Where do the haters of everything new get time to post their ignorant bashing? What with living in Nostalgialand where the old RE games have good plots and characters and jerking off to Claire porn, I thought their schedule was booked.

Having just watched the vid, it was pretty standard RE/zombie stuff. Build-up to when the zombies are finally let loose, chaos, destruction rendering escape impossible...wondering what exactly causes it all, nothing new. Not great or bad.

Also, I heard Kakashi. Well his American VA. He was one of the Senator's guards. That's cool.
I think the dude with the Brit accent was Freeman.

So, overall, I still am excited for this movie.

I like Capcom's writing. It never has been good, it's always been really cheesy and brilliant.

I wouldn't say the live action films get too much hate. If anything, they need more so they will finally listen up and realise that most people who enjoy the games are not pleased with them. They're not deserving of the title 'Resident Evil' they should be 'Mediocre Zombie Film 1, 2, and 3.'

I live in a country where not that many people are aware that there are games, just the movies, so I apologize if I get a little snappy when it comes to it. I just have to deal with people's ignorance on the topic a lot... Y'know. ^^; Defend the things you love and all...

I like the look of the movie as a bit of fun, nothing really serious. But I think it is worth spending the money on or at least renting if you get the chance to. I'm not saying it's the best film of all time, but I think people are condemning it far too early.

Well, maybe not in New Zealand, but come on, you surf the internet. I mean, look at this forum, how many people here are gonna say that they like Anderson's RE movies? Not many.

Frankly, I think those movies to more justice to the title "Resident Evil" than anything Capcom has put out since 2004.

Really? I couldn't possibly agree with that. I mean, I still rely on the games to scare me (yeah... I know. Girl and all, shuddup) where as the movies just make me laugh. They are fully action films and at least the games still try to hold on to horror.

I mean, I never thought the first film was that bad, but Psychic powers? Come on, they fully made a joke about that in Resident Evil 4, even if it was unintentional.

I don't think the films do the series justice. They add to the confusion about it, though. I wish that at least they had never tried to blur the line between the games and the films. Introducing the characters was a big mistake.

Truthfully, it's all fan fiction to me. I would be able to stand the films but Mila's boobs constantly being shown frightens me. A lot. D:

I'm sorry, but I thought Extinction was much, much scarier than anything in RE4. Extinction gave me quite a few jumps, and it had those tense moments where you go, "Is something gonna happen?"
RE4 was ALL action, so no.... I really don't see how the games hold on to horror anymore. At least no RE4 or RE5. And Degeneration doesn't seem that scary at all either. In fact, didn't one of the reviews for Degeneration say something like, "Action packed from the beginning til the end"?

And hey, yes it is fan fiction. But what's wrong with fan fiction? I think people are just jealous that THEIR fanfiction didn't get published in any manner, which is why they resent Anderson so much. Because he got to write an original story with Resident Evil's concepts and he actually got to visualize it. I mean, frankly, I'd love to get my fanfiction published, or made into a movie. And yes, it would be different from the games, and yes, people would probably hate me too, because my vision of a Resident Evil movie isn't THEIR vision of a Resident Evil movie.

I didn't really like Resident Evil 4 much because of the action either, but I the Capcom team did say on the PS2 special edition dvd interview that they did it differently in order to attract different players to the series. The films are just action style because the don't have the skill to do scary.

4 still had moments that were intentionally horror rather than action. I mean, come on. Regenerators? That entire section scared the living daylights out of me because you'd just come from all the action and the noise outside and suddenly, it was dead quiet and all you could hear was those damn things breathing. The films don't even try

I don't believe Degeneration will be scary, I just think it's a shame that some people are completely disregarding it already without even watching it first.

I don't believe it's envy. More like people just think they could do a fuck-load better, and I've read many stories that would be.

To be entirely honest, the reason the films piss me off is more because they're just not very good as films in the first place. I really want to make films as a career, and I simply do not believe they cut it well either as stand alone films or as adaptations of the games. They dont' have enough substance either way.

Am I the only person who thought Regenerators were annoying, and not one bit scary?

