  • Spencer Estate/Training Management facility timeline question

I'm a bit confusing by Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil 0, insofar as that Wesker and Birkin behave as though the T-virus outbreak just occurred that night (July 23, I think?). Wesker uses the outbreak as a reason to break away from Umbrella, which is a sinking ship due to the imminent exposure. But then the outbreak at the Spencer facility occurred back in May, if I'm not mistaken, not sure of the exact date?

I'm just confused how Marcus claims responsibility for the mansion outbreak, cools his heels for a few months, then hits the train and the training management facility, and how the latter two outbreaks suddenly lead Wesker to decide to leave Umbrella, but not the Spencer outbreak. Having an outbreak at an Umbrella laboratory isn't going to sink Umbrella, but having a train and a management facility they were just re-opening is? Or was it just because Marcus specifically was behind it? Umbrella Chronicles makes it seem like Wesker wants out because of the outbreak, not Marcus.

That's why you don't look at Umbrella Chronicles for timeline details. =P

The Training Facility was infected around the same time as the Arklay Research Facility. Only the train was infected on July 23rd.

Wesker opted out at that particular moment because he knew the leak of the T-virus wouldn't stop at the mansion or training facility.

The outbreak at the mansion was not an overnight thing. Just look at the famous 4/itchy tasty diary. Obviously Umbrella knew about the outbreak for some time. What they weren't expecting was Marcus.

Well, if we are asking timeline questions, then I want to throw one out there.

In Resident Evil, Bravo team fly over the Arklay Mountains, and when there helicopter goes down, Alpha team is sent out to find them. Now, I don't recall if it was said in the game, but I always presumed that Alpha was sent to check out what happened straight away.

Yet going by the Zero timeline, there is roughly a full 24 hours before Alpha team are sent out. I mean, Bravo's helicopter goes down at night, and it's daytime by the time Rebecca is making it toward the mansion. Then in Resident Evil/REmake, Alpha team are flying at night again.

This just doesn't make sense to me. Why would they wait 24 hours before heading off to check it out. That's one of my main gripes with Zero, it's fucked up the timeline for me.

Nor should you RE0 to be honest. It's funny, but the two games they used to try and patch together plotholes (0 and chronicles) were the games that fucked up the story the most.

Zero has fucked up the story of RE1 entirely. I really prefer to think that the outbreak in Spencer's mansion was a result of an accident and not a result of an attack of a singing dead-and-resurrected old-but-turned-into-young men and his army of mutated leeches :/.

Marcus infiltrates Arklay lab and leaks the T-virus early hours of May 11th

Wesker is secretly planning to leave Umbrella for The organisation/HCF/ whatever but needs the combat data of the Tyrant before he can make his move.

After a damage assesment at the spencer mansion, Umbrella decide to recoup their losses and turn the incident at the mansion to their advantage before detroying the place by acquiring combat data for the BOW and measure the effectiveness of the T-Virus as a weapon, thus X-Day is created.

Spencer sends Sergei Vladimir to Raccoon to collect TALOS from the lab.

July 23rd evening, Bravo team head out, events unfold.

Wesker realises that if Marcus is truly alive then he can ruin both his, Birkin's and Spencer's career and also destroy Umbrella. This effectively means that no matter what happens on X-Day, Wesker won't be reporting back to Umbrella.

July 24th morning, Marcus dies,. Rebecca heads to the mansion, Wesker heads back to the city before anyone from STARS realises he was ever gone.

July 24th night, Sergei recovers TALOS, witnessed by survivors of Bravo Team.

Wesker takes the Alpha Team in, events unfold.

July 25th day, STARS survivors escape, Wesker secretly escapes, mansion explodes.

              A very abridged retelling there.
              "I've got 100 cows."
              "Well I've got 104 friends."

It makes sense in a somewhat messed up way at the very least. Waiting a day was probably also ordered by Irons or stalled by Wesker himself to give Umbrella time to gather the data from Bravo team.

Honestly, I think with RE5's release, we may get a revised timeline again, since according to Krispy on the podcast, the loading screens for RE5 go over the history of Umbrella...

                  So I'm expecting further retcons.

Marcus infiltrates Arklay lab and leaks the T-virus early hours of May 11th.
Holy shit, that's on my birthday!

TheBatMan's account of the timeline is pretty spot on, Wesker couldn't leave on the 11th due to the lack of the combat data so he and Birkin monitored the situation and when Marcus re-appeared on the 23rd, like people has stated, for Wesker and Birkin there was no going back.

I think in UC Wesker did mention that when they were trying to reopen the training facility, they had a problem because there were leech monsters guarding the place.

                        Nifty
I like RE Zero, i know other people dont but i do. Good graphics and i like the story, and revived Marcus has a bad ass voice. I didnt know he sang by the way, i just thought it was the games music track playing something gothic.

I generally don't mind the acceptably convoluted story at times, but as for the gameplay inbalances and the Magic Elevator, I have no care for.

The elevator that was somehow connected to the training facility, the treatment plant, and the underground lab beneath Raccoon City.
