Ya know, thinking about this list now...I find the lack of Brad Vickers disturbing.

edit: Where's Kennith Sullivan on that list? It's because he's black right?Last edited by Daargoth; 02-11-2009, 05:38 PM.

and what about Claire in Degeneration, although i think she was the star of the movie, most poeple seem to think she was a side character in it, so put her with Jill in the "forgotten characters" section as well.
Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostWell, Chris and Jill were the original two protagonists. Jill for the beginners, Chris for the more experienced players. Leon was decent in RE2, with his cliche 90s hairstyle. He was a good protagonist. Turned up for his first day on the job, and ended up living through a horrible nightmare that he couldn't have possibly forseen. That whole experience changed him, it would change anybody.
i just found Chris's constant headshots, and massive ammounts of health to be way to easy. plus he got a lighter, so i never had to deal with any crimson heads. and i think that the fact Jill doesn't have a lighter as in the personnel item actually means she has more backtracking than Chris who has to find the little keys, since Jill has to hold two items to burn the zombies up.
Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostIf you were turning up in a new city to start a new job, and you found the whole place overrun by zombies, it would radically change your life. So while I think that his transition from rookie cop to government operative is somewhat feasible, especially considering that he was approached by the United States government at the end of Raccoon City, the execution was very poor. He lost all that made him such a great character in RE2. Replaced by what people find "cool" and "hip" in the 21st century, which unfortunately is shit like everything else this century.
Leon in RE2 was more of a 1990s hero, that was a good decade, a decade that while heading forward to the inevitable shitstorm that was 2000, still retained some of the greatness that had overflowed from the 1980s. Then the millennium, and our lives changed for the worst. Entertainment became reality, common sense became mass idiocy, and television started to become more dramatic - especially game shows and reality television. Look at Deal or No Deal. Back in the 90s, a game show would just happen. You have contestants, you have prizes, people win, people lose, it happens. Not now, instead it's like a bloody soap opera with tears and poignant music as though it's a memorial to someone's tragic loss of a quarter of a million pounds when they opened the wrong box, comforted by Noel Edmonds and the equally over-emotional audience that perpetuates this endless cycle of bullshit and drama.
and kids these days just fail hard.

sales have an effect on popularity because there are possibly at least over 1 million people who have played as Jill but never played as Chris, so obvoisly, Jill is gonna be the more popular one out of the two.

but i think it depends on what your good at really, i think some people find Chris harder, and others find Jill harder.

^Nope, it is common knowledge that Chris' adventure is more challenging and difficult than Jill's. Which is why so many people in this thread have stated it as such to you.
Chris - holds less items, therefore has to backtrack more. Can take more damage. Yet he does start with a lighter. But needs "small keys" to unlock doors.
Jill - holds more items, Barry assists her (saves her, outright kills some enemies), she gets the grenade launcher, gets the shotgun faster, etc. Can take less damage. Has lockpick for easy access to locked areas.
Does your bias always cloud your judgment?
Even the Wikipedia entry states: "Jill's scenario is the easier of the two."
As for the thread topic:

Look at that. Just look at that. Pause for a few moments, maybe even a full five minutes and just admire that figure of manliness. Sure, Jill may have breasts and therefore be far more appealing to the less mature among us, but Chris is probably the only lead male protagonist that I like. Now Leon in RE2, he was great. For the reasons I've stated above. However, his character went in a direction that I would not consider "great". Who else do we have?
Ark Thompson? He was around for one game, hardly what one might consider a "lead" protagonist. His amnesia fucked around with everyone, and his presence was overshadowed by that of the man he was trying to impersonate - the most ruthless bar-steward in the entire series, the child murderer himself, Vincent Goldman. That brings me to an unrelated point, how is it that when people think about Umbrella maniacs, they usually think of Birkin, Wesker or the Ashfords? Sure, Alfred was a little on the unhinged side, sure he ordered the execution of his own secretary, but Goldman murdered CHILDREN. Twenty of them to be exact, and then had the temerity to cover it up as a mass suicide. All to further his own ambitions. That takes a very special kind of mindset. He wasn't insane as such, he was well aware of what he was doing - and that's what makes it all the more terrible.
But after that epic digress, let us continue. Who else have we got? Steve? Again, another minor male (?) lead. I won't jump on the hate bandwagon and say he's the most obnoxious character in the series, I just blame the choice of voice actor. Where does that leave us? Billy Coen? Former United States marine, sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. He's got a mullet, he uses a Colt M1911, he's got a tattoo, surely this man fits the criteria necessary to enter the Hall of Testosterone? Surely he could stand alongside such other symbols of masculinity as Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Peppard and Chris Redfield himself?
And indeed he would, but the man has only been in a single game! If we see more of Billy in the future, I will not be disappointed. As such, he doesn't qualify - yet. So for now, Chris stands proud and apart as a pillar of manly strength, with arms of cannon and punches of Falcon, he is truly a king of kings.
Was that pro-Chris enough in the same sense as the Los Jilluminados, and their devout Valentine fanaticism? I hope so.
Shit, I forgot about Sergei. The one man who could fight Chris, and I don't mean Wesker. The counter-Redfield, the Russian behemoth himself. So Mr. Boob, I take your Redfield and I raise you Vladimir.

^I see you want an old-fashioned bout...perhaps in the vein of Ivan Drago -vs- Rocky Balboa?
And as I have stated elsewhere (and you summarize nicely above) - Chris is a goddamn sexual tyrannosaur that this series needs to be it's action hero. Chris probably dips and spits the excess onto the boots of his fellow BSAA members.
As for "Los Jilluminados"...that is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. That deserves its own thread, it is so awesome.

has chris ever used snakes manly mk.23 socom pistol before?