I thought Extinction was a great movie as just a movie. I liked it better than any other action movie that came out that year... That I could think of. I enjoyed it more than Transformers. More than Pirates of the Caribbean. Or Spider-Man 3, for that matter.
Extinction had a very cool vibe to it, likable characters, which, when they died, made me feel that much more sorry for them, unlike in Apocalypse where you simply don't care for that zombie fodder.

Heh~ You probably are the only one. Though, yes. I think if I wasn't afraid of them, I would certainly be HEAVILY annoyed by them. Bastards just won't stay down.

I'm not saying the films can't be likable at all, I'm just saying they are completely unremarkable. Pirates, Transformers and Spiderman were the same... Nothing special. I don't believe a lot of good films came out that year.

Though Extinction did have zombies... I guess that does make it better than the rest. ^.~

(I kinda think the first film was the best of the three, I wouldn't be utterly opposed to sitting through it again.)

Well, the music alone was annoying. Though the music in RE4 was bad all around, except for that spanish tune at the beginning.

Well, they're action movies. Are you gonna tell me that action movies like... Van Helsing, or X-Men 2, or even the latter two Matrix movies are considered 'remarkable'?
I felt that the amount of storyline and the dialogue in Extinction were more than sufficiend for an action movie. And having Oded Fehr, Mike Epps, Linden Ashby, Ali Larter, Matthew Marsten, and especially Iain Glen, is awesome. I like all those actors, and most of them I knew from their other works.

Yeah, the first film was probably the most horrorish, the most Resident Evilish, and had a very unique vibe about it. The second, I just liked the whole destroyed city, Jill, the visual appeal of it. The third, I don't know what it is, but something about it that I really liked. Honestly, if I never heard of Resident Evil, and I went to see Extinction, I think I would've still enjoyed it very much.

It was just a shame the third had so many stupid plot points. Why did they feel the need to exterminate all plant life? I mean, yes, it has been shown that the T-Virus can infect plants but only under certain circumstances. Otherwise we'd have seen killer trees and such, rather than Plant 42 and the Ivy. I can't recall exactly how Plant 42 came to be but it was under unusual circumstances, and the Ivy are likely test subjects.

I simply don't see zombies having a vegeterian diet.

Then there was Alice's whole immense power. They sorta tried to counter that with the whole control thing, but that failed pretty quick. And the end boss was just...well, he was better than the movie Nemesis and Licker, I will admit. But that's kinda like saying I'd rather take the cyanide than the arsenic because cyanide has a lovely almond flavour.

And I still, still can't get over the survivors being so damned stupid as being unable to see a guy turning into a zombie. Or the guy himself being stupid enough to hide it. He had to know he was dead and was apparently willing to let everyone else get munched so he could live.

And the ripping off of Day of the Dead was a little...annoying. As was fat Wesker.

And the Alice Clone Army cannot be good. One Alice all alone is awful enough. Mostly because the movie franchinse just orbits her. But an army of them...ugh. From one completely unstoppable woman who can fight a freaking Nemesis in hand to hand combat with super pyshco powers to an army of them? Blegh.

On the plus side it was slightly better as a horror movie than the other two, although it still wasn't great, and it did feel like they were apologizing for some of the really stupid decisions in the other films (like making those lazy beams mean something, and the end boss actually being both dangerous AND not converted when Alice flashes him) but it was still not great.

As insipid as the story to RE4 is, and it's characters, I must say it's better than Extinction. Hell, I prefer Survivor to Extinction. Gaiden might be in for a fight though. It's game play is annoying but I suspect it topped the movies plot.

See, that's what I mean. That's just overly harsh.
                          I mean, as much as I hated RE4, I wouldn't say it's a worse game than Gaiden.
Majority of RE fans have an extremely biased hatred for the movies.

Let's say... What you said, is as bad as it sounds... It still doesn't sound nearly as bad as the first 10 minutes of Degeneration. Or the plotline in RE4, or UC.

I didn't think BH3 had too many characters, but just the right amount. There was always something exciting going on somewhere because of this.

Extinction was better than Apocalypse. That's all i can really say for it in regards to positives.

The first RE live-action film wasn't too bad however. A decent horror flick if not a great RE adaptation.
Plus the ending was one of the best I've ever seen.
