That would be interesting, I would like to hear more about RE 3.5 myself.

Geez Gaiden was such a bad game. I know I should give it a break for being a GBC game but damn, what a horrible way for Barry to make what was probably his last appearence. They could have at least made it a GBA game! Oh wait, that would require capcom spending more money"One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

I did one, if not the first, timeline for the series online back in late 1999. It was fine until two things - First was Post Code Veronica X, when Capcom began changing and retcon things, and secondly was when they let Prima do a timeline for guides and then used it on the official site. It had errors and info which wasn't officially from the game canon. Facts were blurring from the titles and so after this started I quit maintaining anything.
Marco @ the defunct Dark Legacy did the second one which took my one and improved on it, which included reference material for each entry and added more games. Since then there are several timelines around (a few on GameFAQ's, and ones at reHorror and Biohaze) which seem to mix game and non-game canon (like Perry's novels for example) together mostly.
Considering Capcom has proven issue with keeping a consistent plot or retcon when wanting to, it's not surprising the timeline isn't always consistent.Last edited by Rombie; 11-18-2008, 06:20 AM.

The amount of prep it would take to author a time line, a decide what's to be included, and what won't be, takes dozens if not hundreds of man-hours.
As an alternative for the podcast, if there was explicit permission, then I guess someones timeline could be used for the show. But then you'd just be listening to something you could read yourself... Even though we did that for the Romero script, we did offer at least a little criticism and commentary.
Isn't it the commentary and opinion that you guys want to hear?
If someone's timeline was used, then it wouldn't be a criticism of the Capcom timeline, and what's official and Canon. It'd be a criticism of the author's (UNOFFICIAL) timeline, and why they have included something they probably shouldn't have, or why they haven't included something they have.
As for using the Capcom official timeline... that wouldn't go too well I'd imagine. They have no idea what's going on. (Archives. Case closed )Last edited by TheSelfishGene; 11-18-2008, 10:37 AM.sigpic

Yes it does. Usually whenever I do a podcast I spend about an hour writing scripted notes so that I won't sound like a jackass when I'm recording (my voice is bad enough ). When I was writing my notes for the movie discussion I had to stop a few times because it's I was getting a headache just thinking about itLast edited by REmaster; 11-19-2008, 03:23 PM."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

Personally I would be keen to hear a Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 discussion, a lot has to be said about what the games are in general but also what the mean to the Resident Evil series too (things that worked in both eventually made their way to various RE titles over the years).
I still think a Timeline discussion is potentially problematic these days and would likely need to span multiple episodes, but I think spending time on "history" of certain events, areas, characters, companies, virus' etc. would be a good idea. As I mentioned in the Degeneration discussion I've forgotten just how many organizations (seemingly) are now involved through the history of the series for example, a discussion on that for example might be one topic of discussion.
