Wasn't...meant...to spark a debate over...which game was ...better. SIGH.

I copied the entry word for word, the examples it listed were ones I have seen on countless forums...meant to imply that most extremists tend to favor one aspect and talk down on another.

I think anytime RE4 gets mentioned it turns into a minor war. It certainly used to. It gave me a hell of a headache, I know that.

Extremeists on either side tend to be stupid. There are a lot of folks who form an opinion and can't even concede that there can be another opinion. And they insult people who have a different one, which is something I've been trying quite hard to stop here. Although even I slip on occasion.

Yeah I see that point, and I just never really got it. My solution was that if you don't like RE4 or any game in the series...don't play it? If you are a fan of the originals more then 4...play the originals? I guess though the internet wouldn't be what it is if not for debates like this though.

I don't voice my opinion on RE4 as much, but I definitly prefer the RE5 demo over RE4.

Theres just something about RE4 I don't like; the story was basically a storyline that wanted to stay far away as possible to the originals, it destroyed Umbrella in the opening in 2 MINUTES.

The A.I, was supposed to be very 'smart', yet they walk to me, slowly, staring at me, waiting for their decapitation?
Atleast zombies in a group were dangerous, if you were low on ammo (which isn't a problem in RE4), you could count to be dead.

And about Matrix moves, nevermind impossible, just, wow, wat?
Also how they changed Leon into a none-emotion battle hound.

Last, the enviroment, I just, don't like the setting.
These are all my opinions stated above. ^

And about the 'extremists', yeah, I don't like RE4, but I like RE5.
But I don't bitch at people because they like RE4, I just voice an opinion out, I can maturely accept other peoples opinions.

Yeah but see you are giving a reason why you don't like it. The people I see just sit there and spew out crap like "No zombies, ITS NOT RESIDENT EVIL THEN". I wasn't the biggest fan of the plot of 4, without Umbrella or any of the antagonists we were expecting or were used to..it just lacked something. It was still a good game and comparing it to other game plots...it was really good.

Well, my main gripe with RE4 is I got into Resident Evil for three things. I like horror and being scared. I love to explore, and indeed one of the things I will do before I die is explore the whole of World War II complex beneath Dover Castle. And I like puzzles. Resident Evil combined these loves and it was oh so gooooood.

There was crap along the way. Survivor, Gaiden. These games? Not so good. But hey, they were side stories. I could live with it. Even the slightly bizarre and crazy story of CODE: Veronica didn't put me off, although I certainly didn't like Wesker's return and Alfred. Or Steve.

But RE4 had nothing I liked. No horror. No exploring, since it's all linear. No puzzles worth the time of day. Someone pointed out that the gameplay itself is a puzzle, that working out the best way to do things the challenge. Sadly the answer seems to be shoot them in the weak point, every time. There's never a more subtle option. Hell, you're essentially punished for avoiding fights by loosing out on ammo, health and money.

So in essence it was a different game to that I had played and wanted. Oh, it was fun to play as mindless fluff, like many other action shooters. But the story is weak, even for Resident Evil, and lacks any real creativity whatsoever. Plot has never been a huge issue for me in RE, which is unusual because I love plot heavy games, but RE4 took it too far in the, 'eh, who cares why you're shooting these guys in the face? Just shoot them!' direction for me to like.

Add in the poor one liners, mostly from Leon although many of the other cast members say crap too. 'I see the president equipped his daughter with ballistics' was an especially good reason not to care if Luis died.

In summary, because I know I write wordy posts, I dislike just about everything but the gameplay itself, and even then I have issue with the ganados and there cunning military strategy of 'run fowards in huge numbers then stop slowly so we can be shot.' As a student of history I know of the many successes such a strategy has achieved.

Well, if someone really considers "Los Jilluminados" to be on par with being called a "DICK," then you got me.

Los Jilluminados = funny (at least to me and a few others), as it is an inventive spin on words; it is hardly hurtful

Whereas: DICK = pretty damn rude, unless your name is Richard

I never call for the locking of threads, but this one is just plain idiotic. Nothing good can come from this thread aside from pointless arguments and name-calling that will lead to nothing but hurt feelings and people being banned. If this is all that there is left to talk about with only 12 days left until RE5 launches in the west, then maybe we should all just take a nice long vacation from this site.

The only problem I had with resident evil 4 was Ashley.

                      I also agree with ChrisRedfield29.

I guess you could call me the Extreme Fan that likes everything Resident Evil, even if you Think it SUCKS...I still like it!

                        Example: Re Survivor SUCKS!...

ME: Naw it was a tight side arcade style story... Got to have a positive outlook!

I know I don't like the OB series, not the Game themselves, just the Game play, I found it hard to get use to and didn't like it very much.

Ashley was a problem, indeed. She really annoyed me back then. I don't care anymore. But the worst aspect of RE4 has to be Ashley, yes.

I liked Ashley better than Maria in Silent Hill. And her voice had alot of comedic value. Whereas Maria's "sounds" were annoying. I liked that Ashley did this little "hurrah" with her fist everytime I knocked a flithy guanado into a bottomless fall.

That was the one thing I liked about her.

The rest of the time it seemed like an endless stream of "LEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!"
