To this day my favorite is Leon S Kennedy for all his techniques in the fight melee.

I was always a fan of Chris from RE1 but in RE4 changed my mind

Jill all the way. Heck, if she was the main hero of RE4, and they kept the camera on HER ass the entire game, I wouldn't have been mad.

Chris Redfield - He was the first action hero of the series & has stayed true to his quest to stop Umbrella/Wesker. If you've played the series since 1996, and you instinctively choose "male" characters as your playable character, then Chris is the $#!*.

(Also, he looked pretty cool smoking in the original Biohazard opening...the one that provided the epic B-movie feel...)

Plus, he could (and should) beat the crap out of emo-haired, popped collar wearing resident douchebag LSK.

Well, strictly speaking he and Jill are together as the first action heroes of the series. It's not like Chris took priority over Jill in RE1.
But yeah, Chris definitely deserves more votes than Prima Ballerina Kennedy.

I took the PC route...Chris is the action "hero," whereas Jill is the action "heroine." I like Jill as the classic female lead, but I usually choose to play as the male character.

Well, that's not really that common. I mean, how many games do you actually get a choice? With RE, there's only 1 and 2, the rest were linear in who you play as.

I'm just saying that in RE1, you did have a choice, and Chris was the action hero compared to Jill being the action heroine. Since RE1 is one of my most favorite games ever, I feel that I bonded (if you can do that with a fictional video game character) with Chris during my first play-through which I did as Chris. (Since, when given the choice, I usually prefer to play as the male character in a game. Unless it is "Streets of Rage," where Blaze is my preferred choice.)

If this poll was "favorite female character in RE," then I'd vote Jill.
