I didn't play UC with super high expectations, but I enjoyed it a lot all the same.

The game was not made for new generation gamers to introduce them into the series. It was made for the fans who were already into the series, so judging it by that gives it a lot more points. It was good for freshening up your memory of what happened, while filling in some of the game's plotholes and making the series as a whole seem a lot more connected. That was what it was pretty much made for, and by that they did a really good job with it. Also, nice graphics for the older game chapters.

I do hate this game... I propably won't play it again. It was a BIG let down. They ruined most of the characters. Voice actors were ridiculous. Jill was left like a total idiot like Paul Anderson did with Jill in his crappy movies. The most I hate of it is how they managed to ruin things that were unknown for us, giving hilariuous explanations...

Also, the scene of Jill with the pipe... Gosh I loathe that scene...

REUC should have never existed. I'd rather play Survivor or Outbreaks instead of this...

I did like the music remixes they did for the game, like the music they used for the T-002 battle on the heliport. That was great, or the Nemesis battle atop the RPD.
        See you in hell.

Yeah, like I said, that's my one guilty pleasure. But then I have the soundtrack, so I don't need to play the game to actually enjoy the score.

It almost completely ignores RE2, so I was all ready pissed about that before playing, let alone the hell that awaited. They also ignored Code Veronica, but I don't really care about that too much.

Here are the negatives that make me despise UC:

Voice acting to rival RE1 on PSX.
            Pointless exposition scenes.
            Stupid plot points.
Gameplay went from ridiculously easy to ridiculously difficult in a matter of seconds. I'm a big fan of lightgun games, but bloody hell, the gameplay was broken.
And the worst part of it all: No Leon. No Claire. No "Chickenheart" Brad. Aside from Richard and Rebecca, no one else from Bravo Team (I mean it was wasted potential; we could have seen what actually happened to each of them, but nah, we didn't, bullshit). No Barry. No Nicholai. No G Virus. So many characters ousted. Fuck you, Capcom. Fuck you.

Wesker's scenario was the only part I took as canon, it was interesting to see him escape the Mansion Incident after being "killed", and I did like his line about escaping death. Aside from that, the game, even a "fun" lightgun shooter, is an utter mess.

That's a bit harsh. It's voice-acting way outclasses RE1. In fact, I give the game kudos for giving Richard a decent voice-actor for the first time in his career.

I'd like to buy it. But only when it's at a huge discount. Like say, $10. When UC was first announced I was pretty excited but the combination of no RE2, lazy design of RE3, Sergei, and other things has made me not buy it.

                    Nope.

In some cases, I found it even worse. Richard was ok though, but I can't name a single other decent actor, except maybe Carlos but I don't remember his voice too well (his RE3 actor was still miles better).

Even if UC had bad VAs it can't compare with those legendary atrocities.
I didn't say that UC was as bad as RE1, but it is fucking terrible in it's own right.

Here's the difference with the voice acting. In RE1, the cast was untalented, but what they did, they tried to do realistically. Like they were voicing over a live action movie. The characters had serious voices (Rebecca aside), they just had no voice TALENT.
With Umbrella Chronicles, they got a bunch of experienced voice actors and had those actors do their voices like they were voicing a cartoon.

It breaks my heart knowing that Mary Elizabeth Glyn (the singer in all the vocal tracks in the Silent Hill games) was the voice director for UC. She should just stick to singing.

                          I liked this game.

For the Record. Its been decided before that Most of UC is NOT cannon. Only the parts that don't contradict any previous games are cannon.
Example: Jill and Carlos were never in the RPD at the same time.

                          The game is fun.

I really like the House of the Dead Games, so this just appealed to me.

It was worth it to see Rebbecca covered in blood.

I was extremely dissapointed with the so called "umbrella headquarters". I just don't think it fit in at all. It felt to me like they had designed a generic base level and then tried to make up for it by throwing every monster ever at you. The "ultimate Weapon" monster was also crap, it looked totally out of place like it should be in Unreal Tournament or Gears of War. Pretty weak, I think this was one of the things that should have been left to the imagination, or at least not put on the wii so it could have had more depth and some decent graphics. The Ivans were also weird...Mr.X with a fashion sense is not very intimidating. Aside from all that, it did have it's moments. My favorite part of the game was probably all the cut scenes that filled in some plot holes.

The two IVAN Tyrants made me think of The Twins from Matrix Reloaded. That's what I think.

I didnt like UC because there was so much potential and it was all wasted on less than mediocre concepts.
