Maybe its just me and its been a while since I've played UC...but there's another part in the game where the dialogue seems off. It's when Rebecca and Billy are still on the train....its quiet for a bit and Rebecca says "Yeah" or something, and then Billy says something else (I think he's making a comment or saying which direction they should go). And there may have been another line when Jill and Carlos are trying to escape from the hunters...but again...its been a while and I can't really remember.

It could just be some bad translations and as Ridley said....Capcom and the RE games especially aren't exactly known for their well written dialogues.
I don't remeber the line of rebecca, but I remember the problem with jill's comment in RE3-3 "I think it so too".

The difference with the lines in this topic is that "Yeah... - hum? What's wrong Jill? - oh Nothing" is a dialogue, not a single line. All the tree parts are linked, while "I think it so too" is a random sentence.

Thsi teory can Explain why Wesker doesn't mention Jill in the Russia part of UC. Its always "Chris do something", "Chris is beautiful", "I want to marry Chris", and also Jill's expression at the end of Umbrella's End 3.

Nope. Capcom was just ramping up the Chris -vs- Wesker angle, since RECV was not included in REUC. They're merely setting up the showdown in RE5. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't see why people are so negative toward the narrative in REUC.

It doesn't make sense. Ok it's Wesker vs Chris. But Jill is there, he knows it. And during the escape of RE1 he says "Chris.. Jill... I hope you will survive..." So he hates both of them.

I hated when at the end of UE3 Wesker says ".. but Chris and the others were too quick...".

        OTHERS? Is Jill really useless?

That's just the way the narrative is set up. He says "Chris and the others" in the Mansion Incident as well. It's easier than saying "Chris, Jill, Rebecca, Brad, and Barry." And in Umbrella's End, "Chris and the others" easily covers Chris, Jill, and the 10-20 other soldiers.

Everywhere else in the game, Wesker often refers to Chris to indicate the rivalry. Since, as I said, RECV isn't included to show the aforementioned rivalry that was clearly defined in that game.

Agreed with Jill's Boob. Chris and Wesker's rivalry is the focus between them.

Played the Russian missions over...the bug is on one of the soldiers with Chris and Jill, not Jill. When the screen splits, the watch shows the outline of the man's head and helmet.

Nice find Mist. That debunks my theory, which was pretty farfetched to begin with.

I always wondered what about that character outline when the screen splits.

If Wesker has "agents" everywhere...that makes sense for the RE5 trailer where the BSAA agent tells Chris, "it was a setup..."

My thoughts exactly. Not to mention at the time Chris and Jill teamed up (directly quoting the game) with a small anti-bioterrorism group in Russia when they found out that Umbrella had a facility there. That is probably why Jill also mentioned the Russian government...showing that they had restrictions on what they could do. Wesker has already shown in the first game with Barry that he can manipulate people...and who knows...the man could have been in on it or not.

First of all, Wesker is able to listen to Chris & Jill's conversation in the helicopter en route to Russia. So he either (a) bugged the helo, (b) had an inside man on the assault team, or (c) had direct feed from Jill.

When Chris & Jill get inside the factory (in "Umbrella's End" part 1), the following exchange takes place:

                  Chris: "This is the place."

                  Long pause

                  Jill: "Yeah."
                  Chris: "Huh? What's wrong Jill?"
                  Jill: "Oh, it's nothing."

The way the exchange takes place, it is almost like Jill had been to the factory before. Or she was saying "yeah" to someone else. I mean, the conversation takes place for a reason, but it doesn't make sense. And there's no further elaboration.

So either Capcom was trying to hint something, or I am looking too deeply into something ultimately irrelevant. (Probably the latter.)

Finally, in the end sequence, after Wesker steals the Red Queen, the entire facility goes awash in red light. A close up on Jill's face makes it appear as if she seems mildly aware of what is going on.

Has anyone else that played REUC wondered the same things?

Jill would probably never align herself with Wesker. But what if there was some way he blackmailed her? I only bring this up again with all the talk of Jill possibly being the "Mystery Woman" who is allied with Wesker in RE5.
I've Played UC.Jill did look like she was ill and not feeling well.Maybe thats why Chris asked if she was ok?because if you look at Jill, her skin was pale and her eye color looked grey instead of blue. The T-Virus that Nemesis Injected into her during the Clock Tower stand-off might have taken it's toll on her body.

