I voted for Jill. I usually like the female characters because they have more personality then most of the male characters and I liked playing as Jill in Re 1, 3 and UC.

It doesn't prove anything. But smacking anybody down who loves RE4 or Leon as a character sort of makes the oldschool-loving fanbase seem something just as bad.

Well whoever voted in this poll, they aren't that wrong. Jill Rulez! (?!)

So if someone doesn't like RE4 or RE4 Leon, then they are just a "big meanie?"

I didn't say that at all. People are perfectly entitled to not liking the game or Leon -- hating, even. But the way it's pushed into every thread that's not even about either subject and how some people who love the game/him aren't taken seriously and looked down upon gets a little tiring to see everywhere.

Maybe it wouldn't get that bad, if Leon fanboys/fangirls didn't do crap like revoting on a poll just so that it looks like more people voted for Leon.

That is a lame ass thing to do, I agree. But I'm pretty sure that they're not doing it for no reason - people do things like that out of spite or for the lulz when they see something they like being constantly bashed. And, probably, to get reaction out of the people who would react with things like "why is Leon winning Leon/RE4 sucks!" It's hypocritical and immature and not helping in the least because it just comes full circle that way, but does show that both sides should maybe hold their tongues once in a while, because that is why this happens.

Well, whoever noobed up the poll in the first place started it. They can't handle the fact that Leon isn't the most popular character. And they never have the guts to take credit for something like that either.
I guarantee Leon would not get hald as much hate these days if when RE4 first came out, there weren't people who were like, "OMG! Leon is teh hotness!" Or some crap like that.
I swear, a guy I knew, played RE4, and he said to me, "If I was a chick, I'd marry Leon." It's people like that that were half responsible for making Leon an unappealing character in the first place.

Well, the people who got angry at that and pushed the Jill vote are in the same boat, so that's a no win situation and just proves more that this whole thing is ridiculous.

And as annoying as you and many others find it - as annoying as even I find it when it reaches a point, people have every right to say what they want, I know people who've said that about Leon in RE2 and I know tons of guys who've talked about tapping Jill. It's not a one group/one character thing. It can be obnoxious, but that doesn't mean people can't say it; it's not negative, it's not bashing, it's not deliberately pissing on anybody's fun or insulting anybody else's likes and opinions, and it doesn't justify all of the RE4/Leon bashing all around the forum in places where it just shouldn't come up.

Hey, it's got nothing to do with those people. I bash Leon and RE4 because I hate Leon and RE4. Which I don't do unless it does come up.

And it comes up everywhere, in places it shouldn't. Not to mention bashing is ... bashing. It's the same thing as people who whine about the old RE games' controls and don't like the old games. If you don't want to hear people saying that, it's common sense to not do the same thing to everybody else. And bashing in general is just sort of a no because again, this end result. XD

Hey, I can't help it if people want to defend their opinion by trying to discredit other people's opinions.
Personally I prefer to look at it this way. In Survival Horror, nothing is better than tank controls and cinematic camera angles. Low ammo and health are a part of what Survival Horror is supposed to be about. Resident Evil isn't Resident Evil without T-Virus, Zombies and Umbrella.
If those statements somehow offend people who like RE4, because all the things above exclude it, it's their problem. I've done no bashing.

Yes, and those are your standards for the series. You can go by them! In which case, it's not a good idea to bother reading threads about RE4, RE5, Degeneration, UC and whatever else falls into that category for you. Because saying the same thing over and over again in threads that you are not going to say anything else in is what people get tired of. In a series as a whole type thread where they will all be talked about, the better idea is to ignore what you're only going to negatively comment about, and focus on something you can say something new about, or something that will not make people get more fed up and go "oh god not this again." There is a line between bashing and what you state as your standards for the game, but when it's everywhere, including places where it doesn't make sense to be, it comes off as "my opinions are better" and that line starts to get blurry because the end result is the same, people getting frustrated.

Well, maybe people should learn to debate without getting frustrated. I don't see the point of having a discussion board (and that's what a Forum is, a discussion board) if every discussion is going to result in people constantly agreeing with each other.
I try to be sophisticated and polite about my negative opinions. And I do try to stay away from topics like RE5 that absolutely don't interest me. But sometimes I got my input. I watched that first 10 minutes of Degeneration, so I was exposed to it. So I got an opinion about it, and I don't see why I shouldn't tell it. Provide a devil's advocate point of view.

It's not a case of 'learning to debate'. People here know how to and a lot I have seen do it well, without resorting to insults and constant demeaning of a game/character in threads about something else entirely. A forum is also about being in a place with other fans and respecting them even if their opinions are the exact opposite of your own. Fans being a key word there because you should enjoy some part of the subject, otherwise what would be the point? Forums should be enjoyable as well, which it's not for a lot of people, because a lot of people like things that are constantly being ragged on, and it's not being curbed at all. And if all your input is it something that insinuates that it sucks, the controls suck, the story is going to suck, that's not input as much as much as a case of shouldn't bother replying if that's all the reply is going to be. People know your opinion on that already because you say it elsewhere, by not replying to the thread is showing in itself that you don't have an interest. It's the way things are worded too, so sticking it between one good point just for the sake of saying "it's not all negative" doesn't work, either. If you have an opinion and you are not going to try to shove it in peoples' faces as if it's better than theirs and continuously repeat it as if they are lesser fans for not sharing these opinions, then by all means hell yes you can go and comment in a thread, but when it's a subject you overall don't like, then not returning to the thread after that to continuously argue and repeat the same thing is the best idea. Because usually when there's a thread about anything, the majority of people in the thread are going to be excited for and love the subject at hand. And when you're in a thread about the older games, or some thread about anything, the same thing applies to people who might happen to not like the subject of the thread at hand.
