And yes, it would actually make sense for Alice to be able to lay out a pack of enemies with one punch, or to dive out of a second story window unscathed.

Well the heroes of RE have always been unrealistic in their abilities. How many times were Alfred and Steve shot in CV?
Not that Al is a hero. Just the RE characters in general I meant.

they should just make the games about Alice from now on, then they wouldn't need to get the 'ol butcher knife out again and use it on more characters.

They were getting slashed by metal-rending talons and walking it off though if we're talking game mechanics like Leon diving out windows.
Heck, in cutscenes, they could walk it off like Ada getting slashed by Birkin and then lugging around a rocket launcher. Actually, I think it's Leon B so she actually got slammed against a giant metal thing by Mr. X and then lugged around a rocket launcher.

Oh and didn't Nemesis hit Carlos with a rocket in a cutscene in RE3? Maybe it just hit near him.
