Is someone trying to say Jill is a side character? Wow what you smoking. She is the main female heroine, look at the buzz that came from showing her tombstone this game wouldnt be nowhere near as hyped up if it wasnt for Jill like it or not. Gotta be honest if Jill wasnt going to be in this game I really would have been disapointed with it. Just because Capcom had a hardon for Leon latley I gurantee you Jill is a main character in this series.

Well yeah she is a side character in Re5 but overall she has starred in Resident Evil 1 + 3. Chris was a side character in Code but now he stars in his own game just because she is a side character in re5 doesnt make her a side character overall. You are telling me there is no way she will star an Re game ever again?

In response to everything in general...
- Uh, I love the new gameplay style. But I wasn't really old enough to appreciate Resident Evil when it first came out sooo... yeah. I guess I like the newer style as it seems to be the trend for games today.
- Regardless of whatever anyone else is saying, Jill is going to be an important part of RE5. She was important in the first EVER resident evil game right along with Chris. She was never "just" anything. That said, I think that capcom really stressed that the names Jill and Chris go together - they will always be associated with one another in SOME way (even in RE3 where he wasn't her partner, they still made it a point to mention that Jill would somehow find a way back to him).
I think Capcom has also made it a point to display the bond between them... through small cutscenes like the hug in REmake, the head on shoulder rest in REmake and the holding of hands in the original RE. And I'm not just spewing random Chris/Jill fangirl crap here. I think it's because of that kind of emphasis on their bond that she's going to play a big role in RE5. She's too important to Chris - too much of a key person in his life, not to be involved with whatever the hell happens to him now.
Again, the names Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine just seem to go hand in hand. You can't think of one name without somehow associating it with the other.
- I love Jill and I thought the Los Jilluminados thing was funny...
- I will probably cry if Jill dies (again?). No lie. If they give her a bad ending, I will be strongly displeased (haha, and so will Chris). I haven't been a fan of RE for long so, coping out due to an upsetting character death seems reasonable for me (though I probably won't have enough will to resist the next RE games that follow, despite whether I'm upset at Jill's possible death or not ).
- lol @ ChrisRedfield29's sig. I thoroughly enjoy it.

I think the virals videos are brilliant. I might not like how they portray how Chris will end up but still its great marketing. Between those and the Kijuju blog, they really did a great job with viral marketing for this game.
A happy ending for Chris or Jill would mean they pretty much couldnt bring either back again for another game. Which is fine, as I either want a happy ending or an ending which at least leaves it open to continue somewhere. I am however not really a fan of the ChrisXJill pairing. There has never been any indication that they are anything but partners/friends, and if I recall Jill has/had a boyfriend...although I cant remember where I saw that. Might of been a picture in a file in one of the games.

Oh, here was I expecting a major backlash. I guess this really isn't REFan. And that's great. No sarcasm here. I hate that crap shack excuse for a forum.
Um, and lolrants. You people need to browse 4chan to boost your radar for catching jokes and trolls, bad ones of the former should be ignored, and the entirety of the latter should be treated in the same fashion.
Ok, to the person that said Jill has been through shit and might now be weak. To me, I'd just pass that off as just another day in DF. The only way you get in is if you are so obsessively against being beaten that you are fully prepared to put your body and mind through, quite literally, anything from torture to grievous injury, just to achieve a sense of self-satisfaction. Being dumped in the jungle alone and hunted perpetually night-and-day, then tortured, is about as tough as "training" gets. So much so, no SAS or, believe, DF operative has ever, ever been compromised in any operation undertaken in a similar environment.
And, since I'm, like, a lamely huge fan of RE, I have, admittedly, been keeping up with news on RE5 like it mattered as much as oxygen. And unless there is anything concrete I have missed, I'd just say: prove it. We don't even know for sure Jill will be in this, let alone what she (might) look like under that rag, as she (potentially) stands next to Wesker, after going through whatever she (possibly) has. Besides, Wesker's a smart guy. Why cram such a spectacular, spectacularly fictional, human specimen full of potentially debilitating meds over some other, merely average, candidate?
Vindictive Wesker may be, yes, but sadistic, I don't believe so.
I'm thinking more along the lines of a potential indoctrination case, if anything of note has been done at all. Sure, he might hurt her to get to Chris, but, unless you lot are getting swept away in a torrent of wild fan fiction, there has never been any indication that he and Jill are more than colleagues. Jill had a boyfriend while at STARS, and it wasn't Chris. (I'm pretty sure Claire would have been able to recognise her brother in a photo, be it on Jill's desk at STARS mid zombie-infestation or not, no matter how he was dressed or had his hair done).
Forgot where I was going with that. I blame the retro SID tunes I'm listening to for that wild tangent.
Also, numerous polls on the long-running fansites have been run over the years on the fandom's favoured character. One guess who wins most of the time. And, polls/interviews internally amongst Capcom staff have reached much the same verdict. Significant figures in the staff prefer Jill. She gets shipped in all sorts of spin-offs. Just because bricks aren't hurled through windows when Jill supposedly gets 'off-ed' doesn't mean we stopped liking her less. It just means that the fans that have been around just grew up (at least a little).
I'm not trying to prove that by sharing the same opinion I, or anyone else, is great or right (seeing as I usually, by nature, ally myself with some obscure underdog in the fictional line-up), but that it is, essentially, the staff that matter when it comes to creative decisions. Creators are attached to their creations.
Oh ya, and to spark a fight, I loved RE4, played it to exhaustion on all it's released platforms, but, I prefer the old RE, and do not acknowledge RE4 as being at all true to the much-matured RE gaming mechanic.

