I will only play online first if I find someone really cool to play, not someone that takes all ammo and herbs.....

Maybe I'll play with my friend offline, but split-screen sucks, looks like the game is kinda slow xD

Definitely solo. I haven't had a single annoyance with the AI; Sheva's only died on me once, and that was my first or second Assembly Line playthrough. When I got the hang of the levels, she barely even got grabbed. The reasons for doing so are the same as everyone else, I want it to be a contained experience without rushes, input from my partner, etc. Plus as I wouldn't be acquainted with the full game, I'd probably feel pressured and end up sucking.

It's more a general snag of when I'm actually going to be able to play this game...in which case I'm sure it'll be massively spoiled before I actually get the chance to do so (which will be my fault anyway).

Picking someone to play through RE5 for the first time with is...like...it's like...a huge decision. Imagine experiencing the story of RE5 for the first time with someone? That's a bond you'll share forever! It's a bond that can't be broken...it's...it's timeless, it's endless. It's...so, so special. It's...emotional, and it's...serious, and it's unforgiving and it's relentless and it shouldn't be taken lightly! I won't take it lightly. I'll...always...remember.

Playing solo, of course. RE is a one-player game to me, always. I am in this for the story, period. I highly doubt Sheva's AI is so awful that it would tarnish the game experience. If it was truly bad, then Capcom would have created a poor product in RE5.

Today I was playing the demo, solo, and I was aiming at Chainsaw Chuck with my rifle. I fired a shot and began reloading...and that's when Sheva thought it would be a brilliant idea to throw a frag grenade at a Majini who was standing next to me as I stood next to an exploding barrel. The grenade exploded, which in turn exploded the barrel, which in turn exploded me and lead to a Game Over. I shit you not.

Mr. Spencer and I will be playing it on co-op on our first playthrough. It's tons more fun and the ability to narrate the cutscenes is an automatic win.

That's just the demo build though, right? And I doubt it can happen frequently throughout the game. It can't be any worse a way to die than screwing up a QTE from RE4...

...And I am still pretty pissed that Capcom made RE5 more or less a multi-player game. To me, the RE series is a one player affair. So, even if it causes me stress, I am playing with the computer AI. Sheva's lucky she's cute...and at least Leon isn't the partner. I wouldn't make it past the first the stage as I'd just keep shooting him.

I dunno but if that shit happens in the full game, I'll never play singleplayer ever again. Playing with a partner online is already 100x more fun than singleplayer, all I need is for the AI to start fuckin' teamkilling me.

Disappointing. As I said, RE has always been foremost a game I was interested in for the story. If I wanted to play multi-player, I'd go play an FPS like "Call of Duty" or one of those millions of other shooters.

I guess I am just retro, but if I want to play a game with another person, that person should be sitting next to me. I've never been into online game playing. And again, RE is not what I consider a 2-player oriented experience. Sigh.

But from what you and others say, it sounds like you all are at least having fun with the 2 player RE5 action.

Oh man, co-op is an absolute blast when people use headsets. If not, it's just like playing singleplayer with smarter AI. Or, you get the morons who hog and waste ammo and herbs.

But if you find someone you get along with, who knows what they're doing and who you can have a good time with, RE5 is so much fun...more fun than any of the past RE's which were all solo experiences. The older games all had their appeal but when it comes to fun, RE5 is the best there's been so far.

And I've just played two levels over and over and over! I can't imagine what it's gonna be like playing the FULL GAME with someone who I trust and enjoy playing with. That's why when I weigh my options of whether I wanna play solo or co-op at first, it's really hard for me to choose solo.

^Awesome, you sold me. Both of you.

I just need to get a PS3. I have been waiting until RE5, as I really don't play any other games. Hence I have never played via a headset.

The only time I ever played an online game was like 8 years ago when some friends and I played "Soldier of Fortune" multiplayer. And you could only chat via typing or yelling between dorm rooms.

When you get a PS3, make sure you get the headset as well. It makes the RE5 experience immeasurably better.
