i've been thinking. why not make outbreak but this time dd the following.

-make it so you can play through actual RE scenarios AKA 1 2 3 with co op
    -add voice support
-add extra scenarios from the orig outbreak series
-add the ability to do 1st and 3rd person sight

i tihnk this is what the games needed

would you want to play a game like this?

      1st and 3rd person? That's a no no.
Personally, I'd love for them to go with the RE4/5 gameplay, work it with zombies, tight spaces, and that 'Raccoon City' feel.
Add voice support, some new scenarios, new characters, or remake the older ones with these features.
      Then yes, I would.

If voice chat was added then yes. Maybe add a bit more linearity to the levels; while their design in Outbreaks 1 and 2 were fine for typical RE games, I think they were too open-ended and complicated for a multiplayer game.

In general, I find it odd that we haven't seen Outbreak "revived" for next gen yet. Especially with the focus on online this generation, and how well it works in general and how much better things are this generation when it comes to online support.

Outbreak on its own, as a "hub" would've worked perfect as a downloadable title that could be exploited to the limit with microtransactions for everything. (Let's say the base game came with 8 characters + 5 scenarios. Outbreak 1, more or less. And everything beyond that... costumes, new stages, game modes, etc... would be download content.)

            "Main Game Scenarios"
-Sure. That'd actually be a pretty nice touch. I'd say those would've been better left off as bonus/DLC ones, though. (From both a gamer and business perspective)

            "Voice support"
-Ofcourse. But I'd love to see two different "modes" of voice support. Even though you could cut if off by using the party function on the 360, at least, and probably some sort of direct private chat on the PS3 too, I'd love to see voice support implemented the same way as the adlib system, more or less (with the adlib system kept too, for multilingual co-op). What I mean is that if I'm half-around-the-globe, I'd prefer it if the others didn't hear my cries for help... unless I shouted really really loud. (Basically, distance based audio. If you're too far away, other people can't hear you!)

            "Revisiting old Outbreak content"
-Sure. I'd actually even hit it if it only contained Outbreak 1 scenarios.

            "1st and 3rd person view"
-Sure. A little bit of RE4 in there could work. But I'd like for it to keep the old moving camera of Outbreak 1-2 (which were somewhat like Silent Hill's mix of static, moving and chase/free cams). Metal Gear Solid managed to implement a perfect swap between 3rd person and 1st person aiming, and I could totally see that implemented, but it'd only really be necessary if shooting the enemies in specific body parts would have any real advantage (beyond that of just "Head shot = Critical Hit")

I really liked Outbreak. The Item limit wasn't a problem to me, really. You had 4 people running around, so getting someone else to carry something for you shouldn't be a problem (unless you're playing on your own with the computer AI, which could be an experience in sheep herding like no other). The only reason I could see the need for more item slots for would be if they heavily increased the focus on item combining (3+ or more items to combine, multiple sets of items that has to be combined and/or an increased amount of item dependent puzzles.

You really don't need more space. +They could easily avoid the need for more slots if you had multiple paths in each scenario and a bit more exploration added to things. Also, if more slots were a must, doing some sort of clothing system, or backpack, could easily solve that. Kinda like the system you have in Disaster Report/SOS - The Final Escape and Raw Danger (and also Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3, I think)

Also, was it Yoko who had two extra slots in Outbreak 1-2? Not to mention how other characters also technically had extra slots, dedicated to their bonus skills/perks.

I disliked Outbreak only for its lack of voice chat. Other than that, it was a really fun game. I'd love to see it revisited...but how? Raccoon City is gone. Unless they revisit Raccoon City, I don't wanna see another Outbreak game.

Just like with the end of RE5, it might be time to let sleeping dogs lie. If RE6 is gonna be another reboot, I'm gonna seriously consider whether I want to buy it or not. Umbrella's storyline is dead...once the Chris and Wesker storyline is dead, what the hell else is left from the original games? I feel like it's the same with Outbreak. There's only so many places a game like that can take place within the Resident Evil universe before things get 100% ridiculous.

I never liked Outbreak, but then again I never got the chance to play it online. If they did it again, in this age with the sophistication online gaming has got to, support for voice chat and the new over-the-shoulder view, I think it'd be brilliant and I'd definitely buy it.

Carn: Yoko's backpack had an extra 4 slots I believe. Cindy's herb case -could- also count as extra space since it was less necessary for her to pick up healing items since she could hold a full mixed herb + 3 green and 3 red herbs ready to be mixed too. Essentially carrying 4 full heals.

