Does anyone know if this will come back in 5 ? I personally enjoyed collecting all the files, diaries and fax sheets that were littered throughout the original games, more than even the ones you collected in 4 because at least in the first three games by collecting these files you got a picture of what was happening to people during a zombie invasion or even becoming infected. It was like a whole mini story interwoven throughout the game as you played. I hope this makes a proper come back in 5, perhaps even hinting at what Tricell and Wesker are up to behind the scenes and maybe even have hints about Jill in there too.

I'm pretty sure files will make a return in 5. Every other game had em and adds to the storyline. I'm sure what happened from after 4 to the start of 5 will be in ink. Possibly have an achievement tied with getting all files too.

That doesn't mean that files won't make a return in RE 5. Especially now that the game envolves the progenitor virus I'm sure we'll see plenty of files.sigpic

At the beginning of Public Assembly, there's a "file" on the desk right before you enter the building where you get assaulted at. I don't know if that's a formality and it's the only one or there's gonna be more of them like it, more of them pertaining to the story.

I hope they will be in too but there was no mention of them in any of the stratergy guide descriptions or as mentioned above in the achievements. There is also no place to access them in the inventory.
But they are a staple of the series so lets hope they are in. There is a 'library' option on the title screen after all."I've got 100 cows."
"Well I've got 104 friends."

I think things like treasures and files may have to be consulted in between chapters. Given the real-time nature of the inventory system. I can sort of see why digging into your diaries and treasures during gameplay wouldn't really serve much purpose. Although I do wish I could check out the stats of my guns during gameplay.

There could still be an unlockable for collecting all the files even though you don't get a trophy for it. Perhaps you could unlock chris's diary like you could unlock Jill's in RE3. Or, perhaps you could unlock Spencer's...that would make for an interesting read since he's the most mysterious character of all."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."
Resident Evil/Castlevania/ Silent Hill/Onimusha/Tekken /Dark Souls

And for those who wonder, there's a lot of stuff to collect in the game. One quick look at PS3 trophies can answer that.
Spoiler:
Action figures, BSAA badges, eggs, treasures

I would hope there will be files in 5. If there aren't it would be quite a disappointment, to me anyway. They have always given you a glimpse into what you where doing and what brought you into the location. To take those out would be like taking the Michelle out of Sarah Michelle Gellar, it just wouldn't be right.

i hope they don't remove them, i remember the old classic Medal of Honor games had files at the beginning of each mission, then they were removed once MOH started getting crap,
