No, I don't think so. Aftrall, it was HUNK who gave that report in Code Veronica, and he was pretty outspoken. I mean, I don't think any other soldier would have the balls to say, "Hey, next time, I wanna know what's in the tank before I help transport it."

Anybody who knows even a scrap of HUNK's character knows he isn't just your traditional soldier, though.

Well if you put it like this, than yeah, you're right. Cause it's unusual for me to hear that all of all the special forces are called specnaz. Cause in russian there are specnaz of army and a specnaz of FSB and so on. I just used for more concrete names.

Youre right. Its as if every major branch has its own "Spetsnaz". But for the sake of simplicity, lets just pretend were talking about the Russian "special forces" in general.

Until HUNK becomes a more central part of the series(i.e. not just a NPC or mini-game character...aside from his half-of-a-level in Umbrella Chronicles), I'll still have to consider him expendable.

Yes, until they decide to make him a central character of the game, reveal every little aspect of his life, and make him save his girlfriend from zombies, and destroy any and all appeal that HUNK ever had.

Honestly? I think it would be easy to make Hunk into a main character for a game, or one of this little ones like Seperate Ways. The idea would be to simply not to reveal much about him, show him as a ruthless and efficient bastard, and have any character growth take place in the game.

For example, early on Hunk takes a risk to save someone who he turns out to need. Once they've done what he wants (create a virus, anti-virus, unlock something whatever) and they get into trouble again he leaves them to it the second time. One makes it look like maybe he's not such a bad guy...the second shows his true colours.

Sadly, Capcom doesn't understand that quiet, ruthless bastards make appealing anti-hero characters, and realism is a dirty, dirty word these days, along with character development...

Yea revealing to much about Hunk would ruin his character. If capcom could find a reason for him to come back, that would be great. I don't think anyone realized how popular his character would become. Hunk like many other characters in RE will be forgotten but its creators and never seen again.

But HUNK isn't even a bad bad guy. He's not an anti-hero. He's an agent, married to his job, does what needs to be done. And yes, I don't think he'd save someone else if it was out of his way, but that doesn't make him a bad guy.
I don't think he'd be like Kratos from God of War. Rather, HUNK would more likely leave the guy a sidearm or something to use as a weapon that he found along the way. And he would leave them be BEFORE they get into trouble again. That way the guy would know that he's alone, and helpless ahead of time, instead of at the last moment when shit hits the fan.

What I mean is, HUNK is more like the guy who gets the job done, but that doesn't mean he's a cruel person.

Agreed there BiohazardEX, his dedication to the job is admirable, and i thought the letter he sent on CV was good and really illuminated his character.

Which also proves that HUNK isn't just another grunt. He's well regarded in Umbrella and CAN speak his mind without getting fired.
