I don't need to back my opinion up except to say that there is nothing remarkable about Chris Redfield. He is probably the hugest cog with the least emotions to me.

Well, to each their own. I'll just stick with my original assumption of who you think is an "awesome" RE character...Last edited by Jill's Boob; 12-02-2008, 09:17 PM.

Well, It's JILL! I find her the strongest character. RE3 showcased this, as she seems to mentor Carlos in a subtle way, with her experience with T-virus monsters. RE1 seems to give her more personal trouble than Chris's scenario, i.e. Barry's betrayal.
I can see how people would appreciate Chris as a comfortable and challenging playable character, but I don't think any of his story has any significance besides the obvious need to save someone/himself.

Fair enough. Thank God you didn't say Leon was the prototypical RE character.
I can see why people think of Chris as a dullard...but lets reserve judgment until the guy gets a full game to himself, like Jill had in RE3 & Leon had in RE4. Without an entire game for character development, series' vets like Chris, Barry, Rebecca, and Claire have not been fully explored.

Since it's likely the end on the original plot as we know it, any further games in the series will have to start a new story arc so yes, I think Wesker will lose and Chris will prevail and be the hero as always. However, I think it would be nice if both Chris and Wesker both die,( Chris could have a cool self sacrifice end ), and thus will bring closure to the story and characters and an ending to a wonderful era of Resident Evil before it turns into something totally different. Of course, that will never happen because people are to f*cking greedy."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

We've never had a chance to really get to know most of the characters in Resident Evil, if you think about it. The games have never been story-heavy. When have we ever learned about these characters' pasts before just taking control of them and being thrust into a world filled with monsters? If you think about it, Billy Coen has as much character development as any of the characters in Resident Evil. Maybe in RE4, when we saw Leon reunite with Ada, and Krauser...two people from his past. I expect more of this same stuff in RE5...hopefully better though.
All the characters are pretty faceless, emotionless. You're given an objective, and you complete it. There's not much character development in Resident Evil. We never really learn about just who these people are.
Who is Chris, really? He was a drifter. He was in the Air Force...and?
Who is Jill, really? She picks locks. Her father was a criminal...and?
