Does anyone know for sure if the current build (or that of the demos) of RE5 uses the Unreal Engine 3.0? Or is it still the MT Framework? I don't have any reliable sources, and I've seen a lot of rumors about it. Plus, I don't have a PS3/Xbox to check the files for myself.

It's their own, standard engine for all of their next-gen games. RE5 uses a somewhat modified version.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

I know that just about every new Capcom game uses the MT Framework engine, since it's in house built and stuff. But Capcom had licensed the Unreal Engine 3 for unannounced reasons not that long ago. That's when some rumors began that RE5 would shift gears to that. I just wanted to know if anyone had solid information or proof on the matter.

Well, this seals it, thanks. It's half a relief, and half a bummer. Maybe with the Unreal Engine 3.0, the pc port of the game (wich will, eventually, happen) would be moddable to a greater extent. But it's awesome that they're sticking with the Framework too. That way, the chances of a crappy PC port are actually pretty small.

Capcom's in-house games all use Capcom internally developed engines. Resident Evil 5 uses MT Framework, just as Dead Rising, Lost Planet and DMC4 did.
Their license for the UE3 was for a game being developed externally from Capcom, simply because it's bad business practice to share their internally developed source code with people outside of the company. I don't think it was ever confirmed what game the license was bought for, but I think it may have been Dark Void.
