At this point, I would agree with the idea that Jill will probably be alive by the end of RE5. However, this is a ridiculous concept that I think the hardcore Jill fans have over-romanticized the idea that Jill is so great and so much a favorite that any so-called RE fans who completely leave the series over Jill being killed off would be a significant enough number that Capcom absolutely won't do it. I highly doubt this would be the case. You hardcore ones may, but the number wouldn't be near what you'd think.

And besides, are you really the fans Capcom should even care about at all? If Jill were killed, you'd leave the series. So did you not care about RE2, 4, CV, and Zero at all? You make it sound like you're not so much fans of the series, but of a character. Someone mentioned before that RE is about a cast of characters and it's true. There are other characters besides Jill. Chris, Leon, Claire, ect. And honestly, if you're gonna shield these main characters by your beliefs that fans would leave if they die, then they become invincible hero characters which provides predictability to them. It would mean any main character that appears in a series will never die, which detracts from the idea of a horrific, dark struggle against Umbrella/Tricell/ect. Why play any of the RE games then, "knowing" that none of the main characters will die off and likely win out in the end?

Some main characters need to die, or at least it would be a good idea in my opinion. It would provide very good motivation and emotion for the struggle within the series. It would be a reminder that this is a series involving death and constant struggle for survival and the fight against the entities that wish to use the viruses/parasites against humanity. If Jill dies, I think it could provide such emotion. Yes, I would be sad too if she were to die, but the series is about more than just her.

I mean no offense to any of you Jill fans, and I'm not trying to pick any fights. There's nothing wrong with being pro-Jill, I just think ya'll need to calm down that Capcom couldn't/shouldn't/won't just because of your strong feelings for one of the main characters.

    • Well my favourite character is Chris Redfield, has been since the start.

I played every single game so far and yeah i agree it is about a cast of characters, not just any one character.

I would never leave the series, i could deal with her death but it really doesn't make sense to me in my opinion to kill her off. It might pull a few heart string's but i think in the long run letting her live leaves many more possible plot lines open.

It's just my opinion anyway, i'd rather she didn't die but i can deal with it.

          • And how you are so sure that the amount of Jill fans are less than what we think?
RE is not about Jill, I know... but we can't just complain about the possibility of her being killed? Don't we have that right?. I don't like that theme of RE getting a motivate ending because RE it was about heroes you know the phrase "heroes never die" RE it's not FF.
So, If main characters should start getting killed, what about the others? I'm not complaining about Jill being dead and all anymore, because I'm sure she won't die, no matter the reason, she just can't get killed... and if she was to get killed, it would be fine for me, but when someone says "I won't play RE anymore" it means they won't be interested in the series anymore because their favourite character is dead, so... when RE0 or any other game came out, they surely played it because they knew Jill was still alive so they keept waiting for another one who feature her as main character, and now they got this... a gravestone with her name on it...facepalm*

You are not trying to get a fight, but is it that hard to get over the fact that there are people who like Jill more than the game itself? Come on... I know it's not that easy to take it at first but you get used to it once you think it twice.

I'm in stand by, just waiting for more information about the plot... also waiting for its realease to play it and find out all about the game... I enjoyed RE4 but it lacked of plot, now RE5 looks pretty nice, and if Jill dies, then this will be my last RE game. I never bothered about spin-off or any other non-canon game. Jill is one of the main characters along with Chris, Capcom said they wanted to make people talk this time, well.. Jill seems their most hyped-secret in this game, you know... all that stuff of her being dead... check others forums, there are many topics related to Jill... thet got it.. people is debating about it, about the plot etc.

I know that saying "I won't play RE anymore" sounds ridiculous but it's not a way of refusing to something, it's just where our path ends, just that... I personally think we have the right as you all have to think that. I won't probably play any other RE just because I know I won't like the action-packed theme thing it's getting nowadays, but that it's just me..

            Well... that's all...

            • I'm with Jill Lover all the way, If Jill dies it's like a final nail in the coffin for me besides I hate the A.I. co-op and if I find out the plot before the game is released and she is dead hell that saves me the cash. Depends on what more we see about the game but right now I'm 50/50 and it could go either way.

              • if jill dies and you guys stops playing the other upcoming re games all i can say is
well its gonna be your lost just becuse one character dies that shouldent be the reason to abandon the whole thing no matter if your a big fan of that character or not becuse there is still alot of other characters left and possible alot more good storys coming so if your favorite character dies dont abandon the whole thing.!

