  • Xbox World Review...

Hey guy's, I'm copying this post I made from the news section to here becuase I wanted to express my opinion on the review itself so I could gather other peoples thoughts on it too. I know some poster's don't follow the news comments on the forum but I had genuine concerns that I think need discussing.

    ----------------------------------------

I purchased and read this review, just a mere hour ago and alot of it is still fresh in my mind.

The review has done a hell of alot to refuel my past fears for the new Resi. As being a long time fan since the start of chris and jill's first outting, I'm honestly alittle saddened by where the series has truely been taken by bad directing and story-telling. Don't get me wrong I've loved ech and every Resi game, as I tend to not listen to speculation and yes Resi 4 is one of my favorites.

The mag talks about bad A.I. alot and good ideas that haven't been polished, the later half of the game is very rushed acoording to the reviewer. Also without a human partner, the game is barely play-able. It still give's it 81% but it's mainly based on co-op play. The last battle in the game is suppossedly redicilously bad and the story is borderline fan-fiction.

Yet there is hope as the mag offers alot in speculation but doesn't really supply any hard evidence to back up it's claims. The screenshots, although some are new, don't show anything interesting or anything fresh. Most of the info in the review has been splashed out in places around the net, if you look hard enough. Also the DvD with the mag which shouts "Exclusive content and videos of RE5" Is actually just a start to finish walk-through of the demo. To say the least I wasn't impressed.

One thing that has stuck with me though, is that the mag stated that RE5 feels like a fan-fiction copy of RE4... a mod with shiny graphics and a bad director behind it, who's trying despretely to follow in his previous role-models footsteps. This left a hard knot in my throat as through the past weeks of spoiler researching and filtering.... I was begginging to think the same thing. I'm praying to god that i'm wrong.

Don't worry too much about it. They still admit re5 is an excellent game, but in their opinion, re4 set the bar so high it was almost impossible to match it by using the same game engine.

Whats ironic about all this is with RE4 capcom alienated a lot of old school re fans and brought in fresh fans, and with re5 it looks to do the opposite.

I think they are nitpicking with many things, they say Sheva's AI is terrible but watching their playthrough of the demo on their disk, she never gets in the way or wastes/steals ammo at all.
In contrast, Official Playstation Mag states Sheva'a AI is flawless. So make of it what you will.

They have a screenshot though that proves it only took them 7 hours to finish the game but again is that an issue?
Remake is a brilliant game yet a speedrun of that can be clocked in 1hr 30, so if a speedrun through RE5 takes roughly 6 times that long, what's the problem really?
    "I've got 100 cows."
    "Well I've got 104 friends."

Indeed. I can't believe them when they say that. Sheva's AI is very intelligent. She gives me ammo without me having to ask for it and doesn't get in the way. And that's just the demo.

I'm hoping one of those spoilerific peeps at rehorror is going to post scans. But for now, I'm off to bartending.
