Buying/upgrading weapons? Want the Merchant to return?
Pleased he's gone to be honest. The best way to play through Resident Evil 4 is to just ignore him and only use the weapons you can physically collect in game. Much more fun, challenging and allows you to fight bosses properly as opposed to just barraging them with your best weapon.
I'm just waiting for the unlockable weapons/costumes after playing through it once or twice. If there's anything like the chicago typewriter or the hand cannon it's over for kijuju

He was kind of random though and am glad he's gone though.
What is the lobby thing? I hope it won't be too out of place.
"Oh look, the guy lost his head and I just got chased by a crazy mob. Hmm, what's this, a safe room where i can buy stuff and listen to calming elevator music, how fitting!"
It's just a place to buy, sell, and upgrade weapons in-between missions. I wouldn't be surprised if it was little more than a screen like the one you used to navigate the Merchant's menu. Evidently you'll only be able to access it in between chapters and not during.
Yea, that might prove to be a little tricky, but as long as you can drop items it's all good. That's the best addition yet to the resident evil games I think. I must admit, I will certainly miss the overwhelming feeling of safety(most of the time)of opening a door to see the calming torch light of the merchant.

There was no tension in RE4 to begin with anyway, so the Merchant was right in place.
Agreed.
Looks like this game's not going to be such a walk in the park like RE4. In RE 4 there were several times to take a breather and enjoy the enviroments, but I have a feeling that this games going to be more like having a heart attack for 6 hours straight
A good way to go.

I've been wondering about the difficulty level since they announced it. True, RE4 was a walk in the park, but any game is, if you know what to do and how to do it. Take a RE2-KNIFE only run for instance, most people think that's BS and it's not worth it, but some people (me included) can do it naturally with a good time to boot (save those boss fights). I don't think RE5 will be any harder, ESPECIALLY on co op. It's not like they can anyway.
As for the Merchant, he was my favorite RE4 character, I'd really like him to return as a costume or something. I always thought he'd be a better leading man than Leon in RE4, heh.
On a side note, if you're looking for a "heart attack for 6 hours straight", just try GodHand for the ps2 on the Hard setting. May not induce heart attacks, but guaranteed hate and rage for at least a week.