                • I really hope wesker dies. Really bad. If the series is going to keep going then they should probably take mikami's advice and move on with a new story/characters. I'm not saying I'm going to play it when that happens but it's better than ruining the original story by pumping out sequel after sequel until it has nothing to do with the original plot/characters that drew us to the series in the first place.
They are. RE5 is the last in the series plotline before they move onto something else.

                    • Protip: She's just a video game character. I also agree with Alzaire. There's more to the series than Jill.

When people say they'll stop caring about the series just because she may die, its really immature. Sure Jill was still alive for RE0, but she had no connection to the plot. She served no purpose. I especially hate it when people say that if she indeed does die they wont consider it canon. Excuse me...You're not working for Capcom. If they decide to make that move, then that will be the way it works. RE5 has been in production for a while now, so obviously the team has really been thinking over the best way the story should continue. You don't like it? Either make your own video games, or stick to writing fan fiction.

Saying shit like you'll pound on the door of the RE creators and kick their asses or whatever certainly wont change anything...but it will get you in trouble with the cops and that would definitely be amusing to hear on the news. All the overly emotional Jill fans that say they'll stop playing and Capcom will lose money obviously have no idea that most gamers probably don't care either way, and they'll still buy the games. Look what the movies and RE4 did to the series. I know a fair amount of people that only heard about the games, but after they saw the movies, they were all about buying and playing them. And despite being on the Gamecube first, RE4 brought a big fanbase.

I'm a Jill fan...but I'm not going to scream and cry and hate the world if she dies. Would I be happy? Not really, especially if her death was some stupid plot gimmick. I think, like Alzaire said, that people really need to just calm down.

                      • Oh man... I think this is getting out of hand.

First, I agree with all of you but this is my point : What's the big deal with people leaving the series just because a main character may die? It's just getting onto my nerves everytime I read these sort of things from you saying it's kind of inmature to think that.

As you said Mist, whatever people say/want/think/desire/complain there won't be any kind of change... they'll probably have to face up the fact that something may happen to any character. What I want is, openminded opinions, I mean, let others do/think whatever they want to.That's not forbidden is it? Because I will think you amuse yourselves posting things like "this type of reasons are such inmature": "For crying out loud, she's just a virtual character" those kind of things makes the things worse, and believe me, you all are taking most of these answers too serious for confort. It looks like you all like to exagerate most of their replies... it's more than just simply. Tempers are running high, that's all... not secret plot behind this. We are not all the same, we think differently, and that may sound silly but it's just my wish.

                        • I think the series should have went back to Chris and Jill being together in RE 5. We got a little taste of that in UC but it wasn't enough. I guess there is still a possiblity that Jill is not dead and will help Chris defeat Wesker but I would have rather had her as a playable character.

                          • I just want to say that everyone is entitled to an opinion on here aslong as no one knock's it.

If someone really does want to quit the series because of Jill dieing forever it is their choice and nothing to do with us.

I'll always play resident evil, personally the thing i like about her is simple - the connection she shares with Chris Redfield.

That on the wall of the viral website people can see the sentence:

                              "She's Alive"

Make what you will of it, as for me i think it means "Jill is alive"

I hope no one has posted this before, i can't remember this in the list before but i thought i would bring this up.

any ideas or views on this?

well my favorite characters are Jill (now possibly dead) Rebecca (MIA) Claire (is always overshadowed) and Barry (MIA), i do like all the RE games but the ones with Jill are my favorites, and i will leave the series if she dies.

and i agree with Jill Lover.

my reason for leaving the seires is not just Jill possibly dieing, it's a lot of things, firstly no i don't like RE much anymore cause i hate the new direction, so i don't have much reason to continue with it anyway, i like the older games, and now that Jill is dead, i really don't have any reason at all to spend my money on anymore RE games do i, since they are now the complete opposite of what i loved about them in the first place.

example, imagine a heavy metal band, now say this is your favorite band ever and you love every thing about them and are obssessed with them. then the Guitarist dies, so they get a new one, but his style is different and not as heavy as the old one, then the lead singer leaves the band, so they get a replacement but his style is more screamo than metal, and you don't like screamo, but you still listen to them anyway. then one day they release a new album and they change genre, they are now a pop band, and and drummer has left as well, and the bassist got a sex change and has a completely new personality. you know have a completely new band, just with the same name, why keep buying there albums?

you see what i mean, and if Jill wasn't my favorite character ever i would have left RE a lot before this as well.
