and you know, if Jill ever did die, Rebecca is the ONLY person i would ever accept as her replacment, Rebecca deserves a bigger role.

I have to disagree with the whole Claire being a retired character. The thing with Claire is that she is the ONLY typical everyday human being in the main series. Not a member of S.T.A.R.S, doesnt work for the goverment, not a secret agent, she does not have all the experience that the other characters have. I mean, she showed up in RE2 as a nineteen year old college student on a motorcycle. Resident Evil needs more characters like Claire. Anyways, you cant just expect her to put a cigarette in her mouth and jump into a army tank. It would make no sense for her to join something like B.S.A.A. knowing she has no experience for that. But im definitely not saying she cant be in any other games. If Capcom ever remakes RE2, which seems likely knowing the games popularity, Claire would definitely be back in the spotlight again.

There are usually a male and female characters in the RE univers;
In RE1 you could pick Jill or Chris. In RE2 you could pick Leon or Claire. In 3 Carlos was usually tagging along. In Zero you played both Rebbecca and Billy in the same game. In 4 Leon was by himself because Ashly was little to no help. I'd like to know what happened to Sherry. In the RE5 '07 trailer they showed a blonde haired lady in a tube, could that be her? Yea,I have to go with Sherry on this one.
Please note I haven't played the REs mentioned above in a while so I was going by memoryLast edited by FBR4Life; 01-08-2009, 03:54 AM.

you have a point there CODE umb, but i agree with cuban olive as well.
Originally posted by CubanOlive07I have an akward feeling that Capcom is trying to right off Claire from the series. Even in Degeneration Leon gives that speech about how she chose to fight a different way. (protesting with Terrasave) They are playing her out to be a tree hugging hippie babysitter. She always gets stuck watching after a child. (Sherry and Roni)
As far as Barry is concerned. He isn't sexy enough to get his own game. Maybe a game with Jill considering his obsession with the Jill Sandwich.
On another note, I haven't played all the games but am I wrong in assuming that Leon is the only character to hog an entire game to himself. ie RE4
she needs to get back into the spotlight, im sick of her being overshadowed by Leon or Chris, and her only story was trying to find Chris anyway, it's like she's a throw away character plot decice just to find Chris, it sucks, i want her to hav a better story next time, all she does is find or look after other characters, i want a game about Claire where she isn't looking for Chris.
and yeah i think capcom just said Barry is to old the teen girls wont like him cause he isn't metro enough
i want my Barry back.
and Jill had abour 95% of RE3 to herself, so Leon and Jill have had there own game basically, and now Chris has to with RE5.Last edited by missvalentine; 01-08-2009, 03:56 AM.

Rebecca's character pretty much stands still for all of RE0. It had to, because she still had to be the naive rookie by the time Chris finds her in RE1.
I also think Jill's character is rather stagnant. From the start of RE3 to the end of RE3, she's pretty much the same woman (and a rather boring one in my opinion). The only characters in the series that seem to have grown are Claire (from citizen, to searching for Chris, to NGO member), Leon (from rookie cop to special agent), and Chris (from cop to BSAA agent). And their motives for changing are quite plausible. I don't think the same can be said for Wesker (cop to virus collector (CVX) to parasite collector (RE4) to data collector (RE:UC), and his motives.... ? Who knows really).
However I think it's only seems that so few characters change from title to title is because not many characters are afforded a sequel.sigpic

But you know, someone who has survived the Raccoon City incident should be more fighter and badass than what they are trying to show with her.
I really like her character, but in DEG they ruined somehow her character, I was like "Omg Angela is absolutely badass!" and then I realized that Claire was supposed to be in that place but no, Capcom wanted her to be in the first place a babysitter.
Jill boring in RE3? She's nothing but a survivor. She managed to kill Nemesis, what do you exactly mean by boring? I see some people here took in extreme way her clothes... You can beat the game and change them into a suitable one if that's what makes you think it's boring.Last edited by Jill Lover; 01-09-2009, 12:04 AM.

Jill starts off RE3 angry at Umbrella. At the end of RE3 she's angry at Umbrella.
Sure she eventually defeats the nemesis, and the biggest adversity she faces in the game is being infected by the T-virus.
She over-comes that adversity by sitting unconscious for a day while someone rescues her. Well done Capcom writers. It's inconsequential anyways, because her character doesn't change because of it. She's still the same old Jill Valentine, as angry as ever at Umbrella.
Am I the only one that thinks Jill is a very one dimensional character??
I completely disagree with what you said about Claire in Degeneation Jill_Lover. I think Claire is the best thing in Degeneration. It advances her character, and re-enforces what we already knew about her from past installments in the franchise.
Claire's actions in the intro of CODE: Veronica mean nothing. It's the motives behind her actions, which was to find Chris. If it was Claire and Leon running around shootin' doods instead of Leon and Angela, that would fly in the face of everything we knew about Claire from prior games. I applaud Capcom for not ruining a good character.sigpic

I believe Jill has very little depth, and it makes me very "blah" with her character. I don't hate her, but I also don't really like her all that much. The Resident Evil series is FULL of far more interesting characters than Miss Valentine. And, if anything good comes out of this whole (possible) "Jill is the Masked Woman" in RE5, then perhaps we will see some character growth for her. That would make me quite happy.
But, otherwise, from previous games, I'm just not impressed with her character. She comes off very stagnant in comparison to Claire, and there's nothing unique about her character to make her stand out from the others. So, she was the "first lady" of Resident Evil. Big deal. Many characters have come and gone since, and plenty of them are more memorable to me than Jill.
My problem with Jill is that she just isn't offering anything to series right now. In RE1 she served as the protagonist who was fighting in an unfamiliar situation, and yes, that worked, but in RE3 she didn't seem to carry anything worthwhile. RE3 served as a point to tell history of Umbrella and Raccoon City and their many attributes, and Jill, being the main character, only seemed to be playing the role of "survivor" again. She didn't connect with other characters who became important to the series (i.e., how Sherry now has a tie to Wesker or how Leon has a tie to Ada, who is somewhat playing on the "villain side"), and by the end of the game, nothing about Jill seemed to change. Like Gene said, she was still the same person angry at Umbrella like she was at the beginning.
What does Jill have to offer that other characters in the series don't? I've always thought Chris as the "main hero" of the series, not Jill, and because the Chris VS Wesker dynamic has increased through the years, I've mostly forgotten about Jill's role in the series. It's not like her ties to Wesker have enhanced through the years. Chris has been written as the one Wesker wants revenge on, leaving Jill to continue very strained from a pivotal role in the series.
