To me, being "predictable" would be having Chris & Sheva fighting Wesker in a building that is set to self-destruct, all the while hoisting a rocket launcher to defeat the final boss.

As far as I am concerned, a volcano is a breath of fresh air.

And - how many fans predicted a year ago that a certain female lead would even be mentioned (much less a huge factor) in RE5? And how many people predicted we'd finally get to see Ozwell Spencer in the flesh?

Capcom's really surprised me so far with their flare in RE5.

If you talk of ending the legacy of Chris and Wesker, you can't do so without also typing up or at the very least mentioning Jill. You don't need to use the questions that have been asked 1,000 times over now regarding her but this part of the Resident Evil story is as much hers as it is Chris's. While I do think that her being killed wouldn't necessarily thing if they pull it off right, with how popular she is...I dont think Capcom will do it. If this is the last focus of Chris, Chris will walk off done with fighting alongside Jill. Wesker most likely will be the one not surviving the ordeal.

Someone mentioned Excella, I don't really see Excella being finished off in this game. She strikes me as someone whos got bigger plans then she is letting on and if they indeed do another Biohazard...she will be involved.

Yeah, same here. I don't know why people are writing her off so quickly. I don't think we'll be seeing her mutate any time soon, and, let's be honest, that's the only way major characters are ever killed off in Resident Evil.

RE5 will officially, FINALLY close the book on Umbrella. So, if Resident Evil is to now be about TriCell and their exploits, then Excella is now the antagonist of the series. Again, this is all speculation, but a hunch tells me that Excella Gionne = The future of Resident Evil.

im not sure if doing that would be predictable or just stupid, i knew they were probably gonna change that in RE5, i always did think the ending would be over a volcano though.

but you never no, it could just be a change of skin and still have the rocket launcher thing.

oh and well, a year ago i did know someone by the name of Biohazard151 who predicted that Jill will appear and die in RE5 (shot by a stray bullet), i laughed and said no way that was is that gonna happen, a few months later, the tombstone trailer came out.

i agree as well, Excella looks like an awesome new character, i really hope she takes over if Wesker dies, because Wesker, is just not as cool as he used to be, but Excella is pretty awesome. i don't want to see her mutate in RE5, and i hope she turnes out to be as good as im hopeing she is, her and Irving look very promising from the trailer.

Okay. You've convinced me. I'm open to the idea of Excella living.. Though, we'd better learn some more interesting stuff about her for her to be a plausible LEAD villain.. Her groveling to Wesker to be his partner sounds very desperate and lacks in leadership quality. A truly evil villain would try to pull something sneaky and out-do the current leading villain.

Also... that doesn't answer the question of "Will evil arise from the ashes of Raccoon City?" as stated in the OXM review of RE5. To me, this implies somebody FROM Raccoon City, which is not Excella. This statement could mean Sherry or Jill. That is, unless Chris decides he's been fighting for the wrong side, snaps, and becomes the villain, which would be quite the twist, but very unbelievable and ineffective.

The relationship between Chris and Wesker is highly emotional! Wesker really fucks with Chris' head. They have history together! He's abused Chris' sister, his partner, etc.

Since Tricell is supposed to be the new direction for future installments of the series, I'm fairly sure Excella won't experience a falling out as of yet.

But, with mention of Umbrella Japan from the BSAA site, I hope we can get some more coverage/history on this in the next chapter, before they start closing ties to the whole incident.

I think I would enjoy a game where Jill is good again and goes after Excella and her evil schemes, I'm sure it would show a lot of backstory on how she was brainwashed and controlled (if that is, indeed, what is going on).

Who knows, really.. Maybe Chris and Sheva will save Jill, and then Jill will say something like "I have some loose ends to take care of" and run off the scene to do so. <--- maybe that's the DLC content people are raving about, and it will be similar to Separate Ways, but less behind the scenes like Ada was and more like an explanation for some events that don't have explanations in the main story.

I suppose we will all find out on March 5th when it is released in Japan. That is only 18 days away. I know I will read the spoilers, because I know I will still enjoy watching the story unfold in front of my eyes as I play it, no matter what the outcome.

Also, so far reviews have said the story is a GREAT fan service.. Hence, I can't imagine the ending is going to piss us off.

I think the evil will arise bit was directed more at Wesker's doing than Jill.
