  • Albert Wesker: Virus confusion

Ok, so I checked out the official Resident Evil site for the first time in quite a while and it has been changed to promote Resident Evil 5.

While it is a really fun site where you can be a dirty little voyeur and spy on the African village where the game is set, I came across something rather confusing in the character profile section...

Wesker's profile mentions something about his "exposure to the t-virus" and I was under the impression that the thing that gives him his powers was a different, mystery virus given to him by William Birkin.

Is this a mistake? I am utterly confused. Please help, ;)

http://www.residentevil.com/5 <- go look at the site if you haven’t already. It is very cool.

Wesker injected the G-Virus... that's very strange that the OFFICIAL website would have a mistake like that...

If he did, he'd be a mutant blob like William. All we know is that it's a virus he got from Birkin. "I injected the virus I had obtained from William in advance." - Wesker's Report. (Unless UC tells otherwise, I just remembered that I haven't played it yet.)

And yeah, it's been up here before: Why research the G-Virus when the Wesker-plot-virus is so much better? ;)

I don't even think Capcom knows what virus Wesker has in him...

        @ the point Anders made

I agree. I think saying it is the T-Virus on the official site is a bit iffy. I guess I didn't miss any memo that said it was actually the T-Virus. It's just Capcom being... Capcom.

Maybe because it is TOO powerful. You can't control an army of "Wesker-clones". You need a virus which either kills the enemy, or gives you strong super soldiers who act like machines without a will of their own. The Wesker-plot-virus turns people into George W. Bush (with additional jumping skills), and I don't think 100 or more of those do Wesker, Umbrella, nor the world any good.

For Wesker, having the virus in him is quite handy during his day-to-day routines, but it's not like he can conquer the world by himself (?). And he can't make money off it - the moment he sells it he is no longer the strongest.

I think that's what Capcom was thinking -- HAHA.

Capcom don't think. They have no skill with spelling, grammar or punctuation plus an unhealthy obsession with the theme of incest, wouldn't you know it.

This is why they make mistakes. (Not the incest thing.)

Who actually writes/wrote the RE storyline/plot and decides what's canon or not? Is it Jun Takeuchi?

It makes me wonder how much do they know about their own series storyline...

Possibly. I think so many people have worked on it, it is a bit of a mish-mash of ideas now.

Makes more sense if you make sure to disregard the movie entirely... God. Some people worry me, trying to argue that it's canonic.

wesker has the NEO virus. its the virus that makes you defy nature, but the side effect is you lose emotion, the ability to act and just becoome dull when talking

By that you mean it's a shame Richard Waugh stopped doing Wesker's voice. Good.

I love to watch Wesker's Report. 15+ minutes of him talking = heaven.

Well, whatever it is, Capcom basically implied that it's the same virus that Sergei was injected with. Which means Wesker's gonna transform in the future. Probably RE5.

... But not into the Sergei monster, I hope. I still have the image of his butt-crack seared into my mind.... Stupid naked monster...

I don't get why everyone thinks Wesker HAS to transform. He's so powerful as he is now. He's like a Tyrant without the look.

Yea I'm a bit undecided on whether or not I would like Wesker to transform in the end. I certainly hope he doesn't turn into the tyrant-like creature in the trailers (that reminds me of the tyrant from extinction with it's trash-talking). I think it would be cool for him to simply have a bad ass fight as he is, although the voice actor interview in which he talked about having to alter his voice a bit makes me think that he will actually transform. Transformation or not, if this is his last appearence they better not screw this one up and make him look like a blob of two week old cassserole

Well, according to Wesker, the type of transformation reflects the personality of the host, so he'd definitely look different, but still.
The idea of Wesker transforming really sucks. I'd rather Wesker at least remained human LOOKING.
