Here's my opinion copy-pasta'd from another forum

all of my expectations are met for this game.
I don't see why people are so against RE5. But its their loss.

The demo is awesome. The game is shaping up nicely. The enemies are fast and can provide a challenge. You tend to get surrounded by them so teamwork is necessary. Sheva is manageable but co-op is where it shines. Coordinating with your teammate is fun and challenging.
There are two level in the demo. The first one has you surviving an endless wave of madmen for several minuets. You are stuck in a little town square with a giant axe-wielding fatasshole that can end your game in one hit. Its pretty scary.
The second level has you going from point A to Point B. Its pretty short but ends fighting you fighting a masked weirdo with a Chainsaw. This man likes to be an asshole. He stood behind me until I turned around, when he beheaded me... He takes a Sh!tload of damage to kill. I had to drop a generator on him, explode 3 barrels, and punch him in the face 3 times, plus 50 bullets before he would die.

The main problem is the controls. FORTUNATELY they can be fixed in the options menu. Capcom has the default set to Type D (they want to test this new "Gears of War" control style). Well Type D sucks ass. Switch it to Type A (RE4 controls) or Type C (a mix of both). Turn up the aiming sensitivity as well. This makes the game perfect. Using the inventory takes some getting used to but proves to be helpful (since you can't pause to switch items).

This just makes me want the full game (due in march)

Well goodbye everyone. I won't be back until the game comes out.
The forums a little too filled with spoilers for my liking.

Hm, for survival horror you sure don't seem to spend a lot of time alone (read: any).

I don't understand why every single game needs co-op nowadays. Some games (horror especially) just don't need it. Maybe as an added bonus, but for the entire campaign? Talk about taking the fear out of being overwhelmed. So there goes the "horror" of survival horror.

And why is there such an excess of ammo (referring more to RE4)? Certainly takes the "survival" part out of survival horror. There's a lot of people, sure, but there should be limited ammo as well. Rely more on your knife, it could be more fun that way too.

The only good thing about this demo is the no pausing to switch out stuff. I'd love to see that implemented in a classic RE game, but of course it won't happen.

And I like to see it more as my gain. Time otherwise wasted on a game borrowing controls from a better game (Gears/Gears 2), and that's saying a lot since Gears 1 was kinda meh. Gears 2 was a big improvement though.

I only have a PS3 and sadly the contraption is not recognizing my wireless internet. I would love to try out the PS3 demo, but I guess I'll just have to stick with vids. *pouts*

From some of the few videos I've seen I've only noted a few problems like bugs/glitches and Sheva's AI being rather slow to react. Though based on some comments on here, it just occurs with various demos.

I hope they manage to work the problems out by the time March rolls around.

For those who can answer this then, is the Executioner a hard boss ? And does he still have the one hit kill ? And, also, does the average enemy AI improve on the Japanese demo at all ?

I played the demo a few hours ago on a friend's x-box, pretty damn good. It was just as stressfull and fast-paced as I imagined, but I must say I was pretty disappointed with the enemy a.i., it was like sometimes they would just walk around you in circles. Eithier way, I think it's going to be one helluva finale for all the original fans who are hanging in there.

Not really, his attacks can easily be avoided. I'm able to kill him halfway through the demo so he's pretty easy.

The Executioner does not have a one hit kill, only the chainsaw majini does.

No, the American demo is basically the same thing as the Japanese demo.

Technically its not a one hit kill, but if he drops his axe down and it strikes both players, the game is over. I made the mistake of trying to save Sheva from one of the majini and the executioner killed us both. However if only one person is hit, you'll be fine.

The chainsaw guy shouldn't give anyone too much of a problem once they get a pattern down either with the AI or with their live partner. When I'm alone, I go in with grenades ready (incendiary first if I have them), hit him if the grenades take him down, then I run back and explode the barrels. With some of the live players I've had, we do something similar or we keep double teaming melee.

Executioner is better than chainsaw in my opinion.

The internet is going apeshit, bitching about the controls. Should I be concerned?

No. I got used to both the 360 and PS3 controls fairly quickly. For PS3 I just set to type D. One thing that pisses me off is that every time I turn on the demo I have to reset the controls. I wish they would save to whatever I put them on, but meh...oh well. The controls aren't bad at all.

Yeah, controls are fine. Just remember to reset your aiming speed and control preference every time you start the game anew.

I'm playing through RE4 right now...and I'm getting used to those controls.

Perfect controls would be, in my opinion, RE4's controls but with L1 to aim, R1 to fire, and L2 to ready your knife, R1 to slash.

How are you playing it on ps3? Is it a japanese demo? Is type D the RE4 controls?

If it's the same as the 360, Type A is the RE4 controls. Type D is the default one.

The controls are just fine for me. I tried playing with the Type D controls for awhile, but I really feel more comfortable with Type A. For aiming speed, I still can't decide if I'm more comfortable with the Default or Fast. I initially played with the speed on Fastest, but I found that I missed far too many shots as a result. The Default and Fast seem to be right about in the sweet spot.

I really do hope they switch the X and A buttons for the final release, though. At the very least, give the option of switching them in the Options menu.

I could be wrong, but I think either Type B or Type C is that exact configuration. I don't know for certain, however, as I've used neither.
