Milla Jovovich is sexy and all who disagree are wrong.
Milla can be sexy given the right amount of make-up and a push-up bra... They didn't get that right in Apocalypse, she looked like a drowned rat. Eeech.

Well, they're action movies. Are you gonna tell me that action movies like... Van Helsing, or X-Men 2, or even the latter two Matrix movies are considered 'remarkable'?
I'm not a big fan of action films. There are very few that I liked. Some are quite unique and different, but not many. If you count Fight Club as an action film, for example, it was unique. Action films in general are very hard to do right and I'm not convinced Extinction cut it.

See, that's what I mean. That's just overly harsh.
I don't think Darkmoon's opinion on the films is overly harsh or biased. He said exactly what he didn't like about it and why. A lot of what he said was from a movie viewer's point of view anyway, not just as a fan of the games.

I would be tempted to say that Degeneration will certainly be interesting, even if it's not great. However, everyone is of course entitled to their own opinions... But I still think it is a shame so many people just don't seem like they're willing to give it a chance.

          I mean, as much as I hated RE4, I wouldn't say it's a worse game than Gaiden.
Majority of RE fans have an extremely biased hatred for the movies.

Let's say... What you said, is as bad as it sounds... It still doesn't sound nearly as bad as the first 10 minutes of Degeneration. Or the plotline in RE4, or UC.
Well, I have yet to watch the Degenereation stuff. I'm gonna watch it when I buy the DVD and can judge the whole thing for myself.

I actually found Gaiden's plot vaguely interesting but the gameplay is awful. Hence why I compared it to the movies, where they look pretty good but the plot is just...awful. Especially in the second and third movies. Personally, I believe Gaiden is cannon and Leon's mutant creature dopplerganger found him and took over his hair. The longer and more foppish the hair becomes the less control Leon has and the more wooden and bad ass he becomes.

However, I would argue, quite hard, that RE4 has a better plot and is more Resident Evil than the movies. It wasn't great, and I'm the first to admit that. But while inipsid, and quite stupid on occasion, the story didn't have any massive plotholes. Yeah, it was dull as hell. Yeah, it was annoying to have Umbrella collapse in a prologue. That was a real kick in the balls for me, and I know a lot of you guys too.

But the movies make a lot of the same mistakes. Alice never knows fear. The laws of physics, they apply not to her. Hell, she even one ups Leon and has super powers. Poor 3.5 Leon could have compared but not this one. She delivers a few bad one liners and basically acts like all exsitence is there for her...which, given the nature of the movies, is not so far stretched.

And the storyline in all three movies is, at it's best, weak. The first one is pretty simple and predictable. The second is badly written fanfiction putting a Mary Sue character in charge so all the other characters are forced into the background, like those dodgy tales where Cloud gets beaten and a shadowy figure, Sephipoot, shows up and saves him, revealing himself to be Sephiroth's good twin brother who is also super powerful and awesome. And the third was badly set up and explained. Why has the virus suddenly started transmitting to plants? Why does it just kill them, not mutate them? Why, exactly, if the virus is being transmittied to all plants everywhere are humans not being affected?

And you can't move for the plot holes in the second and third movies. How does Umbrella make a big ass wall around Raccoon City in, what, three days? Maybe less? What about all the people they evacuate? How come none of them see anything? Thousands of folk escaped the city and yet no one testifies against Umbrella. Apparently thousands can be bribed or escaped to be killed. And in Extinction how can a band of survivors that have managed for two years fail to prepare for crows? Or fail to spot a zombie turning in there group?

I will, however, go as far as to say the first movie might just top RE4 in terms of story. It was the best plotted of the three, that's for sure, and might have been halfway decent...if they hadn't sliced most of the cast to death with lazer beams. Some of the stuff from that early draft of the script was cool, too, like the Red Queen's personality.

Also, I hate to point this out, but the reason most RE fans despise the movies is because they suck. Not just as RE movies, but as zombie movies as well. This is, of course, my view but, as you yourself pointed out, it's not exactly an uncommon view either.

She don't look to bad in the L'Oreal adverts either but most of the time she looks like a skank.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

See, like... I'm not saying everyone should like the movies. It's a matter of opinion, I think they're a great set of action movies, and have enough RE-like stuff in them to satisfy that craving for me...
What does bother me is when people say how horrible the storyline in the movies is, and criticize the movies... But then they completely disregard the horrible storyline in RE4, UC, and now Degeneraiton-just because they're made by Capcom. So you can't tell me there isn't a certain level of bias there. The movies aren't perfect, but at this point, they're a 100 times better alternative to anything Capcom puts out.

That's fair enough. Some of us do think about this sorta thing, though. I'm happy to admit that RE4 ain't great but, really, I'd rather carve off chunks of flesh than watch Apocolypse ever again. RE4 I can enjoy playing, despite it's many, many floors.

                  Floors? Or flaws?

Right... But it's not like Degeneration is interactive. So it's not like there's fun gameplay to accompany a crappy narrative.
So when you watch that crapfest of a movie, and I guarantee that's what it'll be, I'm expecting an honest opinion, not, "It's awesome cuz it's Capcom."

Some of us don't have ridiculous expectations from a quick, fun movie.

They're not ridiculous expectations. It's a movie. There should be something appealing about it. If the graphics are sub-par, then the writing should be at least half decent.

Unless, of course, the retail value of this movie on Blu-Ray is $15. Then alright, they're excused, you get what you pay for.

The footage makes me want to buy it even more.

Seeing people protest dressed up as zombies made me laugh!

Or that. Yeah, if you're not gonna take this movie seriously, then sure, it's good for a quick laugh, if all you're gonna do is make fun of it.
But personally, I like to enjoy Resident Evil, while taking it seriously at the same time. Afterall, isn't it supposed to be a HORROR franchise?

The TMNT animated movie was short, but it was ridiculously great and well thought out. So don't bring that crap in here.

This Degerneration looks like crap and does seem rushed. Since when did the traditional, braindead Zombie try to get up off of the floor at the speed of a light as if it was break-dancing? It looks stupid. Zombie's are supposed to be horrific monsters, not jokes.

We've seen the traditional nutt-job trying to destroy everything [died on plane] a guy who looked like Coen, and a little girl in a possible nod to Sherry with Claire all in EIGHT minutes?

That, my friend, is Capcom rushing the beginning of the movie.
