^ I don't think it's just Leon that Capcom don't have a clue what to do with. It's the serie's as a whole. The serie's has plot holes everywhere, there was a random retcon of the serie's which I feel has ruined it. Capcom have begun turning their ordinary characters into superhuman's. The mytho's and timeline's have been cocked up, too.

So, what I'm basically saying is Capcom are clueless with their own f**king game serie's.

It's one thing to remain professional on the mission, but when you act as a "pro" even when cheering up your friend or talking with a woman you fallen in love with -- that sound like an emotionless guy to me.

It's kind of sad, because it seems Capcom don't really know what they want to do with Leon. In RE2 he was a rookie, an ordinary guy in a non-ordinary situation. In RE4 he was over the top super agent with lots of stunt action and lame one liners. In RE: Degeneration he is a guy that wants so much to act like a "pro" he shows no emotionon at all :/. The same guy, three different characters.

He was human as seen by the many times hs's beaten or killed and the different emotions he did express during the game.
Next time you see an expertly trained government agent crack jokes after he has killed some people, or cry over the death of someone he barely knows, let me know. He wasnt human, his character was designed with "badass for kiddies" in mind. And seems to me it worked wonderfully. By "human", I mean "realistic", and not a shell that can show something remotely close, yet far away, from what makes a human a human.

If youre a professional, you dont act like an overblown action hero. Unless youre a character in a videogame marketed to sub 12 year olds. Have you ever seen SWAT members cheer after theyve successfully breached a building and neutralised a barricaded suspects situation?

But hey, I'll reserve judgment until I see Degeneration. It seems like the typical exaggeration of RE4 haters though.
No. As a matter of fact, the "typical RE4 haters" see his character as a little bland. But reality often lacks colours you see in games and movies. Hence his character is being balanced by a little more emotional (feminine) Claire Redfield. RE4 haters have been honest about what they are seeing. You sure youre not mixing something up?

He may have been professional but he certainly wasn't human. I haven't seen Degeneration yet, although I expect Leon to be a real low point for the movie, but in RE4 when does Leon show his human side? When he throws a few oneliners out? When he doesn't show any fear despite clearly facing a new threat, one he doesn't know and isn't trained to do? When he doesn't seem bothered by the fact a parasite in his head is taking control of him?

Training can only do so much. Experience can only do so much. There comes a point where a person should be terrified of an enemy, regardless. Even if Leon knows about the enemies, as with Degen, that shouldn't mean he isn't afraid of them. Hell, just because you know about guns, have trained to face guns, doesn't mean you can stare down a gun barrel without fear or flinching.

Death is scary. Becomming a zombie or other B.O.W, knowing you might hunt and kill your friends and family, is worse.

Which is a LOT more realistic, natural, human and EXPECTED from a trained pro. His composure changed a little when he had to deal with the G monster which shows that unexpected can still provide him a kick, but since he has dealt with one before, he wasnt shitting his pants.

He was a LOT more human, natural, professional and through that, cooler and better character than in RE4. RE4 was crap.

I don't have any problem with Leon's behavior in the movie, he is a pro, he is tired of fighting the remains of Umbrella and he is commited to the destroy the virus from the face of the world, my problem is his interaction with Claire, I was expecting something more "emotional". he don't need to be a hero around Claire.

And the scuba diving thing is silly to me.

General Grandé is shown at the very beginning of the film on a newscast.

It's not that he lacks emotion. He's just put into a situation where he needs to take control. As MoS said, he's a professional. He's been through the same circumstances before and knows the drill. So he goes through as he should.

He still screams after Angela in the most unintentionally hilarious scene ever, he still cares.

    "Run!"
    "What?"
    "RUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!"

In every clip from RE: D that I saw, Leon showed no emotion, at all. :/ Every time the same look at his face, every time the same pose (standing straight)... if he's always like that in the film, then no wonder people complain about him.
Not to mention, I liked his looked more in RE4 than in the film; here, he looks... weird and unnatural.

I think Leon's (good) change in character can be attributed to Kamiya directing rather than Mikami. This must just be how Leon was going to be in 3.5.

And that makes me wish they made 3.5 even more.

However, while I like his stern demeanor, I don't like the fact that he has zero emotion.
