buisness, especially if it's without wesker, zombies, and possibly even umbrella(i'm guessing Jill's not really dead). What direction do you want the franchise to go in, and what characters would you like to return?

To be honest, I dont think any characters will be killed off in RE5, including Wesker. Knowing Capcom, they always find ways to bring back dead characters in sequels. I think all the characters of RE have become somewhat permanent to the series, like they cant be replace by new characters. I mean, that would be like a Mortal Kombat without a Scorpion or Sub-Zero. I think characters like Chris and Jill, even Wesker, will be with the series till the end.

I think they pretty much made the biggest change to the series with RE4, im not sure what else new they could think of? Maybe they'll go back to their old roots with the zombies, yet I highly doubt that. I think the best thing they could do after RE5 is to remake 2(seriously though, a remake would be sweet). They should consider taking a break from the storyline and go back to update older games like 2 & 3.

Nope, This story isn't going any where. They basically have said that Resident Evil 5 will be the beginning of the end. Basically saying Resident Evil 5 will end the old series and reveal and solve all the mysteries, but this will some how create a whole new line of stories. So i guess Resident Evil 5 will be a turning point. The end of the old and the start of the new.

I think RE6 should do what the new Tomb Raider games did. Completely restart the canon, bring back actual horror to the franchise. Make new heroes, new villains and pretend like the previous RE games never happened. Start from scratch and go with something consistent, even if it's not zombies. Although zombies would be much prefered.

I second this. But I wouldn't mind to see zombies again. I do really miss them.
I always Imagine RE4 with ala Dawn of The Dead zombies. But I know that will not happen.

They should bring back the "old" RE with Outbreak 3 and make a fresh start from RE6 but keeping the old main characters, one old character and one new character for each game, like RE5.

If they carry to add one new character every game there is a fault in itself; more old characters aren't used or its the other way around.
Anyway, bringing the series back with Outbreak #3 would be amazing, but its not going to happen no matter how much I want it to.
The games old, the series was considered shit, it was critasized alot and I find it oblivious to see fans bash on it saying its the worse.

I would like to see the series end and made come back all brand new. Give characters in the current storyline some kind of end and then start over.

Personally I hope that the series ends with RE5. I wouldn't mind so much if there was more games for future fans with a new story arc/new characters, but as far as the original story...I want it to end. I know that Resident Evil is going to keep going and going and going because it's one of capcom's top money makers. Do you think they'll stop so that the beloved fans of the series can have some closure? Hell No!
So basically, I just want the original story line to end so that I can rest easy at night without worrying that each installment is going to get further and further away from the original games I grew up loving. As much as I love the games, I would much rather have the series stop now and go out on a high-note so I can cherish them always, rather than cramming out story after story (filled with all new plots and characters) until nothing's left but a pile of garbage that was once an amazing video-game franchise.
I don't know, I'm kinda half asleep right now so hopefully throughout all this incoherent rambling I made at least a few good points.
