Rule of thumb 1: Never believe the English voice-overs and files.
Rule of thumb 2: If you encounter a plot error in English voice-overs and files, it doesn't exist in the Japanese equivalent.
Hear that, thousands of people? Don't even play the RE games unless you speak or read Japanese.

I was under the impression that the games have never been in Japanese. The files have been, but I don't think there is Japanese audio for the games at all.

The first one had Japanese audio but never got released as far as I know and was only shown on the complete disc that came with Bio Hazard - Director's Cut (Dual Shock).

I thought so. Because the audio is only recorded in English, there can't be that much that is lost in translation.

I put half the confusion down to people's bad theories. ^.~

            thats not exactly true.

the english and more spefically the PAL version of UC actually fixed 2 dates in the files that we found as fans.
#1: the innaccurate founding date of Umbrella was citied as 68 wen it shud be 63 (or vice versa i can never remember which way round lol)
#2: in the american version it stated that Sergei took over control of the raccoon incidnet on the 9th Sept, but the PAL version corrected this to the 29th.

the best thing to do is simply compare both files, the japanese and the english version and see which works best. For example, Nicholai's fate. Japan indicates he is dead, and yet the english version of Survivor tells us he wrote the report after raccoon. As yet we dont know which is precedent.

english versions on actual dates also make errors. In Outbreak File 2 in Flashback, theres a patient file for the hospital, it has a patient dated in 1998, and then Dorothy in 1993. This is an error, as the first patient shud also be in 1993, as the Japanese version says, as the hospital was shut in 1993.
