The Japanese version of the 5th anniversary DVD has an extra part called 'Director's Hazard', which has the directors of the games up to that point (2001), having a few drinks and discussing the series.
The parts authored by Wesker are the same, except with Japanese subtitles.

same here, i don't consider certain things in RE canon, if RE5 sucks badly i won't consider it canon.

it regardless if it is crap, its canon fullstop. Its made by capcom and its a new entry into the franchise, and a numbered one at that. Theres absolutly no reason for it to be non canon.

Look, I honestly don't care anymore. If you want to keep following the series, that's your choice. And sure, you can consider all the Capcom games canon, if you want. I've simply given up on the series. That's my choice, and that means I don't consider RE4 or anything beyond canon. As in, I don't acknowledge that it exists at all. It's not denial, it just ended at Code Veronica for me, personally. Some people don't consider Terminator 3 canon, some people don't consider the new Star Wars Trilogy canon. Who cares? It violated what they believed, so good for them. They're fundamental, and I respect that.

And if RE6 is awesome, well, that doesn't really matter, because I usually play games to follow the storylines, and if the storyline absolutely doesn't interest me, then I'm not missing out on anything.
Some people said Bioshock is awesome, but I'm not really interested in it, and no, EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE WORLD doesn't have to play it. Same with RE.

Now, let's say they vaguely mention it in another game. Unless they give the specifics, one can just pretend that it's not how it happened. That Morpheus wasn't walking around in high heels and boobs, etc. It's simple as that.

You don't have to follow Capcom's every word. Like with the Archives book. I don't follow it word for word, even though it says that Sherry was infected with Birkin's embryo, as far as I'm concerned, the scenarios happened the other way around, so what?

Anyway, BioEx what are you looking for? What exactly do you want from the series??? How can you completely disregard 5, you said you follow games for the story. You don't even know RE5's story. Don't you want to see how they put the series back on track "storyline wise" since that's what you're all about..?

As a fan of a particular franchise dont you want to know the ongoing saga? And yes you're quite right in the way that many star wars fans ignore the new trilogy but they are idiots regardless of their intentions and the ability to construct a legitimate argument about how crappy the new triology is.

Im saying, yes you can ignore particular events in your mind, and put your hands over your ears and scream i cant hear anything, lalalalalalal but why? Because your personal tastes have been dilluted?

its not your franchise after all its capcoms. Im not saying I like the particular direction Resi has gone, far from it, but I respect RE4 as a new part of the Resi storyline. I dont shun it from my life. I laugh at the stupidity of mind controlling parasite, and scoff at the lack of explaination regarding the creation of El Gigante and Del Lago, but I dont ignore it from a story perspective.

The archives isnt gospel by any means, and the events of RE2 like RE1 are not set in stone. We have weskers report that alludes to leon throwing the g-virus over the edge, ala leon A, whilst in UC it shows Ada's "death" in leons arms, ala Leon B. its all
