Part of "war" is the horror of it, and the quest to survive. There's your survival & your horror. True "horror" was almost non-existant in RE4, though the game did try in a few spots, as Spencer's post up above points out. No one here has played RE5 in its entirety and thus cannot know if it contains similar elements - though the premise of navigating a cavern with only a flashlight seems like prime real estate for a frightening good time.
And if anything, the militaristic feel for RE was first implemented in RE3. The music, the UBCS, the Nemesis "war machine," etc.
You're letting your bias against RE5 slip through the cracks again...tsk, tsk.

Sheesh...so many passing judgment already on RE5...
EDIT: Anyway, back on topic. REmake is the textbook RE experience. The original nightmare, polished to perfection. The game has claustrophobic environments, limited ammunition, terrifying enemies (Crimson Heads especially!), haunting music, graphics that will age well, and the classic characters we all love.
