So if one cant connect with a human character, why not make it into an alien saga?
Get your eyes open! There're mutant human-flies and giant mutant-flesheating-plants and other crap in the series that've been popular last at least 20 years ago! Aliens aren't there just because the franchise don't need them. *Yet...*
PS. sorry, man, I didn't understand what you were meaning at first, so the answer is not for you... But still, I think someone will understand what I'm implying on.
Well the RE series isn't real. It might as well be honest to itself and be cheesy and overracted.
partially agreed... The RE is totally not real, but it's style is a "serious-fiction", so it's overreacted in another way than making the characters with the behavior of Spiderman...
Hell even the zombies weren't in the movie too long. I would have been happier with some more of them.
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but the zombies became absolutely unpopular in the universe of Resident Evil after creating first BOW... That's normal, since zombies are, like, in every second horror movie/game, and building the whole story from them is just too usual and boring...
Leon's apathy isn't received well by everyone.
Hey, I like that about him... *drooool*
Go back to your emo world, Leon.
I just can't hold myself, sorry... Emo's are the contrary from Leon's "I-dont-give-a-about-everything"! If Leon would cry or just make the unhappy face even once (!) in the whole series (apart from when he's cicked), I wouldn't say that...

Just wondering... How was Leon "more sensitive" in the RE2? *I know, I know, no discussions about him, but still...*
And he's NOT saying "cheesy liners"! He's saying normal things, he's just so cool that it sounds like that.
PS. On the part of Degeneration: I liked it.

Whether the series is real or not, its characters ARE real. They are "real people". So if one cant connect with a human character, why not make it into an alien saga? Youre basically trying to say "So, the series are crap, so why shouldnt the characters be".
The moment Claire "I'm nothing but a college girl who likes bikes" Redfield started infiltrating top secret labs and taking out swarms of armed guards, the characters lost all realism.
And that's not even getting into the over-the-top villains.

Partially true. But the highest rated action movie was released in 2008, and was gritty, realistic in its own setting and dark.
    What movie was this?

Lets put it this way. Leons apathy is better received than Leons jackassery.
    To each their own.

    Yes, he did.
On the promo art he even looks like Steve from those Hong-Kong comic books.

He looked like someone with a Down syndrome. His eyes were just too much apart.

    Your logic is weird.

Claire needed the gun to get out of a life threatening situation. She didn't use or want to have to use one otherwise. She's not a fighter anymore, as it's referenced in the scene where Leon mentions how him and her brother are on a different path than she is.

    I loved it!

    Spoiler:

I really got into the whole movie. Unlike the real movies where I kind of just sat there. Not saying the real ones are horrible (I have yet to see Extinction) but Degeneration was really good. Thumbs up hope to see more.

Leon had no visible ass in Degeneration. He was like a piece of wood, painted to look like Leon and then propped up in the middle of the scene.

They could have at least used the RE4 model.

Is it just me, or did Degen Leon look slightly Asian?

I actually just recently saw a similar jacket to Leons in RE4. It looked horrible. But what was with that high cut in Deg-s jacket?

Criticizing one character in the RE series for being cheesy and unoriginal is unfair. The series built itself on those principles and has strode to maintain them for years.
Youre confusing CAPCOMs incompetence with aimed goals.

What amazes me the most about people complaining about Leons apathy (INCLUDING the scene where CurtisĀ“ house is burning), is that they dont know that this is how people in real life act. Or are Americans truly that emotional? Ive seen more people die than most would see in their lifetime, and never, not once, did I feel or act like Leon did when Luis died. Unless you fake it, you basically do nothing to express it. So if someone you dont know, their house is on fire, and even if they are crying, you dont break down and go emotional. You stay polite and let them deal with it.

Oh, I gotta say Leon's RE4 Jacket still owns his Degeneration jacket. The Degen jacket is just bland and doesn't stand out at all.

It may boil down to whether you like to be impressed by overreacting and overacting, drama and cheese, or would you like to see parallels drawn to real life. If you kill dozens (I dont think its canonical, but still, 900 kills) of people who feel pain, you dont crack jokes. It is, afterall, srs bsnz.
Well the RE series isn't real. It might as well be honest to itself and be cheesy and overracted.

The times when John McClane kind of characters were cracking jokes and killing people off hand and off hip with a machine gun that kicks enough to scew up your aim, are pretty much over.
I guess that explains why the best action movies are 1 or 2 decades old.

I guess we actually were given the real Leon back. I never liked the character that much, but apart from the horrid face he had in Degeneration, he left an impression of a professional with inside knowledge, modesty and balls. Thats cool in subtlety. And from what I see, most people appreciate that.
Leon's apathy isn't received well by everyone.

It was cheesy, unoriginal, out of place and inappropriate. Youre supposed to like it when youre 12, not when youre 18. Or, if its comedy.

Did it bug anyone else where they decided to place Leon's whole "Our lives were changed by Umbrella"/*insert Raccoon City clips*? Okay, yes, some audiences may need to be told this, but how they implemented it kinda made it seem like Leon was treating Claire like an idiot... >_>

I don't even liked Claire and I was disappointed.

Seriously, why even bring up the whole "She's a Raccoon City Survivor/has experience" line if they're just going to give her less than 30 seconds where she's actually fighting...? -__-

And if Leon had a spare gun, why didn't he give it to Claire to begin with? Especially with her aim, it wouldn't help to clear the room faster...
