Do you think RE series are already DEAD?

I've notice that a lot of RE fans like the MGS series. Is it better storyline/plot wise? I don't care about the gameplay as long as it isn't first person. Also are there any other series better than RE? I seriously need to play more games.Last edited by beasley23803; 11-12-2008, 05:18 PM.

Well, MGS is a great game, period. I'm sure there are plenty of non-RE fans that also like it.
But yes, when it comes to the storyline... Personally, I don't think any other game compares, neither has anyone ever spent so much time and effort into the storyline. Not from what I've seen anyway.
And since Capcom came out with RE4, and I've given up on the series, MGS quickly made its way into my absolute favorite Video Game series.
But it's very different from Resident Evil.

Aren't we supposed to be talking about the RE series?
I, for one, don't like MGS. I guess just because I don't like it, I can go to hell. Whatever. I don't know how many times I fell asleep during those boring cut scenes. the two Metal Gear titles on the NES were awesome, but I never made it past MGS on the PS1. Hopefully it was a fulfilling series for those of you that are fans.
As for RE, I think you have a good point about being able to name some likes and dislikes you have about each title. Rampant fanboy-ism usually doesn't allow for anything other than a biased approach to something.

Hey, I'm just saying. If you don't like it, don't buy it. You don't like MGS, fine. But some people say, "Metal Gear Solid should have smaller cinematics," etc. etc. Should this, should that. Ever since it came to PS1, heck even in MG2, the dialogues got to be pretty drawn out. So if that's not something that appeals to a person, then the series isn't for them. So I don't see why they say it should be changed just so that it appeals to THEM, when the 1.4 million people who bought MGS4 the day it came out... Chances are at least 1 million of them knew what they were getting into, and love it.
So yeah, it wasn't directed at you, so much as at the people who want it to be different, because they assume that things should only be one way.
But the people I'm talking about also didn't like the classic RE games because "You have to be able to see what you're shooting."
I don't think every game should have 15 minute cinematics, but since MGS was the first one to do it, I think it's allowed to have the longest cinematics in the world, and it should embrace that fact.
But yes, Resident Evil. Like.. I've made my hatred for RE4 public, and I can still name at least 3 things that I liked about it.

Well yes, the graphics are one of them.
I liked the gameplay mechanics. I really, REALLY didn't thin they were right for Resident Evil, but they were solid. I just think they should've applied them to a different game, or at least toned them down a bit.
The third one is Richard Waugh's voice overs. He was by far the best voice actor to ever ***** Resident Evil, and Capcom passed him over. What a bunch of idiots.

That clip is awesome. Waugh was pretty awesome, besides the cackling in RECV. Ugh.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 11-13-2008, 05:11 PM.

Couldn't agree with you more. Waugh was such a pro at voice acting. In an interview about how capcom cut him off after he had already recorded his dialogue for UC, he apparently found it hilarious that the new voice for wesker tries so hard to imitate his voice.Last edited by REmaster; 11-13-2008, 05:51 PM."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."
