I'm all for viral advertising, but not when it discredits the main character like this. Like seriously, okay, we get it, he's disturbed, but I really think they've gone far enough...and from what it looks like, they're not even close to being finished with this shit.

With the way this is all going, I really wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if the next ad we see has Chris rolling around in bed until he wakes up, slits his wrists and writes "KIJUJU" on his walls in blood as he collapses to the floor and curls up in a ball, crying the whole time he does it.

I wonder if the game will live up to those ads. I mean, all this "fear you can't forget", seeing Chris' psyche ruined and all... and then all we probably will get will be an action-packed game with buffed main character and his pretty side kick kicking asses of Majinis and other monsters.

But aside from that, Capcom's doing really good job with this viral advertising.

Where on the ad does it show it's canonical? I'd really hate it if they were.

The script for the viral videos were aproved by the guys in Capcom Japan, and Kramez did say it's canon.

I don't really understand why what happened in Kijuju would have to be "scary" to have this kind of effect on Chris. At least not "scary" in the classic horror sense of the term. A lot of soldiers go through this kind of thing without ever having faced zombies, monsters, Ganados, Majini, etc.

Honestly, though? I think something like the Ganados or Majini would be much scarier in real life than zombies, because the Ganados and Majini still look and act, for the most part, human. With zombies, I would imagine it would be easier to distance yourself from similar psychological trauma to what some soldiers in real life experience, because of the fact that zombies are no longer living beings. They are no longer human.

Granted, Ganados and Majini are no longer technically human, either, but aside from their red eyes, it's harder to distinguish them from living, breathing human beings. Having someone who still appears to be human essentially going insane and trying to brutally slaughter you with no concern for his/her well being would, I imagine, be far more frightening and traumatic than being attacked by something which has quite clearly lost all rationality and reasoning ability such as a zombie.

That's a shame, after all these years to see Chris reduced to this is pretty dissapointing for me. As I generally believe this is going to be the last title with the Chris and Wesker conflict.

Hey, if you can survive many incidents of bio-terrorism and have many of your friends killed around you, and who knows what physhological damage he has had to him on what Wesker has in store for 5, I am sure I would be on the floor and feel a bit fucked up inside, and for quite some time too. These episodes seems to be only recent after the kijuju incident, and you only got to look back at Chris's obsession with Umbrella and his hatred for Wesker in the previous games/files/epilogues. It's fine.

Plus it makes Chris more human. Now, I'm still not buying this game for the life of me, but it's nice to see Chris has emotions. Unlike someone we know...

I don't know if they're going for the 'scary' aspect as related to Chris. I think the whole "Fear You Can't Forget" thing is more or less directed at the player. But Chris on the other hand, seems more disturbed and mentally and emotionally scarred after whatever happens in RE5...

So what could happen in RE5 that is so terrible, so blood-curdling that it could turn Chris from a tough, macho soldier-turned-drifter-turned-cop-turned-soldier-turned-HULK into a puddle of emotion? Jill's death. I don't see what else it could be.

To me it might not be Jill's death, but her being left behind or something. Think about it, he is writing and seeing "They are in Kijuju" constantly. Who is in Kijuju? He left Kijuju, could some people still be there? It might not even be Jill, "They" could refer to the people of Kijuju. Perhaps he left them allbehind to die of the virus or the entire town was destroyed. I would go crazy too if I knew if I had just left hundreds of people for dead and got awarded for it.

^ Good point. "They are in Kijuju." Who is in Kijuju?

And I love how they had to push in a little ad for Degeneration as well. Cheaaaaaaap, Capcom.
