I'm not gonna read all that... Especially not about Sergei.

I'll tell you why I don't like him though, and the #1 reason is very simple:

Who the hell is this guy?? I mean, we've never heard of him before, then suddenly Capcom says, "Oh no, he was actually there all along... Meddling behind the scenes... You just didn't see him. But he's actually a part of the storyline all along..."
That's the worst way to introduce a character. It can be done, and only rarely is it done well (like in Lost), but Capcom does not have the writing prowess to make it effective. So all they did was just kind of threw him in there, and made him out to be this big badass like he was important to the storyline, when.. If they had never introduced him to the storyline, nothing would have changed. People wouldn't say, "There's some things that are unexplained."

Suddenly he's Spencer's lap dog? Get outa here!

There are more reasons, like his appearance and how he's portrayed, but I'm not gonna get into it. I'd rather not have to think about Sergei so much.

      Albert Wesker!
He's the main bad guy that givs the heros a cause and is behind the scenes in almost every RE game.

I neglected to mention, Andy Lancaster.

He's the reason for all the so-called "plotholes". Why the window that Nemesis smashes through in RE3 is fixed by the time of RE2, and why the door is no longer boarded up in RE2 in the main hall.
              See you in hell.

Is anyone actually still bothered by those?

I'd take Alfred over Marcus any day. Apart from how ridiculous James Marcus looks in the context of the story, you realize that he's as flat and useless as they come. Upon reading his files you feel no real sympathy regarding the way Umbrella treated him, because he's warped enough as it is. Alfred's files and the ones about the Ashfords really portray the family a lot more tragically than its sole representatives would have you believe, and it adds to CVX's story. So I voted for Marcus, but that's only because he created the RE MacGuffin.

                      I don't mind the barricades in RE3 >_>

Or the fact that the window is intact in RE2. Continuity errors are common in the films the games are inspired by. It's all in all insignificant and if you can play the game to the end and appreciate it then it's no more than an afterthought.

We weren't supposed to feel sorry for Marcus. Or Birkin. Or most of Umbrella.
The only reason I felt anything for Alfred was because he was deluded. First in his feelings for his sister and second in his belief that killing Claire will somehow make his family less of a joke.
The only Ashford vaguely sympathetic was Alexander. He just wanted to make some smart kids but the smart kids were psychopaths.

Pretend like the window is missing in RE2? Someone could've unbarricaded them? I don't care anymore. I avoid those camera angles, simple as that.

What bothered me more is the whole changes in the entire structure in Outbreak. The weird 5 piece puzzle where the unicorn medal is supposed to go, etc. etc. New furniture... I mean, it was made there for gameplay purposes. But I don't consider those aspects canon. Simple as that.

                                You'd have to say Wesker.

He's the only real villain left that people care about. An all around bad character, he gets mentions in every game, and has that amazing rivalry with Chris that's the catalyst for Resident Evil 5 basically.

He won't be killed off until the final game. He's also probably not my all time favorite RE character (he's my favorite villain in a game) but he's the most important character in my book. Once Wesker's gone, they'll be struggling to replace him villain wise.