I'd definitely play a new Outbreak, and like Carn I am surprised we haven't seen a new one yet. Although, with the experiment of co-op play near full time in RE5 and the general popularity of online play these days, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of an Outbreak type game.

Some of the flaws with Outbreak could easily be addressed. I remember being an advocate of the idea that Outbreak would be better without voice communication (for certain reasons). In hindsight, I think it would be unwise to not include communication capabilities, as I readily admit that I overestimated the experience of not being able to communicate in interest of characterization as opposed to having more fun with voice. I was too worried about stupid conversation during game if voice was there, as opposed to just making sure I played with people who'd be more fun to play with.

Anyway, I would disagree that the Outbreak needs more linearity. In fact, I felt that the scenarios were too linear in general. Item randomization was nice and having to search for things was a good aspect of the game. Some backtracking and running around is fine. I think it may have felt too open and complicated only if you don't have voice communication and decent players. I don't really want it so that all 4 players just progress from A>B>C>D in a linear fashion. I'd like to see more split paths and branching. NPC interaction was minimal anyways, and since the scenarios were apparently supposed to be more stand-alone "what if"s, then I don't see why the next Outbreak couldn't have multiple paths and endings to scenarios.

4 item limit was fine, in my opinion. Normally, I am a hoarder and try to pick up everything I find, so for me to say that is significant in relevance to my own opinion. It's not supposed to be an action fest where you pick up tons of guns and weapons and tank through it. These are regular people in a chaotic situation in random places. In fact I think it is already quite lucky that you -can- find some guns and ammo just lying around in some of these places. But even so: 1 weapon, 1 healing item, and 2 spots for keys/items is sufficient with a couple of other people working together. Keep in mind Mark already has his gun, leaving the 1 slot open for either a second weapon or ammo for his own gun or whatever. Cindy doesn't really need to pick up health items (except to fill/refill her herb case), opening up a spot for her. Alyssa does not need to pick up some keys. Yoko has 8 slots with her pack. Kevin has his .45 which can be used in emergencies and otherwise supplement his 1 weapon slot for a temporary melee item, second weapon, or rare ammo for his own gun while he has a melee move (kick!) which isn't bad to fend off a zombie or two if used right. David, George, and Jim, imo, are really the only ones who don't quite have as much use out of their inventory spaces and special "extras" compared to the others.

But that's where good coordination can come in. One of my favorite things to do was designate two solid fighters and two support. If you have to split up you've got a good set of teams. A Mark/Kevin fighter with the weapons and a Cindy carrying tons of heals in her case (and can heal others directly) with all 4 slots open for key items and maybe a melee backup weapon is a great combo. But you can do this with any team, just some team setups might be more well-suited than some.

Anyway, I know my post is long. I'd love to thoroughly discuss more, but a short list of what I'd want to see:

+ More NPC interaction and story.
+ Multiple paths and end-points to scenarios (possibly opening up different scenarios depending on which path you take)
+ Have unlockable characters be self-standing as opposed to based on a regular playable character's abilities and design.
                  + Voice communication, obviously.
+ A couple of 2-3 hour long scenarios available, in addition to regular 15-30 minute scenarios for more casual.

Honestly there isn't much I'd like to see tweaked technically. Really the only technical aspect that bothered me was going into a door and having a zombie or two follow you directly in with you when there were either none even in the previous room or very close. Kinda odd to run down a long, empty hallway and enter a room only to have a zombie immediately follow you in out of nowhere after the loading screen finished. Oh, and zero or much less loading time between rooms would be nice.

It really doesn't take much for a resident evil game to make me want to play. And they don't have any other games for the 360, so whatever they port I'll play. They seemed to add a lot to the wii ports, so maybe with the good sales of RE5 they'll make more for the 360.

And with XBL great multilayer capability, they could easily add voice chat. (Or just open a live chat)

I'd like to see outbreak to be more fast paced. Like Call of Duty's mini game but RE5 controls, and in Raccoon city, or somewhere new, like the airport in RE Degeneration.

I'd play if they added more content and also added a "Boot player" feature. Got fed up of people joining just to ruin your game by standing infront of objects you needed to push.

I can just imagine how hard it was playing with people you couldn't talk to.

That's what turned me off of the game completely. I'd be under attack by 8 zombies just to see my teammates running in and out of the surrounding rooms, picking up keys and herbs and stuff while I was getting mauled to death. It happened every time I played online.

Although I wonder if the ability to ask for help verbally would've made them actually help me...I doubt it.
