  • Status of Resident Evil 1.5

Hello. I was wondering the status of the hunt of 1.5. I apologize if this has already been addressed millions of times, but I tried to use the search function and have found that "1.5" is ommited from search results due to being too small of a quantifier. I've been waiting for years as most of you probably have for the release of any playable code for this game. I had let the dream die several years ago as no real leads had turned up, but a couple days ago my curiosity peaked and I began searching again. I read all about the Playstation Museum incident, but noticed that on all the forums and websites I searched through the trail went cold around the beginning of January 2008. I don't mean to incite any anger or anything of that sort. I'm just looking to see if by any chance the grail has been found. In conclusion I realize that there hasn't been a public dump of any alpha or beta builds of 1.5 and I am certainly not trolling around for a copy. I would just like to know if any more leads have been found since January 2008. I appriciate any feedback.

The lead started around October 2007, lost it around December.
Theres been nothing more, and thats just that.
Whats ironic is that maybe people are selling 1.5, even now...

Inflames had a chance to get it free, and we could've got it twice from the original seller, and the dude who bought it...
Oh well, we've had no leads from January, sorry to disappoint.

Currently there are no active leads, unfortunately. All resources are closed off at the moment. But it's most likely just time until another legitimate source pops up.

What are you trying to say there is a completed version of 1.5 out there? or just a couple of levels because if so whats this crazy addiction to play a couple of levels of this game. If its a full game fair enough but I mean from what I've seen of 1.5 it doesnt seem all that amazing.

BH 1.5 was very far in development, only about a month or two before completion. The final beta build is roughly 80% complete and mostly fully playable, think BH2 retail beta v.3 just a bit less complete. The final beta does exist, but likely not outside employees and their family members. An earlier build that's less complete than the final, probably roughly around 60%, exists in the hands of at least 1 private collector and confidential details indicate a possibility a couple of other copies of the same build may also be in some other private hands but unconfirmed at this time. It's a very significant beta, for sure, considering it's amount of development time and completion. Work on BH 1.5 began around April/May of 1996. It was scrapped in January or early February of 1997.

As for it being amazing or not, that's subject to individual opinion. Personally, I find many aspects of 1.5 very interesting, and the available media gives it a similar charm in design that I find similar to the design of BH1 original. Not to mention known information about the variation in plot, gameplay mechanics, characters that survive the game instead of die (Marvin, John aka Robert Kendo in retail, possibly Annette), different designs of characters (Linda aka Ada in retail, Irons is a good guy in 1.5, ect) different weapons and entire redesign of the RPD, Sewers, and Factory make it a very interesting alternate BH2 compared to retail. Regardless of whether 1.5 was/is going to be a good game, at this point it's all about the curiosity to explore an abandoned version of BH2 that could have been. Despite the surprisingly large amount of information we have (considering I have over 33 pages of documentation, not including Capcom interviews and images), there's still a large chunk of information missing to really understand everything about 1.5, which is what continues to drive many fans to desire it.

Beta v3? I didn't know one existed... sorry for that.

Yeah, I had sent the seller a few e-mails about it a while while back, but got no response. Too bad though, I was really looking forward to it..

We can only dream of it's release someday.

Beta 1 was 1.5, wasn't it? Then beta 2 is the one with the big collage of images with "the-right-game" written on them, and beta 3 is the widely available BH2 beta 2.

Beta v1 refers to the beta were Claire is playable in BH2.
Beta v2 is the one we have all got.
Beta v3 is the same, but with minor edits.

1.5 had its own beta numbers.

Honestly the beta numbers are really confusing, and even I'm not sure I have it correct.

Beta v.1 is a supposed earlier retail beta that includes Claire and has several changes and additions, including the machinegun in the retail still the same one from 1.5.

Beta v.2 was originally what we called the one we have, but this was changed to a new beta that supposedly contains a full usable debug menu and/or possibly Claire also available. Not much other differences are known, as the supposed owner (I don't remember who it is) isn't giving it up.

Beta v.3 is the common one we have.

BH 1.5 has various different build types of it's own.

Piss off, Gangstafun. You think I'd actually believe you?

                          What's next?

"Oh, his disc broke. He lost it. He lent it to a friend, and the friend's dog sat on the disc and crushed it."

We don't get fooled by stupid claims like that any more. Furthermore, claiming to have a beta and then it getting proved that you're lying leads to a ban.

this has some footage from 1.5 and BH 2 beta 1.

Rare footage of the Resident Evil 2 / Biohazard 2 Beta version 1 from UltraGameplayers. This is not from the beta where you can only play Leon or from Versio...

Ah, very nice. Yep, I saw that footage before, but I didn't know that it was Beta 1. Thanks!
