The excuse "they are a video game production company" for the poor CGI doesn't hold up when you consider Square are the exact same

Oh that's funny, it really is.
Ugh. The mis-information and sheer unwarranted criticism in this topic is UGGGGGHHHHHH.
Firstly, the time between turning into a zombie differs from person to person and method of infection. Some will turn within minutes, for others it will take hours, days or even weeks.
Finally, there is too much hate for this movie. Do you people really expect it to be some brilliant looking Pixar movie? You do realize that this is Capcom, a video game development team making the movie, right? On top of that, it's their first full length CGI production ever and doesn't run on the budget of say, any other animated film.
And Senator Ron Davis is awesome. I already love his character. He pretty much destroys every other attempt I've ever seen at creating the upper class arrogant bastard character. One line was iffy but it's down to a meh script, something which Capcom isn't known for.
The zombies also look amazing. And we finally get to see them "fresh" and barely decayed, which makes it even more awesome.
Oh, and that "not paying" comment? Gtfo.
Buying the Blu-Ray the minute it's available.

And considering how successful of a company Crapcom has been lately, I don't doubt for a second that they'd have the kind of a budget it takes to create a better looking film.
Like with that slot machine trailer, which looked much better than Degeneration. But I'm guessing that trailer was made by another company that Capcom hired. Kinda like the Onimusha movies, the ones that actually looked good, are made by ROBOT.

Square don't make the FMV's for any of their games. They are all out-sourced just like many of the FMV's in the Resident Evil series such as CVX.

Well, I don't care enough about Square to know that.
Nevertheless, that just proves my point. Square at least isn't afraid to spend the money on outsourcing. What's Capcom's excuse?
But it really doesn't matter, does it? The movie could look as good as anything Pixar ever put out. It's not exactly the visuals that make this movie bad. Crappy writing is crappy writing.

The development team don't own the company. And they are already pouring money into RE5 and countless other games.
As for the writing, yes, it's bad. We get it. It's been bad for 12 years. But that's part of the series' charm. It's not a deep, philosophical, well-acted film like say, Blade Runner. And quite frankly I'm sick of hearing the same excuse over and over again in regards to how bad the script for the series is. We get it. Move on. That old and played out excuse to hate the series or a certain game/movie/related material in it would have some credibility if the development team gave two shits about the script. But that's not what the series is about, so they don't give a damn.Last edited by News Bot; 11-13-2008, 11:41 AM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

My main beef with this film is, well it just seems rushed for the sake of a quick buck. I mean watching the first 10 minutes, just as that clip ends is where i'd expect to pick up the controller and start the game, if the whole film is gonna have that feel to it, then it's gonna suck. And already they've wheeled in a Sherry-a-like and the cliched head of an evil corporation. The plot sorta went out the window, one of the things i liked about the first live action RE movie was that it took a while to actually get to the zombies because there had to be a plot leading to it, not just BOOM ZOMBIES! That's what this is. I like the live action movies, i was looking forward to this but i was expecting more from it that what it looks like its gonna deliver.

That was the PS1 generation. More is expected of this generation. Not only that, but with a bad script like in RE4, at least the gameplay is fun.
But Degeneration is noninteractive, so it offers nothing redeeming whatsoever.

No thanks. From the clips I've seen, the animation looks bad. Though that's not the main detractor for me...the main reason I will not watch this film is because of Leon. I absolutely dislike the character he has become.
Claire is cool though, but the fact that she has emotional ties to a small child makes me cringe. Little kids in movies = crap. I'm thinking she'll be relegated to a matronly-protective role and take a backseat to Captain Douchebag.
Plus, after listening to the podcast where SelfishGene talks about the film itself, it doesn't seem like a productive use of 2 hours to watch this drek.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 11-13-2008, 02:11 PM.

That review is depressing Boob! I'm not gonna watch any clip, I think I can still wait for the DVD release. From what I've heard so far of this, this movie is as crap as RE4 is. Or even worse, just another crappy attemp of Capcom using the damngod title name of the series.
I wanna know If Claire is clouded by Leon... because Capcom lately has made RE women to be background characters with no sense at all.
Are the anims that bad?Last edited by Jill Lover; 11-13-2008, 02:38 PM.