I'll still play the series even though it has become something different to what I loved. I just choose to try and ignore the Resident Evil in the title, tend to think of RE4 as "Chronicles Of Leon" so 5 would be "Chronicles Of Chris". The only points I've hated since the game changed is that it masquerades as a Resident Evil.
To be fair if there was T like viruses in the world, what is there not to say there wouldn't be other biological horrors.
3. no more zombies
Unfortunately the general plot has taken some rather drastic turns at certain points. And Capcom not finishing properly the Umbrella Saga didn't really help. It's first real drastic turn was resurrecting Wesker, seemed like a good idea at the time. But giving him Matrix moves seemed kind of cool but I feel has belittled the series. When did Wesker have instant transmission? The second was moving on from Umbrella without finishing it properly, then butchering it with Umbrella Chronicles. Basically I think no one at Capcom had any real idea of how to finish the umbrella saga, and fear of loosing their cashcow, rewrote Wesker back in to drive the stories sequels. Resident Evil could have gone so well if Umbrella went down well then they could have shifted attentions to new ideas of Bio-Terror/weapons, then throw some of the classics in now and again for nostalgia.
The problem I find with characters being killed is that you've spent so much time in previous titles getting them to survive, that you hope they have the "Happily Ever After" ending or at least live to a ripe old age before popping their clogs. Now if it turns out Jill died whilst saving Chris from a Secret Umbrella lab full of hundreds of Nemesis's then I could probably accept her death. However, if she died because of some random lesser monster, which wouldn't even be concidered a smear on Nemesis's boot, then I'll be rather outraged. I'll be even more pissed off if she was sitting in her comfy sofa and was killed just to further the plot (I'm looking at you Konami, for gods sake he killed a "God", a lesser nobody monster shouldn't have gotten him ).
I'll just have to wait to see what the new installment brings.

She "died" on a mission with Chris, at the hands of Wesker. The nature of the death leaves it open that we don't actually see her die but its assumed. Also at the hands of Wesker instead of a random BoW...it fuels the rivalry between Wesker/Chris. Some argue that this kind of death screams out "not really dead".

Also the other post that i noticed had a good point about:
Spoiler:
Jill not really being dead, Wesker doing something to her that wipes her memories or maybe even some kinda parasite but Chris thinking she is dead.
Who knows why Chris thinks that she is actually dead, maybe Wesker made it look that way if he really did attack her and Chris was there at the same time.
Ah also on another note, just because someone has a boyfriend or a girlfriend doesn't mean they can't have feelings for someone else aswell, you can't just turn off your emotions to someone.
I'm refering to Jill here, if she did like Chris previous and the feelings may have got even stronger over the years of fighting side by side with him.. It's all possible, but one thing i am pretty sure of is that they really do care about one another. whether it is a caring for a friend or something more i'm not too sure.
My opinion isn't really decided, i will make my mind up in resident evil 5 by the way Chris reacts and if he can really get through to her if she is in this game that is.Last edited by BlackHeart; 02-23-2009, 08:14 PM.

I remember Capcom saying there would be something 'beyond our imagination' in RE5 (I'm not sure those were the exact words), and I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with Jill. I wonder what would be so amazingly surprising after all that speculation. Not that I am underestimating Capcom, but it's not going to be easy for them to pull off something like that now. I am hoping for it though. I hope Capcom will indeed show us something 'beyond our imagination', but whatever it is, I hope it's a good surprise. I admit, I'm kind of excited.

I was merely saying that the emphasis on their connection and strong bond will be the reason why Jill will always be interwoven into what will happen with Chris, therefore, she is bound to play an important role in RE5. Capcom has made it so that when you think of one you can't help but think of the other. They will always be associated with one another in some way.

BUUUUT. I am quite aware that nothing was ever outright stated about any romantic relationship between them. I'm just a fan of the idea. I hope that's okay with you all
(and there is very little GOOD Chris/Jill fanfiction out there, thankyouverymuch )
But she must have one hell of a boyfriend there - leaving her to rot all alone in Raccoon City. And I do love how she talks about him and not Chris in all of her journal entries [/sarcasm]
Jill's boyfriend = epic fail. If he's still around.Last edited by blaze; 02-23-2009, 08:37 PM.

I remember this, they said "there would be something in Re5 that would shock the fans". I always asumed it was something to do with Jill but now I think the whole Jill thing is like a distraction like they gonna tease you with something then hit you with something else.