In my opinion, REmake Jill looked like a crack whore in her RE3 outfit. It wasn't the outfit itself, but her appearance in general. Her eyes and skin looked wrong. Considering that was the same look she got in UC, I really didn't notice a difference between the RE3 segment and the Russian part. And honestly...I thought she looked better in the Russian level.

One thing in the comic as well....Jill kinda just stands there and nearly gets attacked by a zombie and Chris comes to save her, telling her she knew better than to holster her gun. I honestly think its just Capcom's way of making Chris into a bigger hero while downplaying on the other characters.

I'm sure if Code Veronica events were in UC, Chris would have probably had more of a role in saving Claire...like taking on mutated Steve and doing more in general.

I don't know about Chris getting an extended "hero" role...this is Chris we're talking about, not Leon. Jill getting her gun stuck in the holster is just a small little bit in a 2-part comic. It's not like Chris was hoisting Jill over his shoulder while mowing down zombies with a gatling gun ala Arnie in T2.

Capcom just chose to emphasize Chris' role in REUC as it really is the game leading up to RE5. Chris had half a game in RE1 and half a game in RECV. He's actually been shown far less (or equal to) Claire, Jill, and Leon.

If you want to see a "hero" (I use this loosely) who downplays other characters, look no farther than Leon "DBag" Kennedy. Flirting, machismo, backflips, hair products, etc. Well, Billy was acting cocksure in the RE0 portion of REUC. It made Rebecca look VERY helpless & pathetic.

By hero I meant more of the main guy...that people will like. Obviously Capcom has picked up on the notion that many fans have been annoyed with Leon. Also...its in Chris's history to be the all around, life saving good guy, in and out of the games. Wasn't he discharged from the Air Force for going back to help someone? I keep hearing conflicting opinions on if that is true or not.

I agree with you about Billy...poor Rebecca. She was reduced to a mouse...but redeemed during her mansion portion. Carlos, to me at least, was the only one that really treated his female partner like an equal, commenting on her skills, letting Jill take the glory of being the "leader", and he was also the one to freak out/show more concern.

Back to Chris...if you don't count Degeneration (which wouldn't count anyway since I'm talking about games not movies), he has now exceeded the number of games (also not included remakes and UC) Leon has been in (thank god), and is retaking the role as leading male protagonist. It's also not about how many times they are shown...but how they are portayed in their games as well that defines their character growth (or lack of).

Yeah, I see what you mean now. Well, Chris has always been my favorite character, so I am just happy to see him get his own game finally. RE1, RECV, and REUC did nothing to really flesh out his character. I mean, we all know that he is an all-around "good guy," but we don't know anything more that that. He was in the Air Force (you're doing better than me on remembering why he was kicked out), he's very protective of his sister, and he hates Wesker...that's really all we know.

In RE5, he looks disillusioned, gruff, and overly consumed by his quest. He has no life other than his goal to end Wesker's and eradicate B.O.W. manufacturers. The RE world has never been about character development, but it looks like they started down that road in RE4 (though they chose a path with Leon that I am not fond of).

I just hope they do Chris' characterization justice in RE5.

As for Rebecca in REUC...blech. She was reduced to a "mouse." It was sad to see, and Billy came off as a jerk. I thought they did a good job with Richard. Chris & Jill seemed the same as always to me. I liked Carlos better in REUC than I did in RE3; I don't know why. I just never really cared for him before. But, when you think about it, Wesker was really the only character in that game to have some sort of character development, since you see him the most. (HUNK kind of had some personality traits revealed too...but just a little. He's best as a mystery, IMO.)

I hope that you are referring to RE3 (Original) because in REUC Carlos is the "intelligent" chick.

About Chris's discharge from the Air force, I'm not sure or not if it's "official" or not, it's in the first comic book, but that's all I know for sure.

Some really good theories here and I think they are probably better than what capcom have in mind, definatley hope to see Jill in Re5 but I wouldnt be suprised if they just show her grave and say she is dead. Then in Re6 she is back and then you would wanna rush out and buy that game to see what happened. I mean capcom dont really give much storywise so why would they put all this story into one game? Unless its the last and I cant see that.
