  • Umbrella Chronicles is one of like three games that has me interested in a Wii...

...although I watched the entire game's playthrough on YouTube a few months ago.

I agree with that, the controls make it a hell of alot better on the Wii for resident evil 4.

        • I second that. RE4 beats the hell out of UC for controls, gameplay, and pretty much everything else.

                • In the '08 trailer Wesker says;"Now that your partner arrived I'll leave you two alone to catch up!" The way he said it indicates that you may have to fight Jill as some people claim...or Wesker captured her as sort of black mail for Chris OR Capcom is just screwing with our brains and he was referring to Sheva. Either one I hope you don't have to fight Jill because I'll never beat the game.LOL!!

I'm not a big fan of RE4 either!

                  • I've been reading through the whole thread. Took me HOURS. Yeah, talking about heroic. So, I've been laughing mostly, but some thought process has apparently been conceived in the meantime. Hell, Jill is the most greatest pixel formation that has ever existed ever, as long as I'm concerned, and I do mean what I say 100%. Seriously, no other character makes me think of Resident Evil more than Jill does. And I don't mean I'm just thinking of Jill's heavenly breasts spilling out of her signature blue boob tube, which I am thinking about in fact, but that's hardly the only thing Jill reminds me of. My favorite RE games are the first 3, in reverse order. So 3, 2, 1. 3 and 2 being almost the same game, except not really. What 3 has on 2 for me is: Jill, Nemesis, and the destruction of Raccoon City, which in my opinion is the most epic event in the whole RE series, nothing tops that. So Jill is half the game for me, to put it simply. All the way. Yeah, sure there's the eye-popping cleavage, the whole damn sex appeal and beauty and whatever words you choose to use, but... Jill is in fact, to a veteran fan like myself, an epic character of monstrous proportions who I would NOT like to see dead, screw story depth or whatever lame excuse for such a character's death Capcom comes up with. No, thanks.

About game endings, cannons, etc... Well, you know what? I've always wondered what the hell happened to Rebecca, who in my opinion was absolutely fantastic. Characters like Sherry and Ashley piss me off enormously, although they could somehow be compared to Rebecca due to their lack of experience and fragility. But Rebecca rocks, she's absolutely badass. That's what separates her from simply annoying characters. So, what the hell happened to Rebecca? Yeah, and imagine her now, 10 years later, all grown up and hot as hell. She would so kick ass! If you ask me, I would totally love it for Jill to appear alongside Rebecca again. I would love it even more to see Jill, Rebecca, Claire, and Ada in one RE game all together, story and all! Now how great would that be?

What I believe, in other words what suits my interest, would be for Jill to have the most amazing comeback in RE5. THE comeback of all comebacks. No cameo, no flashbacks, no Wesker-like shadowy presense throughout the whole game, none of that. Maybe a bit of mystery at first, but then a major comeback, Jill in all her glory. Someone there mentioned skimpy clothing with lots of cleavage. Yeah, that wouldn't hurt either. Preferably something in dark blue. Red eyes would piss me off, absolutely. Give me back Jill's blue eyes and let me be happy I spent my money on another RE game!

It would be great to see Jill back, now more mature and more badass. Now in her early 30's. What a woman, what a character! Epic. So yeah, give me that. And it would make perfect sense too. Can't you see the kind of attention this is getting? Capcom's idea in action. Make the fans anxious to see Jill back (her being dead is the perfect way to make that happen), then give her back to the fans and see what happens. You make loyal fans that way. Many of them would appreciate something like that, I would. And I've been a fan since 1998. It's sad to say the fun I've had with RE in the late 90's far exceeds the fun I've had with it in all those years after that combined and multiplied by 10. A remake of 2 and 3 would shift the balance a little, I guess. But I don't care about that much. I just wish things weren't so damn commercial, and Capcom would remember who made Resident Evil what it is today in the first place.

If Jill is evil in RE5, so be it. Maybe that way she could become immortal too... That would actually be awesome. Yeah, Jill all the way! If they upgrade her to an even bigger cup, I wouldn't hate it that much you know ;p So, I don't care, just as long as Jill is alive and has a major role in RE5, and why not a few more games after that with her as the main protagonist? Or antagonist. Yeah, why not have Jill become evil and tell a RE story from a villain's perspective? Why do all the games have to be from the hero's perspective? RE6 with Jill being evil, or at least halfway so, not knowing who she really is, trying to fight against her evil side throughout the whole game. And it would in fact help make quite a deep emotional story. Hey, Capcom has Resident Evil going strong now, there's no limit to what they can do with it. A bit more creativity and dedication, a bit more innovation, and see what happens!

