    • I'd be glad to help! Could you explain to me roughly what files you opened with what? I haven't used Mark's executable for ASF yet. I've been using ASFExplorer 3.7 and XPert.

Square Timber shows up in File 1??? There is none til file 2. :0

The Blue Chem bottle doesn't exist afaik
Red Chem is only available with cheats, wow, I didn't know it was named. Next, you'll find the mine thrower? :>

BROKEN HANDGUN (impossible, since only SG is on BFP?) It happens in File 2.
      LOCKPICK (Not Alyssa's) That's impossible that it isn't Alyssa's
COIN HOLDER (Multiple coins for Jim?) Dunno!
MODEL 500 ROUNDS Maybe that's the White Magnum. You can find rounds for it in Elimination 1 and 2.
      GAS ROUNDS File 2
      FIRE EXTINGUISHER ROUNDS Doesn't Exist
      FLAME ROUNDS Flashback File 2
ROCKET ROUNDS Doesn't Exist I guess those'd have been rounds for the Rocket Launcher on MEGA EASY setting
SPECIAL HUNTING GUN ROUNDS (Aren't these in Wild Things?) I would think so. It's called the Hunting Riffle
      REVOLVER ROUNDS WildThings
MAGNUM HANDGUN ROUNDS (No ammo exists for these, right?) yeah
HANDGUN HP MAGAZINE Desperate Times and Elimination
45 AUTO MAGAZINE (No clips for Kevin's gun, right?) Kevin starts the game with this in File 2

SUBMACHINEGUN MAGAZINE DT and End of the Road + Eliminations
REVOLVER S.LOADER It's just the Magnum Revolver
MAGNUM REVOLVER S.LOADER File 2, Wild Things Elimination games
      MAGNUM HANDGUN MAGAZINE Elimination
      HANDGUN GL MAGAZINE DT
HANDGUN SG MAGAZINE DT & Flashback
      BLUE CHEMICAL BOTTLE Non existant
RED CHEMICAL BOTTLE You can cheat those to happen in Flashback
      AXE (File 2?) Yes, Flashback
SQUARE TIMBER Wild Things and Desperate Times
      G. LAUNCHER-GAS ROUNDS Showdown and EoR
      G. LAUNCHER-F. E. ROUNDS Non Existant

SUB MACHINEGUN FP Never saw that gun
SPECIAL HUNTING GUN (File 2?) Hunting Riffle

      • ASF 3.7 here too. You just need to rebuild the ASF after adding certain files fails, then add them again with the rebuilt ASF.

About the BROKEN HANDGUN -- can you get this in your inventory on BFP and have it break from a Hunter hit? I want to cover all possibilities. For the LOCKPICK, its near the character specific stuff, so maybe they had her with just a single pick at the time.

"There's only one Submachine Gun, don't know what FP is."
Yeah, I thought so. Its interesting reading the descriptions for the items though.
        Code:
A small machinegun designed with.ergonomics in mind
        ^for the FP.

What the heck is the "SQUARE TIMBER" exactly? Some tree bark? ahaha.

"MODEL 500 I think that's the White Magnum for Yoko in BFP" - Nope, its something else. Probably a beta magnum or something, similar to how the "REVOLVER" is listed, but we have a magnum revolver as the real item.

Thanks a lot though dude, that helps a ton.

I assume most/all of these are accessible via gameshark and the like? Do you know if they have models/inventory art? Also, what the heck @ kevin's handgun not having a little model on the left side of the screen when you hover over it. Is that a bug or what?

        Update on the translation:
SP items are super borked. if anyone has a save (preferably pcsx2 emulator) with all the SP items in their result screen, that would save a HUGE amount of time. Environment checking works on all maps, as do ad libs. General items are almost done, I just need to add the examine text to them. Inventory specific items need to be added in with their descriptions and then we should be ready to beta test it. Oh, and I still need to find whatever file keeps calling the Japanese text when cutscenes play and murder it.

Heres a full listing of the Japanese "general" items with their hex positions. I've shifted the BETA/FILE 2 ones off to the right.

I assume breaking the SQUARE TIMBER results in a stick, space? This would go so much easier if the emulator had a damn debugger. I could just swap the items in Might be interesting to see if they are usable too!

