There's no objective definition of what constitutes "scary." I did not find any of the Resident Evil games scary. Nor did I find any of the Silent Hills, Fatal Frames, Sirens, etc, scary.
Ah, I'm sorry, you have a point; I got lost in my words.
Either way, I thought it was scary, and still to this date do I believe this.
Fatal Frame is one of the scariest games I've played in my life, but that is my opinion.
Mmmhmmm, I believe that the newer RE's arent scary, but I'll continue to play them, anywho.

^@Archelon: I know you never, it was just my thought when RE4 was mentioned.

If RE5 was like Left4Dead I wouldn't touch it. L4D is good being what it is, a fun online shooter, with little or no story, to have a laugh with, online with your pals. RE5 should never be like that. It's a far more serious game with a more developed story.

Very true, the storyline is one of the most important features for me.

I think a better game to compare to RE5 is Dead Space. I just beat it recently but given the similar controls and nature, I reckon it does a lot of things right that RE4, and from what I can see RE5, are doing wrong. Swarm tactics aren't terribly scary. However, smaller numbers of more unpleasant and smarter enemies are a lot more intimidating. Especially if they're bright enough to pull of ambushes, a situation I found myself in plenty of times .

The smaller spaces, limiting the are of fighting, along with some bigger areas for larger scale battles also worked nicely.

As for how zombies would work in a more RE4 style one...well, A, more of them. B, in Umbrella Chronicles there were plent of zombies and you could headshot them, and they were still a real danger, even in the larger areas. I imagine it would be something similar here. Zombies are tougher than ganados, and while they can't run they're faster over the middle ground, where ganados and Manji stop and advance slowly.

Throw in crimson heads as well and I reckon you have a pretty nasty bunch.

The amount of plagas i have seen on some clips is crazy, from what i have seen in resident evil 5 they go for the trapped tactic and even the darkness/swarmed tactic in tight places and open ground.

I see a few surprises aswell with the plagas all over u in very close proximity, i don't really know about dead space i held off buying it because i wasn't sure how good the story was maybe someone can tell me?

The AI on the demo i think is out-dated on resident evil 5 i think that the plagas tackle you to the ground and other things that i cannot remember.

I agree. In terms on enemies, L4D isn't THAT interesting even with the zombies. Like Alexia pointed out before, it's a fun online shooter but if RE5 was like that I'd be extremely dissapointed.

Not that I'll be buying RE5 and not to bash L4D, but I'm sure RE5 will have 100 times more interesting things to do than L4D. Don't make me laugh.

Sure, a 90% dumbed down paint by numbers game.

Re4 has no story either...and still consider the best "horror" game of the last year...

I'm planning on completing resident evil 4 and seperate ways again before resident evil 5 comes out! i have 2 months though haha..

How long do you think it will take me to complete? 5 or 6 days?

I don't want to rush it either and i will not be on it for longer then 5 hours a day.

                        Wow.

                        Just... wow.

Even if you hate RE4's story, to claim that it has no story compared to Left4Dead is, quite frankly, asinine.

And before anyone gets offended, I would just like to point out that Left4Dead is a game that, by its develoers' own admission, quite literally has no story. Resident Evil 4, on the other hand, has a story, even if it is one many do not like. There's a big difference between having no story whatsoever and having a story that nobody likes.

Playing Left 4 Dead for the past few weeks simply makes me want a proper "Outbreak" game with bigger scenarios. proper voice chat, a coherent storyline and the flaws that ps2 versions had ironed out as well as xbox live support. I enjoyed both outbreaks despite their flaws and would like to see another.

I enjoy Left 4 Dead a lot but it is not Resident Evil nor should Resident Evil ever become like Left 4 Dead (particually not the main series). Also the Resident Evil mods for Left 4 Dead make me want to get the pc version.

HAHA. nevermind. Like you say, it's my opinion, got the right to think that.
Like it or not, be on your way, we can't think the same like you, Thank God...

Uh, actually, it's not an opinion. It's a fact. Resident Evil 4 has a story. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't have one.

I suggest you learn the difference.

Now, if you had said Left4Dead had no story, that would not just be an opinion. It would be a fact, as well.

                                Left 4 Dead's story is

                                A. 4 survivors of a zombie apocalypse, on the roof of an apartment building, begin their journey to a hospital's rooftop to call a newschopper for rescue.
                                B. 4 survivors of a zombie apocalypse, on a camping trip, begin their journey to a farmhouse to call the Army for rescue.
                                C. 4 survivors of a zombie apocalypse, on a highway, begin their journey to a boathouse to call a man with a boat for rescue.
                                D. 4 survivors of a zombie apocalypse, in a greenhouse, begin their journey to an airport to be rescued by the Army.
