^ Lmao, exactly. One could argue that having different opinions is the sole reason why some think Leon's cool and some don't, but theres facts, and theres, well, bullshit. I've approached thinking about BH4 Leon with a left-minded point of view and right-minded. Things just never add up properly for me because Leon doesn't have any depth, I guess anymore.

What's cool about him?
Well he had a huge knife fight with another badass. Something actually awesome as oposed to gay and lame like Chris' Pipe-Fu on Wesker.
He can knock people's heads off with a kick.
He can joke and retort to the villains while his fellow RE heroes just stand around like nitwits.
He almost single-handedly took down a giant military force as opposed to a bunch of random monsters on the loose.

And the list goes on.

Well maybe after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...6 games of monsters on the loose Capcom decided "hey, Umbrella couldn't be any more incompetent so we need something new" and thus we got RE4.
And RE5 too from what I hear. Is it true it's a Plaga-virus hybrid? I predicted that's where the series was going for years but I haven't paid too much attention to te info about the game.

Why were Umbrella incompetent? They knew about S.T.A.R.S investigating the mansion, they wanted the combat data, otherwise they'd have cleaned it up. They expected it, planned it, and wanted it to happen.

RE2 and 3, that's no fault of Umbrella, that was William Birkin dropping T-Virus vials in Raccoon City's sewer system. Birkin was turning rogue, didn't want to hand over his research.

CVX, that outbreak was due to H.C.F invading the Island and Umbrella barely had anything to do with the Rockfort Facility anyway, it's not as if it was one of their most treasured facilities. They had a lot of influence and they would have got away with it if it wasn't for Wesker ratting them out.

Anyway-

Retcons are a bitch. REZero established it was Marcus who spread the T-Virus in the mansion. They didn't plan anything except to take advantage of getting one of their top sites destroyed.

So they sent in a crack team of...4 people to take it. Nice.
After that brilliant plan failed they sent in a team of UBCs and Supervisors to get data...most of them were wiped out. Another incompetent error.

Brilliant strategy. Leaving an entire island to a lunatic and leaving him experimental Tyrants. Also a brilliant idea to abandon a fully-functional facility in the Anarctic.

Let's go down the line shall we?

RE1- Wesker betrays Umbrella.
RE2 - Birkin betrays Umbrella.
RE3 - Nicholai kills his fellow Umbrella employees to get more money. I dunno if that's betraying or not.
RE: Survivor - Goldman spreads the virus for his own ends, thus betraying Umbrella.

So Umbrella left pretty much all of their research/guard facilities to complete lunatics. What could go wrong with keeping someone like Vincent Goldman or William Birkin in charge? Nothing at all said the incompetent company.

Also add up the fact Umbrella's last line of defense also was infected and nearly destroyed. But luckily, they had every bit of research data on one computer.

You can't blame them for their employees betraying them. Yeah I'm the same Alexia as on reHorror. I've never found a problem with the game Umbrella, I don't think they're incompetent at all, my beef was with the movie Umbrella.

They leave a fully functional AI to monitor a facility where they know full well they are experimenting with illegal bio-weaponry, a virus which if it got leaked out, could end the world. So, this AI, finds it necessary, for whatever reason (they don't know), to shut the facility down completely and kill anything that could possibly carry a virus to the outside world. So Umbrella, cleverly, unlock the facility and send living people in there.

Again in the second film, they unlock it again, even though they knew damn well from the first film what went on down there, as they captured Max and Alice. But in the second film, once again, they go down there "to find out what happened", and unleash a virus on the whole world. Clever.

Millitary force? I think you mean, a poor village. Claire, BH2 Leon, Jill ect, took on one of, if not the most powerful corperation in America.

The knife fight with Krauser has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. They are using hunting knives like swords, all the while doing flips and pirouettes and having a conversation. (Not to mention throwing heavy ass oil drums around like couch cushions.)