On a sad note, I've also been banned by KDDI. Reported as a problem with billing, so they probably saw I entered gibberish. Going to try using a real Japanese address where a friend is at and see how it goes from there. CC company says they didn't block any charges.

        • I warned you about it. I never type a single thing in english.

What files name are you switching for what? Are you editing it in an HEX editor? Are they in an .asf? A txt file?

For the red chem code, I haven't tried it. But it's in a huge code archive on codesmaster project forums. Afaik, you can only cheat items already in a scenario. Once you reach the highest numbers, you're picking items from characters in the game. It's possible to take items from other people voluntarily, but none of the people who had that ever shared the code.

I don't remember what the timber turns into.

          • "I warned you about it. I never type a single thing in english. "
I never typed anything to anyone ever period, lol. It was purely an account ban for false info. Hell, I only played one match with a Japanese guy.

.dat files inside the room asf's. Look for ones called romdata/itmsg.dat, the item names are in there. You need to figure out what hex codes correspond to actual text. Its a bit tricky, but kinda easy when you see that they have plain text ones marked with "e" at the end. Megan just made and app for me that'll convert it so I don't have to do the rest by hand. What a pain in the ass that was

All the ones up there should work in any map, since they are on the "master" list. I'll work on spitting out a scenario specific list. I suppose they also have red/blue chemical in there as well heh.

            • Space, you can snag the app here . Its incomplete atm, and I'd also hope we can add Japanese support but I'm not sure that is feasible. Its not really needed, since we're just copying from the English anyway. But IIRC thats missing the ('s on some items. Not sure if its missing some on the descriptions, but it should be easy to figure out later today and have an updated app put out

Super awesome thanks to Megan again, doing those files by hand was a pain in the ass XD!

              • I posted this in the other OB topic but I don't think you saw my post.

Would this work with an NTSC/UC slim PS2? I heard you can't get through the DNAS authentication even if you have patched the game if you're using a slim.

                  • Only one item is out of the ordinary in the scenario specific items list. For outbreak, theres another key called "KEY WITH RED TAG". Its description is "A key with a red tag attached.".

I think this might be a leftover from some previously accessible room/area. Might even be the red tag key from DD.

Translation update: Finishing up items now, both scenarios specific and general items. Once this is done, I just need to do the SP items (huge pain in the ass) and we're ready for some kind of a release. I desperately need a save file with all SP item unlocked for the Japanese version of File 1. If anyone can grab me this, you'd obviously go in our credits list and have my thanks.

After that, I'll look into editing file 2.

                    • There's a hidden elevator on the roof. It could have been for that. Or it could be the forklift key.

                      • Well, its definitely not any of the keys you normally use. Have you ever tried to add these items in your inventory, Space? Do the models and all that exist? I'd be very interested in checking them out but I don't see any kind of debugger in the emulator I'm using while I beta test this.

                        Comment

                        • I don't know how to cheat on the emulator, but it's possible. I haven't cheated items in file 1.

This was a gameshark code VirusPunk posted for debuging, I don't know if it works or if it's file 1 or file 2:
                          001AC434 00000000

Wait, isn't the red tag key, the key to unlock the storage room on the roof. It's been so long I played.

                          • I think it has a red tag, but the key is also named here. All keys are accounted for, and this is just an extra one.

As I was plugging in the English text descriptions for items today, it became apparent that BFP and DD had descriptions that exceed the Japanese limit. So I'll have to find some way to shorten down the descriptions for those few items. trying to extend it crashes the game. Oh yeah, and Alyssa's adlibs have some issues. She keeps saying she is poisoned for one of her random adlibs even though she isn't. We might just have to live with that, because the sheer numbers of possible adlibs in this game are mind boggling. Especially when you consider theres different sets for every room in the game. Its not a huge deal, and all the other ones from her appear to be correct. This is probably due to the fact that the US version has the patch applied for her so it doesn't crash, while the Japanese version most likely just removed that one adlib from her vocabulary to stop the game from crashing.

                            • What did you record your videos with and how did you get them to show up so big in youtube btw?

                              • The translation video was done on an emulator off a 1920x1080 video, which was scaled down to 720p res. If your video is at least that, then it will keep it in HD.

The Broski videos were off my PS3 and scaled down to 640x480 (from 1280x720 upscaled).

Found an awesome bug in our messing around yesterday too. If you had the Handgun SG in your inventory, it would make the item across from it disappear, lol. Great stuff.
