I wonder if there is any open source or closed source unnoficial C++ resident evil engine out there....
Might be interesting I even thought about making one... But I'm lazy as hell

The Tomb Raider level editor only came out with TR5, the last game in Core's "block" series.

SDK stands for Software Developers Kit, which is pretty much a compiled bunch of software you use to create (or in our case, mod) the game. Theres pretty much everything included, like mapping, skinning and modelling tools, the likes.

Dark Biohazard will cause me to buy a PC copy of Resident Evil 2, which is one more then Capcom would have sold otherwise. They should be pleased.

Well I can't wait for Degeneration. It looks good.
On a side note Dark Biohazard will most likely be a zip file that either overwrites RE2's existing files/or created new directories for the new Exe to run. If its based off the old RE2 Exe it will not run unless you have the original RE2 disk in the drive. I can't see why capcom would sue him. He hasn't been told to stop and he's been around a long time.

--Obvious spoilers follow--
*Whilst that Umbrella was a reference to the company of the same name, using everyday objects against Zombies is very Dead Rising
* Curtis Miller seems to me to be very like Carlito from Dead Rising, especially with their sisters (Angela/Isabella) opposing them, their appearance is similar and both are heavily involved in the outbreaks, both were motivated to do something about coverups (Curtis was used as a scapegoat for the deliberate outbreaks, Carlito was seeking revenge for a massacre at his home town due to an Outbreak.) Angela especially looks like Isabella at the very end.
There were one or two other things I noticed but I can't remember them at the moment. I just thought it was interesting and since both are made by Capcom I'm sure they are intentional references.
I think you're over reading the Claire // Umbrella thing.
Spoiler:
She doesn't attack anyone with it (but obviously intends to should she need to).
The other parallels are certainly interesting. But I'm not sure which part you mean Angela looks like Isabella.Last edited by TheSelfishGene; 12-10-2008, 08:47 AM.

Well, even if they don't, it's for a non-profit project and so they can get away with it. Otherwise mine and Enrico's ass would have been sued years ago.
And yeah, it's virtually a new game. Which makes it sweeeeet. But he's still gonna be using the RE2 engine from the CD, and simply replacing little things like the rooms, models, enemies and movies. Which is quite a lot of the game but, what with still needing the engine, on the disc, to work...
And thus ends any discusion as to whether Dark Biohzard, a free mod, can be compared to downloading a movie before it's released in your country.

I think the only possible infraction the Dark Biohazard team might make is releasing the mod using Capcom's assets without proper authorization, but I'm willing to wager that they are going to eventually change what little remains of the original game, like some models and such.Last edited by Rock it.; 12-10-2008, 06:39 AM.
