Okay, I agree with you and see where you're coming from. But that's not my point. We're talking about different things here.

I ENJOY the fact that Jill is all the things you mentioned (DF, S.TA.R.S., smart, trained, etc.), AND dresses that way at the same time (boobtube & miniskirt). If her character was that of a bimbo and Resident Evil was Dead Or Alive, the sexy clothes would mean nothing to me. I mean, I wouldn't find anything special or interesting about that, so probably I wouldn't even notice it. But having Jill dress that way while she is supposed to be a character who 'knows better than that' is the very thing I appreaciate so much. It's just crazy contrast I enjoy.

The lack of believability is what bothers you. No, it's not sensible to slip into a tube top and a short skirt under the given circumstances. But then again, how do you know Jill wouldn't do it just for the heck of it? How do you know she's not crazy enough to do whatever the hell she wants to? A fictional character is there to present a human being after all, with all their screwed up emotions, wrong reasoning, irrationalities and illogicalness. Not everything is supposed to make sense. That's the most unrealistic thing, everything making perfect sense.

Other than that, the Japanese are usually fashion oriented people. They could have made something cool, sexy, AND realistic all at once, but that would have been boring. Yes, boring. The tube top and the mini skirt, other than pure fan service, were not simply a sexualization of Jill's character (and I don't think sex symbolization is that much of a terrible thing, although it does come with numerous side effects), but they (the clothes) were also an aesthetical element that added much to the character's appeal as well as the game's appeal in general.

In some cases, I am willing to compromise believability for the sake of other things. In other cases, the lack of believability makes things all the more interesting, and sometimes even more real.

Now, if a boobtubed Jill bothers you for the whole ridicilousness of it, it is for the very same reason that I find it a good idea. It's all about how you look at it.

P.S. I like Steve. I know many people dislike him, but I feel it's pure bias.

There are numerous reasons she could be dressed like that. I really don't see the point in complaining about it.

        1. Along with being a STARS member, she was also a part-time street walker.
        2. She was playing dress-up at the time of the outbreak.

Maybe yes, but there are more reasons why she shouldn't be dressed like that during a zombie outbreak :/.

          • How about when there is a zombie outbreak you really don't have that much time to get ready because i was always lead to beleive it spreads very fast.

Perhaps the last thing she has on her mind was getting changed? Seriously what is wrong with you guys, so she dresses a little more revealing i don't care.

The game isn't real although it is gaining alot more realism as of late, we cannot change it now..

I find this a very funny arguement, females actually don't like a girl who can kickass in any clothes? She isn't exactly that exposed so you can call it sexist, now if she wore a bikini and her boobs were huge in the game cutscenes to a point that they almost fall out THAT is sexist.

So NO i disagree totally at the sexist comments, it's just a game aswell.. I asked a few girls about this before if they found it offensive and they said no.

They pretty much frowned and said why would we find that offensive or sexist? It's about as sexist as giving Chris Redfield giant muscles to attract girls in real life to the game lol.

I don't find Chris Redfields new muscles sexist either to be honest, i am more jealous because i lift weights also and can relate.. though it will take me forever to get to his stage.

What a character wears can tell you alot about their personality, lets face it who is going to play a game with boring, bland and ugly characters who have no sex appeal and no personality who wear turtle necks and hobbies include collecting bottle caps...

Exactly, they would be stupid if they didn't use it because sex appeal sells more than realism when it comes to the way a character looks.

Jill had her own sex appeal before trekking through a zombie-infested city in a tube top, mini-skirt and hooker boots. She was sexy in RE1, in her pixelated glory. She was a smart, tough girl...that's sex appeal in itself. People seem to forget that sex appeal does not equate to tits popping out of a tube top.

Seriously, I don't get how people are still trying to defend this stupid, stupid point. It was FAN-SERVICE...THAT'S IT.

                    Jill in RE3 = Fan-service.
                    Ada in RE4 = Fan-service.
Nariko from Heavenly Sword = Fan-service.
Rachel in Ninja Gaiden Sigma = Fan-service.
                    EVERYTHING about Final Fantasy X-2 = Fan-service.

In these cases, fan-service = sexy, scantily-clad women to please the male gamers. End of story. Trying to rationalize why these women wore what they wore is like trying to rationalize Gary Busey's actions on a day-to-day basis.

                    Take the goddamn blinders off.

I don't see hooker boots on Jill. They don't have a 5" heel and they end below the knee. I see stylish brown low-heeled designer boots. Same goes for the rest of Jill's apparel.
I didn't find Jill sexy in her 'pixelated glory'. That's twisted.
'Smart' and 'tough' are personal qualities, and while they may be good qualities, I don't see how this is sex appeal.
Tits popping out of a tube top is sex appeal, plain and simple.
Fan service to the side, aesthetic value also counts here.
Last but not least, why should all that be a bad thing?

                      • I like the reason from the book: Easy to move about it and hard for it to get caught on things. Makes sense really. Okay, she looks like a bit of a hooker but who cares?

Okay, maybe Carlos cared, but still.

I introduce you, sir, to Jill Valentine.

                          Spoiler:

You'll notice the dull, bland uniform she wears completely put a lot of people off buying the first Resident Evil. But I understand, you could be talking about her everyday clothes. Fair enough. I mean, most woman can't look hot in normal clothes can they?

                          Spoiler:

                          Guess not...

Honestly, I could care less if Jill wore a clown suit when not at work. For me this isn't about Jill being sexy, but the outfit being out of place. Of course Jill could wear that on her days off. It's her choice. But, we know several things.

1 - Jill knew the outbreak was imminent. She'd know what the mysterious bodies vanishing meant, what the strange violence and folks biting meant. Raccoon City didn't fall in a day or a few hours. It went in about a week. Jill had time to get prepared.

2 - Despite her previous fights with zombies she chose to get prepared by first wearing the most revealing outfit in her wardrobe, the one that offered the least resistance to zombies and was generally uncomfortable to wear.

Right. That makes a boat load of sense.

Look, folks, feel free to love the hotness. No one's gonna stop you. But the outfit makes about as much sense as smothering yourself in special source and chicken dancing your way through the damned streets. It was fan service.

And, the part I have a problem with, fan service that makes the character look like a mentally deficient high schooler. 'Huh...survival or looking hawt? Well, you never know when you'll meet that sexy Southern guy...there accents drive me crazy!' Jill ain't dumb, yet makes the dumbest possible choice for her own survival.

                            • This arguement is stupid...there have always been(and always wil be) women in media wearing unrational(which is subjective anyway) sexy clothes(Wonder Woman,Ms. Marvel and a slew of other comic book heroines,Selena in Underworld,Ayumi in X-Blades,Lara Croft,Regina in Dino Crisis, almost any female in a JRPG,Anime,Bloody Roar,King of Fighters,Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur,Cammy,Sakura and Chun Li in Street Fighter, Blood Rayne that chick in WET...etc)

sorry to tell you but Sex sells get over it...

and it's not just the females fanservice is everywhere look at Leon in RE4 Chris in Re5 Nero and Dante in DMC and that guy from uncharted

and I thought I TAKE things too seriously...shesh dudes

long post but that's my opinion just like it's my opinion RE3 Jill looks decent(and not like a hooker it's not like they gave her a tiny leather outfit and stiletto heels.)

                              • ...and if I gave a shit about the sexy clothes I'd certainly be depressed by that list. Is what I actually give a shit about the fact that they've done fan service at the cost of the character? Why yes. Yes it is.
