  • Wesker's gun

In a few of the trailers during the fight between Chris and Wesker you see Wesker's gun. It has the under barrel laser like all guns in the game do. So this got me thinking, why would Wesker have this.

My thought is, if you do get to fight him, as opposed to another end credit cutseen fight, after the fight, you get that weapon. It'd be like every past RE's magnum.

Other possibilities I can think of are, if he's a playable character in what ever the mercenaries game will be, that will be one of his weapons. Or maybe they were lazy and only rendered one.

    Any other thoughts?

If you don't actually get it from him, I imagine it's an unlockable weapon or one you can just buy as you progress through the game. Wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the strongest handgun.

Based on RE4, though, in all likelihood I would say you don't actually get it from him. Both Luis and Ada used guns you could acquire from the Merchant, but you didn't actually get either gun from said characters. Kind of a weak argument, I know, but I suspect that's how it will play out in RE5 as well.

He's not asking what guns Wesker is using in the trailer.

Wesker's Samurai Edge fired .40 S&W rounds, naturally it'll be the strongest handgun.

Did it? I thought that was only the Barry special (the one that fired three rounds in rapid succession).

Even so, I'm sure for simplicity's sake it'll use 9mm ammo, much like the Punisher in RE4 or Claire's revolver in RE2. Granted, the ammo alone doesn't determine how powerful a gun is using RE4's and, presumably, RE5's upgrade system.

I'm sure that any gun Wesker uses, will be avaliable as an unlockable at the end of the game.

Wesker's was modified to fire those rounds, yeah. Hence why the thing sounds like a beast.

I don't think Wesker has a modified gun. A Beretta M96 is chambered in 40S&W. And it looks exactly the same as the M92

I wasn't aware the M96 even existed. Interesting.

Here it is, just imagine the customized Kendo Gun Shop frame and markings:

Most people don't know about the Model 96 because they never advertise it. It is just another variant of the Model 92, just like the 92FS 92S 92SA, it's just another gun in the same line.

The pic you have is just one of the Model 96's. They make a M96 version of every M92. And they look exactly the same.

Looks pretty cool. I was digging his silenced pistol in Mercenaries mode, matched good with his turtle neck

They need more silenced weapons in the game, it would add a whole other level of game play. Now that the majini can hear you (the ganado too) it would be nice to have to choose between power or letting them know where you are. It wouldn't matter with the old games that had zombies, but now it would totally work.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind to much if the game went ahead and went metal gear style with the stealth style, cause if you think about it, the new RE games are already halfway there
