Does Anyone else feel like Barry was shunned?

I sure as hell do. Let's take a break from all the newer complaints like RE 4 sucks, Leon sucks, The new games are destroying the series, etc...and let's talk about some old ones that still bother the crap out of me. Barry Burton, a man's man...yet he's the only surviving s.t.a.r.s. member to be featured in only one game, and don't mention Gaiden, I would have rather seen Barry killed off then meet the end of his legacy in that game.

Personally, I think it's his beard. He just doesn't fit well into the typical protagonist role ( boyish, handsome, young, looks good in anime comics...Leon ).Then, they finally bring him back in the remake and they shave off his beard! That was no beard sir, that was red peach fuzz. They shunned him from the series and took away his beard, along with his dignity.

In my opinion,Carlos and Barry were designed to show up in only one game :X

Actually, I think they took away his beard in Remake because they couldn't make it realistic enough, so they went for the most realistic looking facial hair possible, which looked great.

Barry's age is the limiting factor. But, he did appear in Gaiden, RE3 (picking up Jill in the helo), and had his own RE3 epilogue (which pretty much announces that a character is of the "main" variety). I do hope that Barry is shown in RE5, even if it is only in a cutscene or flashback. He's a big part of Chris's life. And I thought the REmake model of B. Burton looked just fine.

Notice how one-hit wonder Carlos didn't even get an epilogue in the game that he starred in? Carlos, Billy, and Ashley were all one-hit wonders.

As for Rebecca, heck, the mystery about her whereabouts only makes her that much more interesting. I don't need Capcom handing me everyone's destiny on a silver platter. Leave some stuff for speculation, and fanfiction.

Though I wish Barry would be a bigger factor, he is aging...and has a family. I'd love to see him again, but I don't think he's 'main character' material.

Hmm...Rebecca didn't even get an epilogue, now that I think of it...

I've always wondered why that would be. Rebecca has the potential to be a wonderful character...showing how she's aged and matured into a more seasoned soldier and to see how her experience in biotechnology (I think that's what she majored in when she was in college) could come into play for future games.

I think Rebecca might be dead... I don't know... her main role in RE0 was just fan service because they knew she wouldn't make any sense in another RE. So, I think it's fair enough, it's not the best game of the series but at least she is a main character in the prequel of the series.... they tried to make her braver than the original but I personally think that they failed... I really liked old Becca better.

Yea Barry got the shaft because capcom is looking for young, big and lean looking characters for there games. I still think Barry could be in a support role but capcom likes to forget about characters.
