  • Why Did Shinji Mikami Leave?

I don't know if I spelled his name correct, but why is he not working on the series any more? I know the staff said they got bored with the series and many of them left, but I didn't think it was that serious.

aw. the picture of Mikami playing with both Jill's figures made you wonder about his farewell. ;). He surprisingly left after he broke his promise about RE4 being exclusive for Nintendo.

^ Your right, your pic did have me wondering. So, did he get fired or was it because of guilt. He would have been a great addition to the Resident Evil 5 Team.

I don't remember the actual reason but the whole thing with the RE4 exclusivity had something to do with his relation with Capcom.

I knew it!. Well, he just refused to continue working for them and for the RE series. I gues Capcom's decision about RE4 for all consoles drove him mad.

            he was smart.

he saw how bad the series got and left before it got worse

Actually RE4 was his idea, I think him leaving just because it didnt stay exclusive was a pretty dumb reason if you ask me.

Actually, I am pretty sure Mikami made the promise that the game would be Cube exclusive, but then the shareholders and higher ups basically went behind Mikami's back to announce the game for PS2.

Naturally, Mikami wasn't happy with that, so he departed. He had no reason to depart, Capcom gave him his own development studio, but obviously people going behind his back irked him a little bit.

Then he went on to create Clover, created a few (awesome) games, then Capcom dissolved Clover Studios. Then, Seeds was born from Clover but later renamed PLATINUM GAMES, where he now works. There are rumours he's working on multiple projects at the moment (last I heard, something with Goichi Suda + EA?)

It wasn't just because the exclusivity agreement, he already had some corporative diferences with Capcom, all the shit going on with RE4 was enough for him and he quit. If my memory doesn't fails, Inaba and Hideki Kamiya also quit due to the same cause.

Wow, I guess Resident Evil 4 really stirred up a big mess. And I thought our(Resident Evil Fans), bickering about 4 was a problem.

It just goes to show where not the only ones who thought re4 has taken the re series in the wrong direction.
If he had a brain, he'd be dangerous.

Well, not all of us. I think Resident Evil 4 was the way to go..

Look at us, were already having disagreements about 4. Just as I predicted.

Game play yes, enemy wise no, I guess all you gun ho Americans like it though.
I hate the fact the game industry churns out nothing but fps games now it's like there preparing us for WWIII or something I want games with more substance and a decent storyline along with puzzles any game now can easily be completed by a 5 year old.

So the original creator [pkus some] left because BH4 had a shit storyline?

                              RIGHT ON Mikami!!

That should be enough proof BH is now a sad pile of left-overs from the first generation...