Something else about male and female characters. Females for me please! Man, how stupid is relating to an almost invincible super strong kind of supermen-like sort of superhero type of guy who goes from 5'10" to 6'1" from game to game and walks around in a shirt that screams: "Chris, I don't fit yoouuu!!" (sorry about the blatant Eminem reference, I just couldn't help myself) So yeah, I'm sorry but I think that macho crap is stupid. I like a girl in a game, something beautiful to contrast with all the terror. Like, the exact opposite. Contrasts are nice! It doesn't hurt either to have a beautiful face and body to look at rather than a muscle-bound generic type of 'hero' who breezes through the game as if a 20" bicep would really make all the difference. Boooo! Resident Evil was never all horror, it would have sucked if it was, but it was never all about action either. Now, it's leaning towards action a bit too much, the male protagonist trend being a huge weight on that scale. Hm, I never thought I would say that (being anti-feminist and all), but...GIRL POWER!!!! Really, I don't want to stare at another guy's ass through hours of testosterone-packed gameplay.

Someone mentioned how killing Jill is like taking Steve Austin out of the WWE/WWF. I couldn't agree more! I can totally relate to that! Yeah, think of how wrestling changed after all the coolest wrestlers left and the few cool ones who stayed just...became kind of empty. When Steve Austin was gone, wrestling died for me. If Jill dies, well I guess Resident Evil would TOTALLY change, and I'm sorry but I can't have that. Irony, man. It's like a major thing in life. I remember in 1998 I wanted games to look like they do now, not really imagining one day they actually would. But hell, that day has finally come, and I never thought now I'd be whining about what I'm whining about and wish games were like they used to be. Ironic. But yeah, I totally like progress, I love progress. I love better graphics, more action, more characters, MORE of everything...but only if the rest, the old school stuff is still there in some form, because I'm used to it. That was my childhood when it comes to games. Like how they still keep the typewriters and herbs and stuff...I love that, but it's not enough guys. I like how there are new fans of the series, because they buy games and play them and then buy some more, which means money for Capcom, which means more RE games. But I hate new fans, especially those who have no idea what RE is, because their mindset is completely different and that leads to terrible decisions in Capcom, because after all Capcom wants to sell, which is perfectly fine, but when it leads to ruining something that's been built for years, it just plain sucks. Sigh. I hope I'm not alone on this.

And what's with some people wanting Jill dead, or worse, not liking Jill in the first place? They know who they are. I mean, everyone has the right to have bad taste, but what's not to like about Jill? You don't have to answer, that was a rhetorical question. Arguments like 'a series is more than a single character' are, if not completely untrue, at least not completely true. A character does make a series. Lara Croft, enough said. Sure, Resident Evil is no Tomb Raider, no single main character (although I do enjoy the idea of having a Jill Valentine: Resident Evil spin-off title), but start coming up with new characters all the time ignoring the ones in the center of the storyline and see what happens. That's just as tasteless as it gets man...either that, or it has a really terrible taste and is disgusting. Resident Evil is not Jill Valentine, and Jill Valentine is not Resident Evil. True, but it's also true that you can't have teriyaki chicken without the teriyaki sauce, even though the teriyaki sauce is not the chicken itself, which is the main thing you eat. But it's just chicken without the teriyaki sauce, plain and tasteless. So is Resident Evil without its most recognizable characters. They should NOT die, not one of them. 'Heroes never die' sounds about right. Call it cliche, but realism has its limit. You can't make everything realistic, that's not the point. Jill, Chris, Claire, Leon, Wesker, and even Rebecca. Even Ada and Barry despite never being MAIN characters. They're all epic. They either stay, or RE changes totally and becomes a different game with the same name.

Long story short, Jill needs to come back. And yeah, so do Rebecca and Barry. Absolutely.

You know, now that you mention it, Jill is the Lara Croft of the RE franchise in terms of popularity and association of a character with a particular franchise just as much as Leon and Chris are as the males in the RE universe with the casual gamers. Even if you do not follow the games and its mythos as much as we do on the boards here and online elsewhere, they are characters we can immediately associate with RE and know it.

If there is going to be a sixth game in the series I am hoping that it will switch to a female main character and it be Jill this time, with perhaps maybe even Ada, Rebecca, Sherry and more females from the series coming in to make it probably one of the first action horror games to feature a predominately all female cast. And considering how I will like the co op mode in five, maybe even have one of them work side by side with you but if not have the option of just playing alone for most of the game.

And although I do agree that there needs to be a sense of realism bought back into the franchise, a bit of science fiction is okay as long as it does not overload and saturate the game to the point where it becomes too easy. I always did not like really how Wesker was granted all these super powers even though logically being a bio weapon now it is to be expected, but it would be nice for the more traditional game of gun play and puzzle solving make its way back into the series if they do make a sixth one.

                        • i have to say that i totaly agree with Rakkoon and JillLovesChris.

i hate it so much when companys kill of a major character so they can have a dramatic plot or something stupid like that.

Jill Valentine Alive >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dramatic Plot

oh and, now that i think about it, even though RE has an ensemble cast, Jill is easily the most popular, why else choose her for the grave stone, Jill is the face of the series, just like Lara, though not to the same extent as Lara is.
